Ys I & II Chronicles (PSP) English Gameplay Video

Definitely picking this up, will be much better then the DS version.

And I would love remakes of Ys I\II using the Oath in Felghana engine. Would totally make those games so much better. Wouldn't mind a V remake either.

a bit burnt out of Ys games after playing Ys7 and Oath back to back, I haven't even beat Oath yet, although I think I'm close. gonna stay away from this one for a while since there other games I want to play, not gonna watch the trailer too in case I got tempted to buy it again day one (like with Oath)

All over my face.

February can't come soon enough.

For those who've played it, how long is the first and second game?

about 15 to 20 hours in total from what I remember on hard setting...

PS: I was not using any guide to play the game. Its really awesome.

Volcynika, I just want to play the game in English and know what happened story wise. :)

Gonna be loads of good times! :D
Cool trailer idea, but they could have picked a way better song!

:-o

Didn't know there was going to be an all new remix of the soundtrack besides the PC Complete versions.

I think it's pretty neat that the spines to Ys Oath, 7, and 1 & 2 contain their logo split over the three of them so when you have them all together in order, you get a nice big Ys logo :)

I don't know whether to preorder or not. I've played these two games briefly in the past, but not for any decent amount of time but the issue for me is the order these games are coming out on PSP. I loved Ys Seven, but found Oath in Felghana a little disappointing as it felt like a bit of a backwards step. Now that these two games, which are even older than Oath, are coming, I don't want to be disappointed again :/

I bet I post here nearer the date saying I preordered :P

Well, if you liked Seven better than OiF, chances are you won't like Chronicles that much most likely, given how simple everything is. This is more of a release for old school fans and people new to the game might not like it all that much nowadays... If you have a Wii and want to make sure if you'd like it you could always download the PC-Engine version that is up in the VC.

The first game is very short, around six/seven hours or so the first time, while the second is easily double that.

Yeah, I was thinking of that VC release. May be an option.
I think my biggest issue with OiF was that I was always trying to find out what to do next and/or getting lost. I take it I & II aren't much different?

Well, yeah, you could say they aren't very different. These don't have platforming but the dungeons can be pretty labyrinthine, particularly towards the second half of Ys II. The "hub" cities are about the same, and while you usually know where to go sometimes there are obscure items you need to use/equip that may not be all that clear.

One of my favorite tracks in the game, sucks that is only used in that small area, the video doesn't acknowledge the music from the TG16 version which is a little bit better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZjj_8mmhM4

Still, the games is incredible and beautiful, with an awesome soundtrack to boot, everyone deserves to play it at least once

The platforming was something that definitely caused me problems in OiF, so maybe the lack of it here will help. Either way, I'm going to just wait until nearer the time and see how I feel. Appreciate the info!

I hope this game has aged well because it will be the first time I really play a game in the series. I tried Ark of Napishtim on PS2 and Ys I&II on PC-E but never really bothered playing them longer.

if you saw the vids and like the playstyle, then there is nothing to worry about. i love them both.

if you like a good story and music get Ys I and II... I went from play Ys VI, which is great. But I liked the Ys I and II story a lot more.

Pre-ordered awhile back. Ken@Xseed told me some time back that they "live and die" on preorders and while I always did that before, I didn't know it was THAT crucial to their survival.... I'm excited for this game - I've played through about half of Ys 7 and haven't opened Felghana yet (backlog...), but I have fond memories of the TG-16 games in my middle school days. Do we have any sales numbers on 7 and Felghana or are they not released anywhere? I don't even know what the total cost is to get the games out in the US but I sure hope they are at least breaking even.

Just picked up a new copy of Ys Seven LE today at Gamestop. Couldn't pass it up for $30. Also pre-ordered Chronicles as well.

All of that because I'm loving The Oath in Felghana. I received the LE as a Christmas gift from my wife, fantastic game.

Ys 1&2 are VERY different from Oath, but still awesome. I think you'll really enjoy them, regardless.

I give bonus points to Ys 1&2 because it has sprites instead of prerendered models like Oath and VI
