Snyder fans and Raimi fans are honestly much more powerful than any MCU fan could ever hope to be.
Only watched Man of Steel which was chaotic garbage in a good way, never saw BvS or Justice League. Might give this a watch when it's done.

It was his daughter... She committed suicide. Then the execs at WB had Whedon brought in to reshoot almost the whole movie. All new scenes and reworking already finished scenes with new dialogue and such.
Emmerich and crew wanted it to happen in November last year... And after Zack did a screening of what he had already shot (sans VFX and pick ups) and presentation of his vision of it for the streaming service, they said yes and here we are.

right now production on all movies is halted. CGI studios are sitting around empty. no shooting can take place. yet here is a movie with hours and hours of footage already shot, ready to put together. there really is no better time than now to do this. so he and his team put together a presentation and they went for it.

Because those fanbases drive the full revenue of the product, and the parent company recognizes it.
With Marvel, it is clear that the majority of revenue comes from casuals, so Disney doesn’t give a fuck about pissing off some comic book fans.

I'm still of the opinion that Snyder's DC movies are some of the worst of the comicbook movies ever made. He's the tryhard edgelord teen as a movie director who read those great comic deconstructions of the 80's (Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns) and thinks that's what superheroes should be like.
But, as an artist, he deserves to his vision seen by the world, no matter how terrible it is.

Man of Steel continues to be one of the very few comic book movies I actually liked very much, it's probably in my top 3 of this kind and I'm including stuff like V for Vendetta and Watchmen. I don't give a crap it didn't portray Superman accurately, I never cared about comic books anyway, I care that it had an interesting character, story and villains that actually convinced me of their motivations and that they were incredibly powerful, the direction was amazing imo so I hope his Justice League goes back to this.
BvS was complete and utter trash though, either it was studio interference or Snyder and the writers fucked up. Having said all this, I don't see how they're gonna save the movie, they need to completely rewrite the villain as a start, that shit was even more generic than Marvel villains.

I'm glad this is happening for Zack more than anything. The rumors were that his daughter's suicide was used as an excuse by the studio to get him off the project instead of straight up firing him, so I'm thankful he's getting some vindication.
I still can't see how he can really salvage this unless he changes the villain and his motivations, and pretty much the entire garbage third act.

apparently they reshot like 75% of the movie after hiring on Whedon and there are hours of footage Zack shot that they never used. it sounds like it will be a very different movie

I'm growing more and more excited to check out this cut. I wish I didn't know about it now and have to wait until 2021. It sucks when a studio hires someone, approves a script and a vision, and then does nothing but roadblock the creative minds with their executive demands.
Maybe they feel like it's anti-Whedon. And that guy pretty much sits on the throne of the SJW kingdom.
