He had a long pattern of picking someone he was really interested in, immediately suggesting they make a game together, making them dependent on him, and then later abandoning it and them, often in really shitty and harmful ways to add insult to injury. As for the "making them dependent on him" part: you could just not?
He's taking the simple realities that every single indie dev faces, and instead of accepting that it's a difficult, competitive road with no guarantee of success, he's blaming his problems on the rest of his team.
