Zone of the Enders HD is being developed by High Voltage Software (The Conduit)

That sound like direct PS3/360 ports rather that porting HD collections...I mean why would they need to lower down assets for those collections? I'm sure MGS HD on vita dosn't.
Because they had more porting jobs in the future other than hd collection? You know, ground zeroes will need massive downgrading to make to vita :p

The bigger question is why other devs haven't done this with games where they supposedly lost code?

I'm looking at you Sega. With Panzer Dragoon Saga.

The big difference here is that there are plenty of devs around with an excellent working knowledge of the PS2's hardware, as well as a ton of excellent tools and documentation, whereas there were very few people who were proficient with the Saturn even when it was active and all the tools were next to useless.

All I know is I better still get my Vita version.
They have been way to quiet about it and I honestly think it was canned.

To be honest, I don't really care about this series at all. ZoE2 is overhyped and ZoE1 just sucks period.

Ok. I understand ZOE1 hate, but WTF, did you just diss ZOE2?

While Sega would never swallow their pride to try, I guarantee the Saturn hacking community could figure it out.

Never heard of them. Wasn't The Conduit supposed to be pretty good though?

Enjoyment of the Conduit series really depends on the person and if they are okay with the content and originality (or lack of it) with the games but both games were very technically sound. That isn't the problem with the games at all. I don't understand the concern people have regarding this. They aren't horrible developers.

Silent Hill HD Collections just shows the quality level needed for Konami to release old games in HD....

Hoping for the best, never played Zone of Enders...not reading IGNs review this time.

I'm in the middle on this, one they really did have a good engine on the Wii thus could potentially do some good stuff with extra horsepower, on the other hand they've got a long track record of doing a number of things right while fucking everything else up, sadly cause I actually like the crew there, they really seem to believe in what they do.

I could see why they'd want to jump on doing the port though, almost certainly to make a profit, they don't have to do a whole lot, and it can help them recover from the abysmal failure that was Conduit 2.

Honestly, I think a few things nearly ruined ZOE2. I agree that an amazing game was in there, but buried under a bit too much crap.

The combat system in ZOE2 is fantastic and almost perfectly encapsulates the look and feel of anime mech battles. The problem is that you don't get to engage in it enough between escort missions, at lest one annoying-as-fuck boss fight, and shitty minigames like the minefield.

Isn't this pretty old news?

Probably, but I doubt many on GAF knew.

It's because the last time Konami got a studio that routinely develops budget software to do an HD Collection they got this.

I was already wary of this collection after the Silent Hill debacle. Hearing the port is being handled by the Conduit guys does not instill confidence.

If Bluepoint had done the port, I'd be all in.

Yes, because the makers of Blast Factor are clearly better than those asshats who made The Conduit...

Look, development is development. Some things, you're great at; some things, you're good at but need a publisher with good schedule and finance support; some things, it's best to work with others on. And sometimes you've proven your company as not being able to handle challenges, while other times, nobody knows what you're capable of until you wow everybody.

Bluepoint wouldn't have been my choice in a million years for God of War Collection (Blast Factor was cute but it did not suggest at all to me they were in this league, even for a remastering, and even if guys there had Metroid Prime on their credits) but the studio proved capabilities beyond any consideration, and now they're the people we all want and crave to do our PS2 remakes. (And hopefully they do a good job on PS BAS and we can put a little more faith in them handling different kinds of projects and maybe original titles again... that Exodyssey project with Steambot looked ambitious but who knows what it would have been.)

I may be jumping down your throat because you said you were "wary" of the situation and didn't just say "Fucken High Voltage?!??!!?!?!?!" But there are miles of road in game production, and companies have talents (and failure points) that as a game buyer you never know about until you get the final product. High Voltage has great technical skill, Kojima Productions sets a high standard, and PS2 remastering (while being a MUCH bigger job than people think) is a manageable task for these two talents. I don't see worry here from the technical aspect, I think they CAN do a good job; the only reason the Silent Hill HD worry might be legit is because High Voltage is not a company beyond taking a short and cramped job, and Konami has proven that it's not absolutely reverent in treating its masterworks, but with KojiPro producing this and all the time that's been given to the project, I think there's reason to have decent faith.

Konami really trying hard to be all over map with these HD remasters aren't they? Well at least Hijinks is a known quantity and we know we aren't in for more of their...work.

You are bustin' my balls, Donkey.

Gotta keep dem salt levels high, dude.

Anyway, found my E3 build impressions from an older thread:

Played a bit of the demo (chose ZOE 2) at E3 today and it was not 60 fps. It basically retained the same frame rate as the PS2 games (slowdown and all) and the up-rez'd FMVs didn't look too hot (pics were redrawn like shown before though).

Kinda killed the wind out of my sails for it, but since it's gonna be awhile before it comes out, I'm hoping they can hit that 60 fps like they mentioned on their site.

I meant to say it wasn't a solid 60 fps like we were all hoping, so basically... faithful port. xD TBF, I don't mind slowdown here and there, but the one part of the game that could really have used the solid framerate would be the giant battle prior to getting
Zero Shift
. We'll see if any changes have been made since then though, but I'm on the side of "doubt it." Still getting it though. ^^

The one thing I really wanted from the combat was a more interesting combo system, a la DMC. It's fun as it is, but it really could have been a lot more.

From what I know they did a competent job with The Conduit on a technical level. Why is everyone so worried? It's not like they're changing the game itself.

Silent Hill has scared a lot of people with it's HD collection.

However i'm sure this port will be fine.
Hell Kojima Productions is still attached in some scale and I can't see him okaying something thats broken like Silent Hill was.

Still slowdowns? Gotta be kidding me....(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Was hoping for a port that would run at 60 fps all the way with no hiccups found in the original whatsoever (Is that really too much to ask for a port of a 8 year old game?). My hype just went down the gutter. This is no longer day one for me. :/

It's still got awhile before release so you never know.
The closest thing I can think of is lost odyssey.
Where the load times were bad in the review code, but the actual product patched that all up.

If Kojima Productions still has the final source code, we won't have to be worried -- wasn't the problem with Silent Hill Collection that the final source code was lost and they had to make do with some alpha or beta code?

Please don't suck please don't suck. SH collection completely raped the two defining survival horror games, I don't think I will be able to take this collection doing the same. I have some really fond memories playing ZOE1 & 2, both are simply magnificent.

Because that was totally developed by High Voltage Software, a company with some degree of competency in technical areas.

Oh wait....

I think the reason why a lot of people are reacting the way they are is the Silent Hill collection showing that Konami has zero standards for quality control and isn't willing to stand by their product.

at least this one is game from Kojima Production, I sure hope they have higher standard than Konami.
