Bullshit until proven otherwise.

Yup, though I do like the idea of DLC being free if you link the 2 games, but possibly being paid if you don't. Rewards people for buying both without making it an exclusive club to people who can't or won't buy both. Give them the option to purchase at a reasonable price.

A random guy wrote this on 4chan without proof:

That whole thing sounds completely false due to the whole Ridley being wingless and growing wings. Sounds like desperate theory crafting to both make him fit on stage for the "too big" argument followers as well as tie into the form the Master Core took making folks want to believe it was the Ridley concept art that inspired it.

The rest though I could honestly see.

That whole fake leak and Ridley's the bit you go after?

No, I just stopped reading the leak altogether after that. I know it sounds petty, but leaks involving Ridley as a normal playable character to me generally come across as pandering to Smash fans by telling them what the 'leaker' thinks they want to hear.

well actually Marth does carry the Fire Emblem around in his games :p
Interestingly enough it was Smash Bros which got the Fire Emblem downgraded from a shield to an accessory.

In the original Fire Emblem it was Marth's shield. It made sense since Naga gave humanity a tooth and a scale, the tooth became the Falchion and the scale became the Fire Emblem. Shield and sword. Makes sense.

But with Melee Sakurai didn't want Marth being confused with Link so he left out the shield to make him more visually distinct.

Since that was the first time the rest of the world had been introduced to Marth, the image stuck, and with the remakes and in Awakening the Fire Emblem got downgraded.

Isn't the Emblem just an emblem in FE6? Is that technically post Melee dev?

The more I see Little Mac the more I feel like he actually captures the spirit of being in a boxing match. He seems like a character that you should not be reckless with. Proper footwork (spacing in this case), a sharp mind and dodging maneuvers are key. A character where you absolutely do not want to get hit as. The stage is the ring, going off stage is a down you can't afford.

Exaggerating obviously and not being exactly specific here, but as a boxer myself, I'm exited to try him out.

EDIT: Oh damn this isn't the thread that I intended to post this in lol. Well I'll keep the post here anyway since it's still on topic.

I found this list very interesting. If people want to play the games to learn anything about the characters that made in Smash.

http://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/2h3uxx/never_knew_a_represented_smash_characters/

Hello all! Going to put a strong warning now

Do remember Rule 8
Do not direct users to sources of pirated content on /r/smashbros. If you wish to find illegal content online, it is up to you to find it.

Anyways, many of us have played Smash. Surprising, yes. (I know there are those lurkers who's first smash game will be the 3ds/wii u version and I welcome you all!) But there's something a lot of us haven't done.
And that is played the games where the characters originated from.
I know for damned sure that half of you haven't played the Mother series or Xenoblade Chronicles. 2 hours on Donkey Kong...

Yeah... I know 75m's pretty hard, but 2 hours?

Also, what're we basing the ending of Duck Hunt off of? The part where the ducks glitch out and become unshootable? Either way, that's cool to know of the more linear series! And a sad reminder that I will probably never actually beat Xenoblade.

Maturity, bitches.
Just buy NES Remix 1 & 2 and you'll easily experience most of what the NES classics have to offer. 1 especially since those games are mostly the single screen games.

I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm looking at ordering a couple of these Fight Pads: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LSBNSAO/

When it says wired, does that mean wired straight in to the front of the Wii U, like a normal console, or do I plug the wire in to the Wiimote like the Wii Pro Controller?

These look like they plug directly into the Wiimote. Though if you're planning on getting one of those, you might just wanna get the gamecube controller adapter.

There are no controller ports for the Wii U. It will have to plug into the Wiimote.

For GCN controllers you have to buy a special adapter that plugs into the USB ports of the Wii U.

Well, he's well liked among those who were only exposed to him in Melee - why else would PM bring him back? Though that doesn't change the fact that he should never return, even as DLC.
I fail to see how Project M is at all relevant to the development of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
Yeah, Mewtwo's the only "required" veteran who needs to return from Melee in my mind.

Pichu, Roy, and Young Link are all pretty "eh" to me. Maybe if Toon Link fades (as in he doesn't get any new games) and we get OOT 3D and MM 3D with Young Link, he could come back in Smash 5, but I think Toon Link is pretty popular in his own right now and has Wind Waker (HD), Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Four Swords Adventure under his belt.
Young Link is a character in two older Zelda games, whereas Toon Link represents an entire section of the Zelda series. I can't see Young Link replacing Toon Link for any reason.

Nintendo turns 125 on the 23rd (tomorrow in US, today in Japan), so I hope they do something special to celebrate. Wouldn't it be cool to have a worldwide release of a game celebrating Nintendo's history on the 125th anniversary?
I'm still hoping for a Hanafuda card deck with Smash Bros. stuff. Seeing all Nintendo series being represented on Nintendo's beginnings would be so cool.

Is there a video with Villager's chant? I want to compare it with the potential ice climber's one, to see if it's actually murabito or popo and nana.

Since it's the 125th anniversary of Nintendo, here are two things I would still like to see represented as items in Smash Bros. along with Hanafuda cards:

Ultra Hand
I'm not really sure what it would do, but maybe it could help with grabs?

Ultra Machine
This should act as a turret, or maybe it should be part of Rusty's moveset.

http://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/2h3uxx/never_knew_a_represented_smash_characters/

It's a nice idea, but his Mega Man list is rather sloppy and weird.

Mega Man Series (Mega Man)
Mega Man (NES) - Average Completion Time - 3 hours
Mega Man II (GBA) - Average Completion Time - 4 hours
Mega Man X (Wii) - Average Completion Time - 4 hours
Mega Man Zero (GBA) - Average Completion Time - 3 hours
Megaman III-VIII (Varies) - Average Completion Time - 25 hours

Any proper MM fan knows you use numbers for the main series and Roman numerals for the Gameboy series. And Mega Man II for the GB is considered the worst of the lot. If he meant the classic MM2, why play that on the GBA? Why have 1 and 2 seperate from 3-8? I can kind of understand Mega Man Zero being there (like X, similar gameplay) but not really needed as there's no content from the Zero series. Also, might as well add Battle Network and Legends because of his Final Smash.

It isn't and shouldn't be considered.

same here, plus it's nice to have some variation in character design, which makes it kinda suck that they stuck to the TP designs for the main three AGAIN. could've easily been Link>SS, Zelda>TP, and Ganondorf>OOT3D and it would've covered a pretty sizable range of the series. But could've, should've, would've...

I would get a set of Smash-themed Hanafuda cards.

Then maybe I'd learn how to play Hanafuda.

could've easily been Link>SS, Zelda>TP, and Ganondorf>OOT3D and it would've covered a pretty sizable range of the series. But could've, should've, would've...
That would've been really sloppy and jarring. Characters who appear together within the same game should stick to a unified art style. Sakurai handled the Zelda character designs the right way.

I'm going to agree with you here.
The reason why Toon Link works is that the "Celda" we see in Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Four Swords, and more all fit the same exact style. The rest of the series is pretty inconsistent in art design, and I think using Twilight Princess as a unifying base was a good idea.
Though, I am biased - I think the Twilight Princess designs for the characters are the best (behind Wind Waker graphics of course).

Maturity, bitches.
I like TP's designs but I would have preferred if Ganondorf didn't have the stab wound in his chest so he came off as a more general Ganondorf rather than specifically TP Ganondorf.

I liked how Brawl got rid of the wound - it's weird they brought it back.

Honestly man get a first party controller, isn't this from PDP? Yeah I would avoid it. To answer you question though it has to connect to the wii mote, unless they changed it.

Last summer when Earthbound was released on the Wii U VC, an "Onett Times" admin community dedicated to "Earthbound news" popped up that never developed into anything.

Us hopeless Mother geeks immediately concluded it meant we'd get Mother 3.

Nintendo has done stuff like this before.
Pikmin 3 short videos confirmed: March 11 2013
Pikmin 3 short videos confirmed again: September 11 2014
Eighteen month difference between the initial announcement and the announcement that they're still coming.

I also remember seeing trademarks pop up for NES Remix and S.T.E.A.M.: Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace several months before their actual announcement, I guess they just work slowly.

EDIT: Here we go, April 7 for S.T.E.A.M. and November 20 for NES Remix, so about one to two months before the announcement. Not as much as I thought.

EDIT again: Shin-Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem announced on January 23 2013, with nothing new since announced then, aside from the "not dead" confirmation at E3 2014. Tomorrow will be the twenty-month anniversary of the announcement.

Nintendo works very slowly.
