Steins gate 0 coming to the west

I'll get the Vita version, but if it's really good, I might the PS4 version on sale down the line.

And apparently that's not all

Fantastic.

I really need to go back and play the first steins;gate.

Zero Escape is like my favorite series but I just couldn't get into steins;gate. Thought it started really slow, but I only got about 3 hours in. I'll stick with it next go around.
There's a lot of explanation and character introduction the first few hours but once it gets going it really gets going.

Weren't there 2 more Steins;Gate Vita games waiting to be localized? Do we need to play them to enjoy Steins;Gate 0?

S;G was the best VN I played. This is a definite purchase for me. Fucking love VN's, they're the perfect games for in bed.

Great news, though I heard that there will be a different translation team working on it. Hopefully their work will be as good, if not better than S;G's translation

That's because they have a godawful and meh anime adaptations, respectively. Apparently C;H's VN is actually good. And, well, C;C is C;H's sequel, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to start from C;C.
R;n, problem wasn't the anime. It actually follow the game pretty closely.

5pb's internal translations in the past have been distinctly not good so here's hoping. Does PQube even do their own translations?

PQube is small and never localized anything, unless they hired translators it's probably outsourced, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Even Square Enix does it.

Well, hope it turns out ok. It'd be nice to have another good VN to toss on the pile of recent and upcoming good releases. We already got ZE3, Gahkthun, Kindred Spirits, a good Umineko TL, and Fata Morgana all within one year, I don't think there's ever been this much good stuff to come out at such a rapid pace.

What internal translations has 5pb done?

Yeah, it's a pretty great year.

Seriously do not click if you haven't got the true ending of steins gate
It's not. It's in the timeline where Okabe gives up trying to save Kurisu, and she dies, on the beta worldline. Presumably the goal is to get far enough on the right path for Okabe to send the message back that gave him the kick he needed to reach steins;gate in the original title. Perhaps that's too obvious

Maybe wait until we actually see the result? I don't see why only they are qualified to translate this game.

Yup, I don't really have preference so won't judge before its out. Just hoping the translation is as good or even better.
If going in-house means more timely translations I'm all-in for that.

This is great news, so glad it's coming here so soon. I will say that though Steins:Gate is one of my favourite games, I'm actually still a bit wary of this, I might wait for impressions to hear what its like before jumping in.

Every impression from the Japanese speakers I know who've played it has been positive, and the few spoilers I've picked up on sound very interesting.

Oh my lord. Getting this day one physical on Vita. Steins;Gate ended up being one of my favourite games so I'm really looking forward to this. I'm really glad this might come out before the anime adaptation so I can worry less about avoiding spoilers.

Honestly wasn't expecting to get this so soon, guess Steins;Gate did really well.

Splendid news! I was really hoping Western fans would see an official announcement sooner rather than later with the success of the first Sci;Adv release. It would've been terrible waiting nearly another decade for the next installment assuming the same policies would still be in motion, but Sony appears to have relaxed a lot on the English front with their game-play qualifications. I was expecting a localization perhaps next year at the earliest so an apparent fall window is a pleasant surprise and, hopefully, the translation doesn't suffer in the hasty effort to get it in our hands.

Great, good that I didn't jump the button and order standard edition just yet.
Although it won't effect the actual game, you might want to wait to see whether the listings get split between their respective regions as well on the chance you prefer to have either a North America (ESRB) or United Kingdom (PAL) copy. Ultimately, the standard edition became a Amazon exclusive in the USA, but the limited edition for the country had to be directly imported from Rice Digital UK. It was a nerve-wrecking situation, too, since PQube didn't announce they were going to make an ESRB-certified limited edition until after all the PAL copies sold out.

And Root Letter and Muv-Luv. Pretty good year for VNs.

Psycho-Pass doesn't count.
I'm pretty excited for all of those releases! Psycho-Pass will probably turn out to be a serviceable affair at best, but I enjoyed the first season enough to give it a purchase. Aren't physical copies of Muv-Luv locked behind the Kickstarter campaign? I've heard numerous praise for the franchise, but I can't seem to enjoy any visual novels that had pornographic origins after giving Song of Saya and Katawa Shoujo an opportunity before leaving disappointed with the narrative quality in both works. I'll confess they attempted to make the sex scenes relevant to their stories to a degree yet the pacing suffers notable to facilitate pure fan service in the grand scheme. I'm aware the Vita version will be neutered in that regard, but I'm sure the undertone of those nixed scenes will continue to relevant in an "off-screen" manner.

Didn't first print copies in Japan come with a remaster of the first one? Any chance of that happening with this release too?
A "remastered" version of the first title was bundled with earlier copies as a downloadable voucher, but I doubt the localization will include the same bonus given it would require additional development work to insert the translation onto new systems along with getting it approved by the rating boards. Besides, the Japanese release appears to have been a rushed job since it presumably didn't feature trophy support.

It's almost an universal sentiment that the first half of Steins;Gate moves tremendously slow to explore the "slice of life" side of the cast of characters before diving aggressively into the better known time-travel portion. Trust me as it all pays off in the long run and, once a certain scene occurs at the mid-point of the story, it'll sink its teeth into your jugular in the most pleasant way and you'll refuse to stop reading until you've exhausted every one of the potential endings. I highly recommend that you keep going, especially with your affection for the Zero Escape projects!

Slightly off topic, but the porn in Muv Luv isn't like the porn in either of those games where it actually matters to the overall story. All of the H scenes in the original game are situated at the end of their respective routes and there's only one per route. In Alternative there are only two H scenes, and the game is 50+ hours long to begin with so their removal doesn't mean much.

Yet still no Robotics notes. The popular things get every thing :/

I'm more concerned about CH;N or C;C than R;N. Hopefully we'll get those too.
