Oooookkaaaayyyy... someone's a little defensive.

not defensive...it's just the ridiculous truth of the matter. It's day in and day out of Sony doom and gloom for no good reason. Sure, Sony has made shitty decisions which deserve criticism, but to brand the company with doom and gloom incessantly is quite annoying and short-sighted. The paradox of the internet is that what is the most loud, vitriolic banter on here is something which the general public pays little or no attention to. To exemplify my thinking (and reality), I provide this excerpt from an editorial piece on gamesindustry.biz:

None of that changes the fact that the company is, in sheer unit volume terms, the creator of the most successful games consoles in the world - and that it has proved in the course of two console generations that it alone had the muscle to provide a software line-up broad and deep enough to drive its platform, and the PlayStation brand, into the minds of the mass market. While it would be rash to disregard the level of discontent among hardcore consumers with some of Sony's decisions on the PS3, it's equally important to recognise that the specialist press and the tiny segment of the public who vocalise their opinions online don't tell the whole story. The tens of millions of consumers who have owned no console without the word "PlayStation" in its name in the past decade are largely unmoved by criticism of the PS3 - and while they may baulk at the price point, and may take a year or two to buy into the new system as a result, they're still waiting for a new PlayStation, not a new games console. The distinction is key, and it's the reason why this generation remains Sony's to lose, not Microsoft's - or even Nintendo's - to win.

It's' a great article. I suggest you read it. Really states the reality of the industry's situation.

I just want to hear how many NEW tracks are present in Ridge 7. Some of the most recent preview vids demonstrated tracks from RR6 and that's NOT what I want to see. Those tracks were solid, but they lacked a certain "something". The newer PS3 tracks I've seen looked so much more appealing and I'm disappointed that RR6 tracks have returned.

Did you not try to get a PS3 today, or am I mistakenly thinking you still live in Japan?

Wow, the picture quality is extremely good on our 37 inch HD Dell LCD screen. Marlon Wayans stars a diminutive thief. I assume he's the titular "little man".

UPDATE 10:40 am PST--SPOILER ALERT!!!

I've reached plot point one! Details after the jump...

The cops were after Marlon Wayans, who is very short. He evaded capture by pretending to be a baby!

Okay, this was a dumb idea and I'm stopping now. But there really is a noticeable difference in picture quality between Blu-Ray and plain vanilla DVD. I'm not sure how pronounced that difference is--maybe I should rent Little Man on a standard DVD and check?
OMG :lol

He gets a PS3 and Wii plus ZELDA and he watches little man!!

Nope, not right now.

I'm certainly trying to return, though, as I quite enjoyed it. :(

We just woke everyone up with a loud song of Happy Birthday for Reno.

Mind you, I don't know how anyone could sleep with the GODDAMNED ROADWORKS going on next door -- wtf.

Ah I see. Then I assume you will be joining the crowds next Thursday night?
Nope. I'll be taking a half day off from work, driving up to Gamestop, and grabbing my pre-ordered unit. :) Hopefully all goes according to plan.

PS3 Accepts Any Third-Party HDD

According to the PlayStation 3's included Safety and Support manual, the system will accept any 2.5" Serial ATA hard disc drive, and not only officially licensed Sony products. This opens up the possibility of installing a much larger drive than what the system comes with. The manual does note that "Proper operation is not guaranteed for all models" of hard drives, but obviously this is Sony's "just in case" small print.
