Having never added a badge to my Steam profile I was perusing Steam Card Exchange, and there are some attractive designs, often from unexpected games.

This is the worst kind of badge for me. All fairly generic versions of the logo for the game and I don't really get the "progression". Never mind that you wouldn't see all of the badges on your profile at the same time anyway, so progression doesn't really mean anything. I prefer ones with interesting art, the Sakura Spirit one is great. I actually like the Binding of Isaac ones a lot too because the character sprites lend well, although I'd prefer them to have a bunch of Isaacs with different item effects.

Generally though I only craft badges when there's a sale on for the metagame. I just sell the cards otherwise.

Off-Topic: People really collect badges? I pretty much never view peoples steam pages so I never see them. I just sell all my cards and get a few dollars here and there from it.

Altho I did have to get the System Shock 2 SHODAN wallpaper for my steam page background so maybe the badge thing isnt that crazy then..

On-Topic: Witcher 2 is my favorite by far!

Some do, others craft them to level up (in order to expand the capacity of their friends list for ex), and some are just looking for something to add to their profile page (like I was originally).

Since there are so many games out there it can sometimes be hard to find ones you like, especially since many of more interesting badges come from unexpected games.
