Gymnastics at the Olympics / Worlds |OT| Artistic, Rhythmic, & Trampoline

Someone who knows more about the program than me can maybe enlighten me, but why isn't there a program for the men's team like there are for the women's? Now that the USA Gymanstics bought the facility from the Karolyis, do they plan to have a men's program there as well?

He's fine.

I hope Simone sticks her vault and floor landings. I need her to shock the world.

A little late for her to shock the world. Did she not land it in training?

Trivia time: The US has only ever won silver in women's vault, never gold or bronze.

Beautiful floor routines. In addition to Eythora's, I also love Leah Griesser of Germany's floor routine, even though it's kind of cheesy or w/e, it's pretty unique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvEc4Difn2U

Yeah that's a good one too.

The Karolyi Ranch is just for the women. The US men train at the OTC (Olympic Training Center) in Colorado Springs. I think they do monthly training camps there just like the women do at the ranch.

It's just that they never had the success
or the talent
that the women have now.

Are you sure? I know men train tramp at the ranch. Maybe it's just special events?

I forgot about Trampoline lol. The Tumbling and Trampoline people do train at the ranch, so I guess all the guys from those sports go there yes.

The National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch (Bela and Marta Karolyi) is the home for the Women’s Artistic, Sport Acro, Rhythmic, Tumbling and Trampoline and General Gymnastic Programs.

https://usagym.org/pages/trainingcenter/

But everyone from Men's Artistic are training at the USOTC:

The U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) also serves as the primary training site for the men’s gymnastics. All senior and junior national team camps, as well as the men’s development team and education programs, are conducted on the USOTC complex.

Dragulescu is my favorite vaulter, love that pic

Simone stuck vault in training:

damn, that can't get any better, she will be unbeatable if she does that.

I hope someone does a produnova in the woman's competition, that would be a first at an Olympic event. The girl from India has the biggest chance I think,

Simone is the queen. If only the U.S. could put together a strong Olympic men's team. They need someone with her level of skill and dedication.

They need a program similar to the women's, which has been incredibly successful. Title IX has also negatively affected the men's program over the years.

Really? I know we all like different things and thats cool but the ultimate test of strength is boring?

I just asked because it seems weird to have a thread on gymnastics without mentioning the main event

Holding static positions just isn't the most exciting thing to watch in my opinion, as impressive as it may be. I'd rather watch 10 pommel horse routines than a rings one tbh.

And we all know beam is the ultimate event.

It is known.

Last subdivision starts in one hour. I'm already doing a prayer circle for the safety of my faves.

Igor Radivilov will probably attempt a handspring triple front on vault and I just don't think I can watch it. I really hope he doesn't do it, cause if it goes wrong he might break his neck.

Wow a gymnastics thread. Watching SEC gymnastics is underrated. I went out to a few of the competitions when I was at UF and they owned. Former Olympians were on that team too I believe.

I always catch it at the olympics.

The chinese team on parallel bars :O So good. Also what a handsome team haha.

I really like Oleg Vernyayev for some reason. He's very supple and classy. Remember him from 2012 as well.

ME TOO!!! I'm so looking forward to this to learn to actually be impressive hopefully lmao.

Haha, yeah. Fun to see another one! It's so much fun even if I can't even do a backflip yet :D Soon, though!

Trying to observe these guys really close. Makes it much more exciting to watch when you try some of the things yourself.

Oleg Verniaiev (UKR) - 15.183 (15.066 & 15.300)
González Tomás (CHI) - 15.149 (15.233 & 15.066)

Fixed that.

Also, Tomás was pissed off, he prepared a lot for Floor and he felt that the Brazilians were favored (Nory specifically and in some case Hypolito) and the routine he made should have been higher, hell, he felt that the Brazilians should have been lower.

Also he's now focusing on Vault since all the work he did for Floor went straight to the trash and now he has to prepare in a couple days for Vault.
