PlayStation Network Thread | December 2015

Gamasutra.
I presume this is out in December looks good new trailer

Very interesting looking. Definitely a distinctive art style.

I checked out this video and looked at SKA's website. The only thing that really troubles me is the part about "brutal signature combat" and "an unforgiving world". It looks like something that might appeal to the part of me that loved Guacamelee, but I want something I can succeed at playing...

Not as high on the Wall of Shame as I have been in the past.

Quiet month for me, EDF 2 is Feb here. That said, I can't believe Civ Rev 2 is real and finally coming to Vita. I have my copy from Play-Asia pre-ordered... along with Walking Dead S1 to push my order just over $60 so I could use the voucher!

Can't wait! Gonna use December to catch up on many games.

SSX meanwhile isnt a back to the old ssx games but it is a fun game on its own. SSX is a nice game to play just for fun, to see the wacky, out of this world type of sport that wouldn't fly in the real world.

I will defend this SSX to the death. It's very different to the original games but I would definitely say it's just as good. I had an absolutely fantastic time with the Global Events system; and the tight, fun SSX controls are still there like always.

Anybody have that how to guide on upgrading the PS4s HDD?

Also...will this affect P.T.?

Someone in the November thread mentioned they just upgraded their HDD, and used a specific method to keep PT and it worked for them. Might want to check the last ~5-10 pages there. But yes, unless you specifically back up and restore a certain way you will lose PT.

I think they had the most success deleting every game except for PT, then doing a USB backup and restoring that after changing the HDD. If you try to do a straight USB backup with all your games installed it will likely take forever and a half.

First of all, I must say that it's more of an endgame thing, but there's too much RNG involved if you want some optimal weapons (which you do not depend to clear the main story - might have a hard time doing it with AI instead of other people though):

- create the weapon you want. You want it to be at least of Rarity 6 (it goes from 1 to 8 and is random);
- check the growth rate for it. It's random. You'd want it to be 1;
- check if it's an late bloomer (late bloomer weapons have bigger % to stat increase at higher levels, resulting in better stats than an early bloomer later on). Random;
- the attributes if comes with are random too, but they can be removed if needed.

So, a bunch of RNG things after, you have your pretty weapon. Now it's time to get some nice attributes (buffs) on it. You can "feed" a weapon with another one. The attributes from the fodder will carry on, but:

- it's not guaranteed that all the attributes from the fodder will carry over;
- it's not guaranteed that the attributes from the original weapon will be maintained;
- the resulting weapon can get some new attributes, some of which are bad.

Now, you can have some kind of control here - there's a fixed amount of maintained, inherited and new attributes depending on the rarity of the weapon, so you can have a fodder only with good ones to be inherited. There's also some items you can use during fusion to shield the attributes of the original weapon from being replaced/removed. Finally, you are able to remove bad attributes for a price in EP.

"Well, but I can save scum if I get a bad roll, right?"

Kinda. Freedom Wars has no save slots, saves immedialy when you begin crafting something, and saves again right after the crafting is done (it takes some minutes, but can be sped up with specialists), so you can't just close the game and load it back - you need to upload you save to PS+ (or PC/PS3) before you start crafting, and if you don't like the results you quit the game, roll back your save, and do it again.

So it's just overly complicated. In other "hunting games" you just need to farm materials and craft shit, but here there's just so many little details to go to get a good endgame weapon (not even talking about god tier stuff) that it breaks the flow and tires you out.

But even than, I love this game so much. If you guys need help doing missions and we can manage to even timezones differences, I'm in.

Not so good for min maxers, because the results are randomized.

I personally don't care too much about that. I don't need to have the absolutely best weapon.

Thank you for your answers.

Im ok with some random parts in the crafting (iirc Diablo 3 had a few elements like "strength between x-xx" or "4 random special abilities"),but the way you describe it sounds like you cant juste create a bunch of weapons till it fits/almost everything is random. Good to see that it is more of an endgamething and you don`t need it to finish the campaign.

Only played a few missions yet, but I like it. The last (an only) hunting/similar game I played for an eternity was Monster Hunter 1 on the Ps2 (god, thank you DMC3 for the free Demo...).

Can anyone confirm this is not true with King's Quest PS+ situation?

This is real for ALL King's Quest versions on ALL platforms, including Steam and One.
EDIT: I looked and you CAN buy the Complete Collection on PSN having the first free episode from Plus. So this makes basically USELESS the free episode you get with plus: you don't get a discount and Sony basically wasted this free game slot with the game, since:

-it's not the full game, so to understand the story you NEED to play other episodes. So in the case you like the game, ehy, go buy episode 1 again with Complete collection because
-it doesn't offer a discount on complete collection

This is a new low even for Sony, considering usually companies give for free the first episode (Tales from the Borderlands, Revelations 2, A game of thrones just to make some examples), or offer a discount in the case you buy the first episode (Life is Strange)/the opportunity to buy single episodes (Revelations 2, LIS).

I want to make a thread about this PS, but do you have any other sources for the epilogue lockout?

tHANKS, made a thread about it, dunno how much good it'll do but it needs to be more known.

Though I think you're over reacting a little; the Season Pass for TT games don't discount further if you own Ch. 1 and 2 only for example, so the same would apply here.

Getting Ch. 1 of KQ this way acts more as a demo, if the consumer likes it, they can get the SP or CC. In this case, the consumer can get the CC whenever it is discounted to a price they like, for example it was recently under $30 on US PSN.

Yep, season passes for TT games won't get a discount, but you won't pay (because you need to pay a month of Plus to get KQ Ep.1 for free) to play Episode 1. It's free for all, it's like a demo. So by giving me KQ Ep.1 on Plus I expect at least a discount to buy Complete Collection (not the season pass because it doesn't contain episode 1).
It's like when you buy a DLC for a game you got with Plus, basically, you won't end up paying the game again, only the DLC.

Bought BigFest

I've been waiting for a long time to play this game... It's very rare that I buy any games without checking reviews or opinions first but, fuck it!

Haha, same here. Well, I did not buy the game yet, but a Psn card.

Can you two (and everyone who played it already) share your impressions?

While my download speed has become acceptable over the last firmware updates I now have another problem. When I check notifications-downloads, I noticed it takes up to ten minutes "preparing to download" (% slowly creeping to 100). Anyone else having this problem? It didn't used to do that, it took maybe 10 seconds before.

Am i right thinking that's a sort of musical-themed clone of Theme Park? If so how does it compare to Theme Park?

Pretty much. I haven't played theme park since it came out (on the Amiga) but I would say that BigFest is a less complex/more strealined version of that game (no hiring of workers, desiding amount of sugar/salt or economics).

I'm on my way to work right now but if I remember correctly the currency in BF is tickets and not money.

Instead of competing with other (AI) festivals you have stars(think olliolli not shi*ty phone games) you earn from clearing objectives each mission and your festival is persistent and carries over between missions.

The moment to moment gameplay contains helping your bands with different tasks (someone lost his/her guitar right before entering the stage) maintenance and upgrading your festival based on what your visitors say. It also means that you have to take care of thieves, sick people etc. Every interaction is done by the touchscreen (tap on buildings or thought bubbles to get more information.

I'm not that far into the game (and keep in mind that I might be easy to please) so I can only speak about my time with it but this far it's been everything I wanted and more and for someone like me, that find searching for new music harder and harder for every year, the theme is a great addition to the genre.

Edit: The only thing that feels like a missed opportunity is that I haven't found any Christmas music yet ;)

Saw the news about V3 being its own thing, and Hope's Peak story continuing through anime on Gematsu this morning. I posted my thoughts on AnimeGAF since they were talking about it there also:

Myself said:
I see what they are doing. I mean the mediums in Japan I'm sure are more closely tied than here. How many anime get adaptations, or games, or manga, etc. I'm sure the crowed they are after will easily carry over. The writer probably wants to start anew with V3 on the Vita (which looks awesome BTW, a cyborg MC waaaat) and finish Hope's Peak story through anime. It didn't quite work before, since it was a bit rushed but I have faith.

Also this being Kazutaka Kodaka and all, I wouldn't be surprised if the anime and game tied together at some point. Like characters from on being gone on one side for a bit just to show up on the other. That would be kind of cool.

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 Plus for PlayStation Vita is now launching in North America and Europe on January 26, 2016. Meanwhile, 2K is launching the product as scheduled in Asia on December 3, 2015. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause in light of the holiday season, but appreciate your patience as we continue to prepare the title for global release this coming year.

I also played Theme Park on the Amiga! :D

Isn't Idea Factory supposed to have something going on today? Do we have a time, so we can expect news?

"On December 3rd, 2015 from 6pm-9pm, Iffy is having its 2nd press event ever in San Francisco!"

Should have at least 1 game announcement for a PlayStation platform (my guess: FFF PS4):

"Reminder! We will be at PlayStation Experience, Dec 5th-6th, with demos and free PSX-exclusive giveaways! Visit us at booth #1140!

Now that we’re closer to the date, who will be there?

We’ll have these awesome games on demo for you:
-Megadimension Neptunia VII (PS4)
-Trillion: God of Destruction (PS Vita)
-TBA at our press event (Dec 3rd)"

I'm guessing they'll announce a load of porting of their stuff to PC at the event too,

Thank you for the heads up :D!

I hope we get localization news on the two Vita Neptuina spin-offs (Blanc vs. Zombies and Neptuina vs. Sega Hard Girls) and other announcements from Idea Factory :).

Been playing Lost Song and the PS+ title Rocketbirds, and man, the latter surprised me.

I like the harsher tone than the name implied; the world is very dark, the characters look rough and the story is a genuine war story (with Hardboiled being a tragic character). Like the game of this one a lot, as it feels like a mixture of a standard action platformer but with touches of Oddworld Abes Oddysee; quite a few combat sections, different screens to navigate across, and even possession mechanics that popped up in the fiftieth chapter. The controls are a little stiff and it is odd playing a 2D platformer with a analog stick (no option to use the D-Pad) but it feels good. The game has flying mechanics with the jet pack and those are a lot of fun; you have great control of how fast you are going and using the mini-gun to kill foes while flying around is a lot of fun. It reminded me a lot of Luftrausers a bit.

Enjoying the game a lot and its nice that the title final came to PS+ (always thought that it would come to the service at some point but it was a nice holiday surprise :)).

Lost Song continues to be a lot of fun, with stronger weapons, more magic to play around with and the story going in directions that seem quite interesting. Currently at the ice island in the game and completed one or two dungeons on it (unlocked Rain as a playable character/party member too). Really surprised with Rain, as she is very powerful; more or less a female version of Kirtio (she dual-wields swords, has a lot of the same attacks, ect). Might swap Kirtio out with her once he retches level 250 or higher thanks to this :D.

The ice island is a great location, as the music of the place is relaxing in addition to the pressure of lack of flight (due to attitude levels being lower than in other islands). Looking forward in beating this place and seeing what more stuff I can find :D.

So I just got a 2nd PS4 for upstairs however my primary PS4 is my first one. On my primary one, my main account (EU) can access the games on an NA account that I created and the upstairs one seems to be able to access games from my main account too however it won't let me access games from the NA account on the upstairs one, is there anything I can do to get them working?

I think the setup you're looking for only works with the primary PS4, so you're SOL unless you reverse it (primary NA on the other one, EU secondary).

So big fest is out on the na store for 10 dollars , anyone buying it?

I bought it yesterday. Can`t say to much about it, but it is fun. Not the deepest manager experience (I guess, I am not an expert), but good enough. You got to search your bands for your festivals (three was the maximum so far. Opener, support and headliner. You can search the bands via a list and there are ~10 different genres) and while they play (they always play one song so far) you need to look out for the visitors (is there enough to drink/eat, toilets, trashcans, tents for them, are there hooligans etc.). Some of the bands may have problems and you have to spent some money to make them lucky (10 buckets of tears from orphans, puppies and so on) or send a roadie or search their instruments by yourself. You have to react when the weather changes (change from hot drinks to cold drinks and so on) and sent ill visitors home. Not far into the game, maybe there are more features later in the game. Every festival has some missions (three so far, like get xx visitors/vibe, earn xx money) and can be replayed.

I really like it. Found a few good acts so far (Respect your mom >all)

Here are a few more impressions.

So apparently, GE2 RB got a Gold Prize in PlayStation Awards. (Which is given to titles that shipped 500k copies/DLs).

How much did vanilla GE2 do?

Minecraft has shipped over 1 million units in Asian regions.
It usually shows up in every weekly Media Create thread.

DQ Builders is very likely to be a big hit in Asia.

Otherwise, where's the cheapest to get Minecraft PS4? Digitally it's $20 atm, was it discounted before without me knowing about it?
