Crytek UK's (Homefront: The Revolution) Staff No Longer Going To Work

No way to tell if this is legit, but seems like the mud is starting to be slung by Crytek employees. There is a long comment on Jason's story that if legit is pretty interesting:

http://kotaku.com/jason-if-you-are-a-journalist-you-should-perhaps-inves-1600199064

A small sample from the beginning of the comment:

"Jason, if you are a journalist you should perhaps investigate a few things.

Such as the number of employees that are blood related to the Yerlis. The Turkish option for language, the number of other languages put in just to cover up this fact.

The studio in Turkey is an expenditure studio, it was never meant to produce anything under the guise of "Engine sales with the eastern world" but judging from the Yerli familys apartment investments, this looks like a money laundering scheme."

Thanks for the link and Holy Shit! You seriously need to read the full comment in the link. Talk of promotions to friends of the brothers, office affairs netting people a promotion, people hired in positions they clearly weren't qualified for, it's sounds like a mad house in there. Well, that might be an exaggeration, but it's not pretty.

I don't even care if it's true or not, that Kotaku comment is the greatest thing I've ever read. I burst out into uncontrollable laughter several times.

If deep silver bought crytek we might actually get a timesplitters game....right?
I feel like the chances were always better under a different company. Crytek didn't really come off as caring about rescuing series, and of course the one time they do it's a series of questionable creative value.

And honestly it seems more like Deep Silver's flavor. Just look at the Dead Island 2 trailer or Saints Row.

Well according to @TalesFromMyAss Sony is looking to expand their WWS and Crytek is what they are looking at, don't know how credible Tidux is but i saw several people referencing him pre-E3

*tales from my ass*

I could go into how the nano-suit was a very late addition and not planned from the beginning, to the orignal Crysis-game, How developers constantly had to develop things like "being able to pick up insignificant objects" instead of taking their ideas that they've already shown and proven to everyone the team. But in all earnestness its not that interesting to me or you, 1. you wouldn't understand without context. 2. Context is too dangerous as it reviles viewpoints and therefore vantage points, like a slag sitting on a corner, easy to point out.

Hahahahahahaha

I really hope there is some truth in this.

Even Timesplitters 2 HD would be frickin sweet

Feel bad for the folks whose jobs are in trouble, but a silver lining of this whole episode is what it could mean for the Timesplitters IP. Quite clear for a while (especially with Cervat wanting a petition BS) that Crytek never planned on doing anything with it.

Ah, lovely, more insiders. I forget who compared them to psychics, but it was a great analogy: the insider takes a big swing at something, and then if it happens, they look like a genius, while if it doesn't happen, they say there was a change of plans.

"Guerrilla Games is gonna be at E3 with their big new IP... err, sorry, change of plans!"

What do you reckon Jason? Deep Silver saying they're interesting in having a piece of Crytek?
As I reported yesterday, rumor around Crytek UK is that Deep Silver is negotiating over the game, which could mean a lot of things. Could be an outright purchase of Crytek's Nottingham studio, or maybe they'd strike some sort of temporary deal while Homefront is completed. The sense I'm getting is that the folks at Deep Silver have invested a lot of money in this thing, and they don't want to let it fail.

The timing of that tweet is interesting because of what I reported. Are they hinting that yes, negotiations are in the works?

That post at Kotaku is better than the plot for any Crytek game

"You risk nothing, we risk everything."

Jason, this man is asking you to channel your inner Woodward and Bernstein.

The Nanosuit actually was put in late during the development cycle of Crysis. That was mentioned here by Bernd Diemer who was the producer on Crysis. He is at Yager now, working on Dead Island 2.
Yep, I heard this before somewhere as well. Thanks for clarification.

IIRC even the fact with the wife was mentioned somewhere else already.

Lol this is fucking gold and hilarious if true. From the comment:

Her One-eyed boyfriend Jan Lechner was supposed to oversee the 3D production for the Crysis games, but he cant even see in 3D, he now also joined her at Rovio just in time for the troubles to start happening. Crytek have had a colorblind art director, the colour-blindness wasn't a problem, his rudeness was.

Another gem:

So what is the ambiance at Crytek? In crysis2 Cevat forced the developers to model his wife into the game. Scared as people where they did not dare to change anything, resulting in the character having the wrong scale/height for the majority of scenes, out of fear. The Entirety of these games have basically nobody under the age of 18 because Cevat wife spawned an offspring and he become more restrictive than ever about showing any young people that could even resemble his demon-child.

This dude is a character, and seems a tad racist towards Turks. Not really sure if I buy any of this.

Koch Media is only a publisher afaik. There are several smaller studios in Germany but aside from Crytek Frankfurt I can only think of Yager as big enough to tackle a large project.

Koch Media is not only a publisher. They bought Volition with all it's staff and the Saints Row rights back in Feb 2013. I think buying Crytek as a whole would be to expensive for Koch ... but doing some cherry picking like buying Cry Nottingham, Frankfurt and the Crysis rights would be possible.

Beside that there are only some small and just upcoming studios like Yager, Rockfish, Deck 13 and so on.

I don't think Deep Silver has the means to really push for the high-end games Crytek was known for. The games I've seen from them (Dead Island series) are fine, but not really anything impressive visually. Metro Last Light was amazing on PC but that game was basically done when they bought it.

Them buying Crytek would mean a radically different Crytek. And I don't think the gameplay on it's own holds up. The only games from them I can say I've liked without just being blown away by graphics are the original Far Cry and the original Crysis.

El oh fucking el at one eyed guy who can't see in 3D assigned to working on the 3D part of games.

What a mess.

I wouldn't want to hire a rude colorblind as a lead artist either.

I still don't see how those positions require someone with working 3d vision.Felt that was a silly point of criticism.

yeah, I guess it's just a silly little thing to rant about. I see it the same as color blindness, it shouldn't affect anything, but I guess it can if there is a lack of communication between people.
...
Wait, wouldn't not seeing in 3D only make sense if they were working in 3D, not on a 2D monitor? Shouldn't this really have not mattered at all? Unless his job was to convert the game to "3D" 3D, with glasses and such, this is like complaining he has a twitch.

Crytek doesn't either really, else they wouldn't be in this situation with so little to show for it.

I also think that in some ways great graphics can be cheaper than we'd usually think. Granted a lot of that for them has to do with where they're developing and the wages they go for there, but games can get really costly due to motion capture, famous actors/musicians, marketing, etc. Cut the right corners and it seems you can make really nice looking games for cheap.

Every Crysis game has native stereoscopic 3D support.

Sony acquire crytek, why? whats the point in acquiring Guerrilla Games 1.0. nonsense rumor

agreed

they have GG, ICE TEAM, XDEV, and other engine specialist for their WorldWide Studios
no point in getting CryTek

other then Timesplitter they're I.Ps are just okay

if this was true then it would be better for Sony to buy out 2nd party devs like Housemarque, QD, RaD, etc...

_____________

Concerning Crytek though it makes since as to why they are currently having this fallout

new studios, pumping money into engine work, unorganized production layouts

they where too bloated

Shees!

I always wondered why not more developers did not embrace the crytech engine, as it is in my opinion the the best engine around (I was also planning to start a thread of why crytech was not more commercial used, if I some day get elevated from junior status, surprised no one else did it already).

But it's seems to be clear that mismanagement is a big part of it (lack of documentation, lack of respect for their employees/customers, ect). I really hope they get this sorted out, as the/a(UK?) crytech development team deserves much better than this,
