Every cutscene from Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Pachislot

Geez. Can they at least give the MGS series to a talented developer so that we can see this fully realized? I hate that the Fox Engine has gone to complete waste.

God that was painful to watch knowing it will never exist as a full game. MGS3 is probably the most formative game I have played. No game has drawn me in more.

Oh, I know I can, I was just wondering if it's worthwhile to pick up the physical CD. I have pretty much all of the MGS music imported. I'm torn on this because so much of me doesn't want to support it... but if the music is great and there's new content, I'm not sure I can continue to avoid. It's super-evident that the people associated with this put a ton of effort in; makes me wonder if KojiPro was working on this prior to the troubles for other reasons and everything was re-purposed. Shuffling around it doesn't seem like this needs to be in the collection, but if anyone had listened and could mention any more elaborate musical changes I may have missed or were worthwhile, that would be cool!

The rendering quality/lighting is spot on fox engine.

There is no reason not to believe Fox engine could reach that fidelity having seen MGSV.

Indeed I'm pretty sure there was some sort of collaboration involved when you have Ocelot's face remade to match MGSV, and this guy:

It looks very good and it's shocking how faithful it is.

At this point I don't mind that we're not getting a remake, it feels like a beautiful tribute.

Congrats to those who worked on it, they're pretty good.

I'm still a little shocked that people think these cutscenes look good? It all looks like trash budget cg crap. The Boss, Snake, EVA, and Ocelot just look awful.

The only reason it looks passable is because it's mimicking EXACTLY the animation and cinematography from the original game. At that point, I'd much rather just be looking at the original game. The actual game's style and coloring just fits so much better.

Curious, is there an explained reason why the Pachislot dialog is in English*? Why wouldn't they use the Japanese MGS3 dialog tracks for footage of this Japanese-only casino game?

Only reason I can figure is that Pachinko parlors maybe attract a percentage of non-Japanese customers (or do Pachinko machines get bought up at casinos in other parts of the world?), but if I remember correctly parlors aren't welcoming to gaijin so I'm betting against my guess...

Heh, the audio in the video was dubbed over by a fan.
*Thank you. I only watched a little bit here at work but it immediately seemed an odd choice, makes sense now.

I love how they removed that sommersault from the Halo jump. It's he one bit from the original scene I don't really like.

The rest is so perfectly accurate though that I imagine they managed to reuse the original mocap data.

There we go. Original voice acting cuts. Original soundtrack. I'd buy it at full price.

I believe the original voice actors recorded the tracks in a shitty apartment. The only reason it worked was because of the compression on the PS1. (Or something like that...)

That's why the had to redo all the OVA for Twin Snakes. The recordings were too low quality. Also characters like Mei Ling have no accent in the text and it was added to the dub. Mei Ling was born in America, not China. Apparently Twin Snakes is the more authentic of the two.

looks pretty good. i wouldn't be surprised if it was FOX Engine. makes sense as MGSV had a lot in common with MGS3 (to the point of 1:1 referencing it often), they could use all the foliage assets, helicopters, buildings material, etc.

im not really upset tho. who cares? slot games based on video game IPs have been around since the 80s. furthermore MGS3 has already had a HD remaster and been remade for the 3DS. the original game is still there, all the remakes and remasters are still there. the anti-Konami whining and entitlement is so pathetic. the equivalent of telling your mom you hate her when she doesn't buy you ice cream.

the equivalent of telling your mom you hate her when she doesn't buy you ice cream.

I don't think that's accurate.

Konami got rid of Kojima, then decided to make a gorgeous update to one of the best games in history, but it's relegated to being a pachinko game. Meanwhile, we're getting Metal Gear Survive instead of MGS3 Fox Engine Edition. Sounds like a complete waste to me.

Maybe with that we have a idea what PS5 looks like in a near future or maybe PS6 ? ...

The quality of these graphics are so incredible , i want a remake with this graphical fidelity...

It could look like this on the PS4 PRO right now!

But why MGS3? Is the 3rd one the most popular in Japan?

My thinking is that its aimed at old people, so something james bond-esque and set in the 60s might be slightly more appropriate? I know that sounds (and likely is) stupid, but if you think about MGS3 and MGS2 for example, I could imagine one being ever so slightly more appealing to older people.

I mean, it does seem a bit of a cruel taunt, but there's a gulf in cost between this and a remake, so I can just appreciate the newer visuals for the most part. The pachislots of old anime properties that won't get actual new series feel much more disappointing.

The Boss said:
Consider whether America and Russia will still be enemies in the 21st century. Somehow I doubt it.

I really don't understand why Konami bothered to use the Fox Engine to create these cinematics for a pachinko machine. Couldn't they have saved time and money by simply ripping the cutscenes from the original game? Does anyone playing these pachinkos actually care about the videos?

This reeks of an HD remake project that was already in development during Kojima's last days. Instead of completely cancelling it after his departure and booking a total loss, they salvaged the already complete cinematics from the assets and retrofitted it for a new pachislot game.

There's just no fucking way they dumped nearly an hour's worth of a CG quality remake of the original's cinematics on top of OST rearrangements for what could have simply been a slideshow of character models with music playing.
