Amazing upgrade, well done SE.

Thankfully they're using the highest quality cut-scene model through out the game.

I asked before (not that it's a pressing issue lol), but are the 3D models in the bestiary new as well or have they been in IZJS already?

Also to OP, I had these images ready if you wanted to include them in the OT:

Standard, Limited and Collector's Edition Images:

That's the old pic of the CE fyi, it looks like this now:

So did the IZJS version have new weapons and armor the original didn't?

There are new "ultimate weapons" that are added. In the NA version you would have the Aldebaran gun, but now you have that AND the Aldebaran Y that you can get through materials/the bazaar.

There are also a couple "hidden" ridiculous weapons that require some pretty insane RNG/luck to get. They are Trango Tower (1h-Sword), Seitengrate (Bow) and Gendarme (Shield).

This is correct.

A significant majority of the changes that Zodiac Age is advertising as "new" existed even in the PS2 IZJS release.

The truly new, new stuff in TZA is the upgraded graphics, remastered audio, and the dual job class thing. Everything else was already in the IZJS version.

I think machinist and archer can, but Vaan and Balthier came with the skill in IZJS. Don't know if that changed in the Zodiac Age.

I don't know about classes, but Vaan had it from the get go on his board, as well as an upgrade to Poach.

Oh nice, thanks! Just wanted to make sure Vaan gets steal, but it looks like I can make him anything I want.

I must be one of the very few here who actually likes controlling Vaan for the majority of the game.

Just curious but is the class system going to break my ability to play through it like I did before? For instance can I:

Run a team of all greatsword users?

LATE GAME BOSS SPOILERS

Run Tiamat on gambits alone?

Use the white mask (?) and twin healers to survive Omega mk XII?

My previous playthrough had basically everyone set up in a complex network of heals and buffs being applied by everyone at different percentages of damage and it sounds like people will have to specialise in IZJS?

Can someone just tell me which jobs to choose for each character for maxed stats and combat optimization?

Vaan - Shikari / Foebreaker
Penelo - Monk / Blackmage
Balthier - Whitemage / Machinist
Fran - Red Battlemage / Archer
Basch - Knight / Bushi
Ashe - Time Battlemage / Uhlan

Not only are these apparently the most optimized class configuration they are lore friendly if you care for that sort of thing.

11 hours, 34 minutes til unlock on my PS4, can't waaaaaait. Just finished the FFXV episode DLC in preparation and have been playing FFXIV a bit.

Great OT and title. :)

The long wait is almost over, my copy from Amazon should be here sometime tomorrow. I haven't been planning my team at all, so I guess I should go ahead and do that. I plan on using everyone.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
Is there anywhere I can still get the Steelbook online? Is it a preorder only thing, or could I show up to Best Buy tomorrow and find one?

I killed everything in IZJS (except for Yiazmat, which...I could have, just didn't want to spend the time) with my party, so yes, it's possible.

Jesus fucking christ is it hard to decide on everyone's jobs. Currently planning on going with the following:

Vaan - Hunter/Breaker
Basch - Hunter/Samurai
Balthier - Knight/Time mage
Ashe - Hunter/White mage
Penelo - Black mage/Monk
Fran - White mage/Machinist

So pretty much just the "god tier" combinations from the GF thread. Haven't thought of Espers at all, though, but I think I'll manage.

On my second playthrough, whenever that happens, I'll just go the randomizer route lmao. This is too much.

I really liked the combinations they used in that video they posted a while ago. It felt like the 'canon' jobs setup. But now I can't find the video, anyone know what I'm talking about. The set up was roughly...

Vaan - Hunter / ???
Penelo - White Mage / Monk
Ashe - Time Mage / Red Mage
Basch - Knight / Uhlan
Balthier - Machinist / ???
Fran - Archer / Black Mage

I like that list except for Ashe. It's been a long time since I played this but I remember Ashe being a very capable fighter. I never played the Zodiac version either so I probably need to relearn everything anyways.

I'm waiting near my door tomorrow and as soon as I see the delivery driver pull up Im gonna start playing Theme of the Empire as he walks up to the door.

These two Gfaq Threads were very useful to me when I was theory crafting by teams (first one is optimized, and second one is lore friendly):

The first thread is really nice, and covers how to take advantage of the best spells in the game (Holy with Black mage staff, Ardor & Burning Bow, Ninja Blade / Katanas with genji gloves)

Should I just sell all the loot items I get from monsters?

You may need to be a little careful because you could find some rare loot ingredients for the best weapons just by chance.
It's a pain in the ass to farm that shit without knowing if you already sold it and/or wasn't used to craft another weapon you didn't want to.
For example, one of the items for The Tournesol is Gemsteel(x3) and each one of those require like another 3 very rare items and each one of these require 2 or 3 rare items,do you see what i mean?
It's a good idea to keep a track of what loot you have or sold.
This is from my experience,i remember wasting hours and hours farming one of these gemsteels saying 'just one left!' and i totally forgot that i already sold one a long time ago.

Question: When in the game do you unlock the ability to select your second job? I'm assuming it's after a certain boss or dungeon not too far in, but I would like to be certain.

So for me it's lore reasons. She's a time Mage in either Revenant Wings or Tactics A2, i forget which. Maybe both.

I think this is what I'll be going with:

Vaan: Hunter/Breaker
Penelo: Monk/Black Mage
Balthier: Machinist/White Mage
Fran: Archer/Red Mage
Ashe: Knight/Time Mage
Basch: Samurai/Uhlan

Amazon.ca says it'll be here tomorrow, can't wait :D

I purchased mine from Amazon US and it says it will arrive on the 20th. Look forward to revisit FFXII again. I still have the vanilla PS2 version which I was playing 10 years ago this time.

OK I've settled on White Mage / Machinist for Balthier

one down...

maybe Black Mage / Monk for Ashe?

do peoples clothes change with their jobs? gotta make sure ashe is lookin right

This is my plan, going mostly based off my perception of the lore for this playthrough:

Vaan: Hunter/Foebreaker
Penelo: Monk/White Mage
Balthier: Machinist/Time Battlemage
Fran: Archer/Black Mage
Ashe: Either Knight or Uhlan/Red Battlemage
Basch: Either Knight or Uhlan/Bushi

Gonna probably agonize forever over the Ashe/Basch job casting choices.
