We are always interested in getting to know more people with the same hobby. If you share our love for Indies, let us know! We talk about anything Indie, want to talk about the block design in Braid? The character design in FEZ? Need recommendations? This is the right spot to ask! We'd also love to read more impressions :)

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
Automation - $29.99 (PC)
fwWwq0m.gif
http://www.automationgame.com/
In its current state, the game includes detailed tutorials, a sandbox mode, and a few dozen scenarios to work through. Yet to come is the business/"tycoon" mode, in which you'll run a factory and produce several vehicles over the years. It's still a bit buggy--the UI functionality in particular can get wonky at times--but if you have even a passing interest in cars or automotive engineering, this game is for you. And if you know nothing about how cars or engines work, the tutorials and puzzle-like scenarios here can teach you everything you'd ever want to know.
Deadbolt - Free alpha (PC)
tumblr_nk79636jNt1s1t3oyo1_540.gif
http://hopoo.itch.io/deadbolt
Deadbolt is a side-view action shooter made by the same developers of Risk of Rain. The best comparison that I have heard is a mix between Hotline Miami's twitch shooting and over-the-top gore along with Gunpoint's tactical traversing. You just run around and shoot thingsThe plan is that the more you play, the better arsenal of weapons you have. While you start with a fully loaded gun, the bullets are never enough to clear the whole building; therefore, you have to scavenge the weapons of other enemies, resulting in an almost puzzle-like gameplay of bouncing between different enemies to get ammo to kill the next.
http://www.seregsarn.net/heartofmorning/
Heart of Morning is a pretty straightforward retrieve-the-MacGuffin dungeon crawl, with one twist: You start as an endgame-level character, the victorious hero of a previous roguelike. The wrinkle is that the dungeon is very gear-hostile, featuring rust monsters and dire astrojags and the like; replacement equipment is highly uncommon, so you’ll struggle to lose as little gear as possible as you make your way through the dungeon, hoping to retain enough of it to fight and win the final battle at the bottom.
GtAGdM4.jpg
http://www.devolverdigital.com/games/view/hotline-miami-2-wrong-number
A brutal conclusion to the gruesome saga, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number follows the escalating level of violence through multiple factions born from the events of the original game and driven by uncertain motivations. Step into the murderous mind of several distinct characters - each with their own motivations and methods of execution – as storylines intersect and reality slips away into a haze of neon and carnage. Blistering combat, an unmistakable visual style, and a powerfully intense soundtrack will once again push you to the limit and questioning your own thirst for blood.
Got nice impressions from RPS
Of the innumerable walk-a-explore-o-awe games I’ve played, few have entranced me as much as Gardenarium. Hand-drawn flowers and trees grow, unfurl, sway, swirl, and dance as you explore cloud lands. They’re full of strange characters too, teachers, hitch hikers, and other hand-drawn lovelies with weird things to say.
Whatever the default is, which I think is 50. Pity it isn't possible to have a collapsible list, and have it collapsed by default.
I was going through a few of the games on the opening post and the multiplayer stealth game 'Chambara' caused my anti-V software to flare when I tried to download it. It is very likely nothing and just a false positive on my end, but I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't warn anyone about it. Game seems cool, although I need to rope a mate in to playing it cos it was just a one player run about for now.
I can't believe how good (and absolutely fucking terrifying) Monstrum looks. No idea how I hadn't been aware of that one before now. Anyone here played it?
Also, not sure how I've missed every previous IndieGAF thread until now, save the special ones around Steam sales. I've finally really begun to accept how burned out on the big AAA games I've gotten so am turning more and more to indies and retro for my digital stimulation. I really appreciate the effort put into this thread and will be checking in often. Hopefully I will have the time to participate in the discussion as well! Thanks, Toma!
The trailer looked awesome, right? I was hooked by the visuals and atmosphere, but then I read the game is pretty much going around and collecting stuff and running away from monsters you can't fight. Which kind of lessened my interest. Waiting for a sale before checking it out.
The dev is a GAFfer as well
Yeah, the trailer is great. Atmosphere and creature design is absolutely glorious. Oh man. But yeah, my excitement was dimmed a bit when I realized it was more Outlast than Silent Hill. I will still definitely check it out when I can! But yeah, $10 instead of $15 would expedite that. ;)
And awesome! I was hoping to hear that so I can harass them with questions haha. Who is it?
My iPad actually loads this thread faster than the IOS thread. Which is weird because this OP has way more images.
But yes, next page would be nice
Until the Screenshot Saturday post :p
At least that only has like 15 images, not 140.
Wrack is the new IGS deal. $1, Steam key only
Any impressions? The screenshots and gameplay always seemd kind of bland to me compared to other hectic arcade-y shooters like Fancy Skulls, Tower of Guns, and Paranautical
Anyone knows what's up with LIONESS? All I can find are creepy random (yet cool) stuff on moosh.tv and his senseless twits, he also released the I'm Null stuff, which was awesome, but really no new info on LIONESS
You all should play Pillars of Eternity
I cant believe just HOW good that game turned out. I mean I knew it would be good, but its basically a return to form in regard to the best Black Isle RPGs.
That is very, very, very high praise. This game made me raise another toast to Kickstarter.
Hey, no need to remind me. I've got a towering 9 foot tall death godlike monk making his way through the game, one face punch and roundhouse kick at a time. In retrospect, death was probably the worst choice of the godlike sub types for an endurance fighter class in that game, but oh well you are never gonna make your best character first time through.
Hotline Miami 2
It's more Hotline Miami. What more could you want? A twisting crazy Lynch-esque story. New characters and masks. More levels, from tight corridors to more open expansive areas. Inventive twists on the core gameplay. It's Hotline Miami, expanded and even more frenetic.
Parallax
A atmospheric monochromatic puzzler. The goal is simple - reach the exit - but doing so isn't so easy. By manipulating portals, you traverse parallel worlds, which usually have different layouts and where activating switches can affect elements across both worlds. It's seamless and just really cool passing between worlds. The game continually adds new elements, from booster pads and twisting gravity-defying platforms. The puzzles do rely more on trial and error which can get kind of annoying but the visuals and core mechanics are really fun
Deadbolt
2D shooter from the dev of Risk of Rain. It's reminiscent of Gunpoint and Hotline Miami, as your modern Grim Reaper blows aways supernatural gangs. The controls are tight. The gameplay is bloody, fast-paced, and just satisfying. And the game is already full of cool little details, like spraying gore and using cover. The current alpha is pretty light on content, but what's there is fun and addictive.
Voyd
A simple and stylish arcade hack n slash. Evade attacks, dash through enemies, pull off kill chains. Not much more than that, but still a fun little game. The flashy visuals are cool
I usually think before buying games that cost relatively high but for Pillars I didn't think twice.
I'm playing as a Orlan Paladin from the Kind Wayfarers
Been holding off starting pillars just so a few of the gamebreakers are patched out.
I think with the coming of the next patch mostly of the game breaking bugs are going to be addressed.
My impressions on Wrack, about 45 min playtime on it. It is beautiful. The art feels like I am running around in a living comic book. The gameplay itself is pretty much what you would expect. Shoot stuff, find keys, backtrack and open door to next area. The bosses are great, well designed both functionally and artistically. For the price I would say it is worth it. If you are sick of standard FPS fare, have a ton in inventory already you haven't gotten to, and want something more to hold your interest, then pass on it. Otherwise, don't miss this one.
I've played it a little - not a huge amount but quite liked what I've seen so far - I've read its a bit short but it's intended to be played a few times to get your money's worth.
Hoping to give it some more decent playtime this month.
Yo!
And cheers for the comments, even critical ones are appreciated :)!
I had fun playing Party Hard earlier this year, but I really sucked at the game and I have to say that the version I played felt very simple, but I think I barely touched the game and I'm sure it has more depth than that.
Got to test Spacejacked in Singapore last summer as well and I really enjoyed my time with it and it looks like it has improved a lot since then. Shame that there's no multiplayer or co-op, but I recommend trying out the Webdemo over on Gamejolt.
vouching for Unium, not a bad puzzle game at all, especially for that price, I haven't finished it yet, but from what I played, it's a zen game and promises some challenge later too, easy and medium levels are easy, though.
I quite enjoyed it too - nice simple controls that although it feels like it's more suited to a touchscreen it works just fine with the mouse.
