Splatoon 64 fan game enters Beta

Downloaded it and confirmed it works you might want to check it out it's a pretty neat little fan project. Not much to do in it and you really need two people to play though.

shift to change to squid

P2: Xbox 360 controller

EDIT: He uploaded an older version the one linked is now the correct version I ran and scanned the file with avast before updating.

Ran it using Sandboxie. No sounds or anything, seems pointless right now and more of proof of concept. I think it's made using Unity, has that icon for the .exe.

I downloaded it myself used it before posting I also scanned the file with avast.

While I don't think this is a virus, just for future knowledge, trojans can remain undetectable and even public trojans can easily be modified to be undetectable until they are submitted to anti-virus vendors for analysis. You should really use sandboxie or a virtual machine when running unknown executables.

Heuristic scans pick up viruses based on their behavior and don't need them to be previously classified in order to pick it up.

Google the term "FUD crypter", stands for fully undetectable. It's really easy to fool AV's by hex editing and script kiddies can easily purchase binders and crypters on public forums on the cheap to make trojans undetectable. A better method of detection is using a sandbox and a good software firewall to detect inbound/outbound connection attempts.

Besides, scanning with one AV isn't even a good method of determining this - I scanned with virustotal before taking my screenshots, which uses multiple vendor definitions and it came up clean. Again, this doesn't mean anything, but I don't think this release is malicious judging by the author's post history on IGN regarding the release.

I already updated the link in the OP just click it. He uploaded his original Alpha by accident I actually had a thread a while back for that alpha that got derailed so hard it was locked.

Version 2. As has been noted even though I personally trust the author you may want to run virus scans on the software yourself or run in a sandboxed mode.
