Final Fantasy 7 Remake: all parts will have the size of a full game

Although Square wouldn’t go into too many details—and they wouldn’t say how many episodes FFVII REMAKE will be—they did send over this statement:

It means instead of concluding in one entry, multiple entries are being considered in development. Each entry will have its own unique story. As a gaming experience, each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.

Thanks to our friend Jason from Kotaku

$180 plus tax to get the compete edition.

I would be happy if each disc was an episode since they all had a significant boss fight or event at the end of them.

I hope this isn't just PR.

Great news if true.

EDIT:

In retrospect, and seeing the fidelity they're aiming for, this is the ideal solution.

FF7 was a massive game in terms of content.

Just look at a single NPC in the gameplay trailer.

And like pointed out in another thread, "a full sized game" can mean anything from a concise 10 hour engagement to an epic 90 hour marathon.

What this does imply is that if they're aiming for "a full sized game" in terms of content, they're certainly going to chase the "full sized game" price tag.

Kinda what should have been expected, considering they did the same thing with FFX and FFXIII.

This is false. FFX and FF13 were fully realized and told games until they decided to extend the story. FF7 was a complete story.

We really underestimate in retrospect just how huuuuuuge the original FFVII was as a game.

Some of the towns and dungeons could be like entire games on their own if done in 3D and HD properly, Midgar especially.

As long as it's done well I have no problem with this. I'm thinking the Xenosaga analogy is looking more and more apt.

That wouldn't be ideal, since the three discs have greatly differing amounts of content. Disc 1 is at least 60% of the story.

This is pretty much what I was expecting the whole time, and I think it's probably the best way to go about it.

Happy to wait as long as it takes, just so long as it's the solid, detailed experience I'm hoping for.

Length of the pieces aren't really my concern. My concern is even with all the pieces the game won't actually be anything like FF7.

Well considering back in the day Disk 1 was probably 20-25 if you do the story straight up.

Disk 1 was the size of 3 crash games. lol

I'm thinking Disk 1 is going to be a content dense midgar, probably equivalent in size to that of Fallout 4. Extreme detail and graphics, enough content to warrant a single release.

This is going to be a huge ambitious project that will span a few years and when it comes all together it will be the best treatment for FF7R, Nomura did say he would be busy till 2019.

He is going full out World of Final Fantasy 7.

60$ each then.

Wonder if your items, lvls and other stuff will transfer from one game to another? Hopefully they will...

From the sounds of it, yes they'll be fully priced. They have my money regardless. And yes I expect progress to transition between each part from save files.

Interesting to note the world record of the entire game is under 8 hours.

Wait a minute ...

Verendus said this.

"Revisiting the FF7 world"

He knew it wasn't a single game, we kindof knew.

3 games at 60 each is probably as far as they could go until people got a bit annoyed with it.
They could maybe push a 4th game that reuses assets from all 3 for a new Zach game if they wanted.

The world-map is quite big... Towns are not. Even Midgar, which is ideally quite big, is not that huge in the game.

I expect it to be three parts with minimum to beat the story around 20 hours each. I'm excited. I'll pay 60 each if it is packed with that much content.

Sounds good there will be something to look forward too for a good while. I remember finishing the first disc on ps1 and excited and horrified that I had 2 more to go, it was really overwelming for me then.

FFVIIR-1, FFVIIR-2, and FFVIIR-3 incoming.

$180 total to have the entire FFVII story.

It's this generation's FFXIII.
