Is there a easy way to hear GAF posts when I am driving?

Picked up a new CRV last week. I am officially part of the CARGAF. However on the 45-minute daily commute I need my Off-Topic fix. Is there any easy solution I use on my phone? I would pay for a natural sounding voice.

pay me and i'll read any thread you want. i'll send it to you by email/dropbox/etc or start a podcast just for you.

I mean, just keep glancing at your phone while you drive, and soon enough you'll have tons of time to keep up with OT from your hospital bed. Unless you die.

He wasn't alone.
But what if their was a daily podcast that recapped Gaf News. Or a radio play which specific threads a re-enacted.

Just think of the possibilities.

It might even get picked up for a show on cbs or cw.

This seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Just listen to podcasts.

What's difference between listening to podcast and listening to forum posts? Nothing.

I have like 60 feeds on my podcast app, I honestly prefer forum topics over 80% of podcasts I subscribe to.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Because you will have to interact more with GAF than a podcast.

I feel like it would be pretty easy to make an extension/app that grabs each post text and run it through the build in android voice generator in real time. Someone just has to be interested enough to do it.

This sounds like a terrible idea. If you set the reader to skip quotes you'll lose any context about conversation flow, but if you have it read quotes you're going to hear posts again and again and again.

We live in a world of Internet and satellite radio, podcasts, FM/AM, but you want to hear NeoGaf posts read by a robot? Jesus. Why not just use your Sirius XM trial and listen to the king, Howard Stern. You'll hear way more educated opinions on the daily news and life that way.

Miss my O&A :(

I listen to 3-5 news podcast every day, I don't need anybody come tell me what I should listen to.

In fact I listened to "An Economic History of the World since 1400" on my way to work today. What did you listen to today?

This just sounds really dumb. First of all, focus on the road. Second of all, you will have an awful experience if you use any method to read you GAF posts, especially without quotes. Just listen to podcasts or music or audiobooks. Won't kill you to not be on GAF for an hour, but it sure will if you try to read while driving.

Why does this thread give me flashbacks of the dude using Best Buy PCs to go on GAF thread?

Best wishes.

If you listen to so many podcasts every day, why not, you know, continue doing that and save the Neogaf posts for later. It's only 90 minutes. Can't imagine it'd be fun to listen to. How would you tell the app to just read the posts, not all the rest of the text on these pages? What about quotes? Pictures? Gifs? Links to other sites for context? Hell, how would you tell it to turn to another page or another topic? You can't do any of that while driving.

This is a super weird idea to me.

Edit: To give a more helpful tip, I make my commute manageable by switching between more thoughtful stuff like Hardcore History and comedy like Harmontown or stand up. Or just music/news of course. Switch it up. Audiobooks could work as well I suppose but I don't like listening to books on tape, I prefer reading.

Never once have I had the desire to listen to a robot describe 500 people being bummed out about another Last Guardian delay.

Wow you're so smart, lemme guess you followed up with chapter 8 of Finnegans Wake on tape?

To humor you I listened to an episode of Stuff You Should Know on jellyfish in the morning. And then finished my commute back with Radio Lab.

This sounds like a terrible idea. If you set the reader to skip quotes you'll lose any context about conversation flow, but if you have it read quotes you're going to hear posts again and again and again.

pseudocode:

Code:
readposts+=1
LimitReads=3 //how many times to reread a quote before changing it to a summary.
string=string(get_element_hyperlink(post link))
pos=search_position_string(string,"?p=")
postIDs=copy_position_string(string,pos+3,9)
postID=int_from_string(postIDs)
postcounter=0
while (array[readposts,0]!=postID & postcounter<=readposts)
{
postcounter+=1
}
else
{
if (postcounter<=readposts)
{
array[readposts,1]+=1
}
}
if (array[readpost,1]>=LimitReads)
{
//Do some code here to say "Name quoted OtherName's [I]repeated quoted post[/I] and said: " instead of rereading the whole post for the 3rd time.
}

I'm not a competent coder by any means but assuming there's similar functions in whatever format/language this was done you could get it to be non-obtrusive with some work and skip rereads.
