Nintendo WFC Online Activity (W/E September 16th)

This week was interesting. Worms 2 is still new on the marked, and the new Sonic for Nintendo DS, Sonic Rush Adventures, was released in Europe, doing pretty well this first week. The best game to debut this week has to be Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, though. Combined they enter the Top 10 this week at spot number 6, and will almost certain climb their way up a few more spots this upcoming week, seeing as the game only released this past thursday.

What's more, this weekend had the two most active days ever, it seems. I haven't seen anything higher since I started tracking this, at least. Saturday saw almost 1100K connections and sunday almost had a million as well. Sadly, this was after one of the worst weeks in a long time, having days with only around 500k connections, going down to 516k at the lowest this week. It'll be interesting to see when the next day with over a million connections will happen.

The complete chart for week 37 of 2007 can be seen underneath.

Please note

- The number of connections listed in here is not unique connections, just the total number of connections for the service during the past week.

- These data are straight off of Nintendo's Wi-Fi site, through the freeware program WFCStatus.

- A Top 75 was released last week by me. To see it for, click here.

Wow at the Pokemon MD connection. With US & Europe release, they might even get higher than Mario Strikers Charged.

Congratulation to MSC to maintain their connection rate (no drop compared to last week).

Charged is holding steady I wonder how much of a bump it will get when the Japan version releases this week. BTW you rock for doing this.

Nicely done, Bo. Think we'll see an uptick in online activity inspired by the new Pokemon real-time website?

Impressive debut for PMD. Will be interesting to see if it holds steady or even sees an increase.

An increase is almost certain at the moment. The game hasn't been out for a week yet, and has only increased since its released monday. I'll get back to you later today with the number of connections for monday, which should be lower than those in the weekend, but really not that much lower.

Does Nintendo track online activity in games that don't feature multiplayer modes... like Metroid Prime 3's voucher trading?

I really think it depends on the game. Elebits is tracked, but Metroid Prime 3 is not.

Up until this date, I'd say that it wouldn't make a noticable bump at all, but I just did some searching, and it seems like Strikers for GameCube went up to almost 200k. If the Wii-version can do that as well, the number of connections should increase :D The japanese really love their online games.

No, I don't think it'll have any effect at all. Awesome tracking site, though!

too bad i can't play jump ultimate stars online

it lags like hell

I know :( I'm surprised it's still in the Top 10. It seems like only people outside of America experience lag, but I experience lag even though I play another person from Denmark, which seems kinda odd. When it finally works, it's an awesome online game, though :D

Could you specify a bit?

You can't understand the menus/missions?
You don't know how to fight?
You don't know how to make a deck?

With Brawl confirmed with online matches, will it beat Pokémon on top of the chart? At least 2nd place seem pretty certain, IMO.

It'd be nice to have a battle for top spot here, it's like sales charts all over again.

I think brawl will absolutely destroy pokemon. Its sales are going to go through the room. I also think people will play more online matches on a console (espcially in the US).

This oughta be interesting next week... Connections for monday:

Animal Crossing: Wild World - 42,400 connections
Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon Toki/Yami - 21,190 + 20,867 = 42,057 connections

Thank god Strikers didn't fell again like almost every week. Hopefully it can stay at that pace, which isn't bad at all. :)

Also, I think Brawl has a big chance to be the single biggest online console game to date. Could only possibly beaten by a true Pokemon console MMO.

I don't understand the menus/missions or how to make a deck.

the servers will crash.

Yeah, it seems that Nintendo is never prepared for big online multiplayer game releases. I think the servers crashed when D/P was released, and I remember it happening when they launched NWC too.

I don't understand the menus/missions or how to make a deck.

well when you start there are 8 menu circles

go to the first bottom circle and there you will make a deck

input any name

in the deck-making section, you will have alot of cards (or will have) and you have to have one or more cards (komas) of 1 slot, one or more of 2-3 slots, and one or more with 4 or more slots in a deck.

the 1 koma slot card will help you by giving you skills

the 2-3 koma slot card is a helper and can help you by attacking others during battles

4+ koma slot card is the character you will use to fight

now though, you have to choose a leader (4+ koma slot card only) while making the deck by pressing either R or L and put it in a character

that's basically the basics of making a deck and using it on battle

missions

use this guide to help you with the missions, it helped me

and the little icon legend if you don't know the name of the anime (like me because i don't watch anime)

Seeing the share of connections so far this week, the Top 3 next week will be.

1. [NDS] Pokémon Diamond & Pearl
2. [NDS] Animal Crossing: Wild World
3. [NDS] Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon Toki/Yami no Tankentai

It's gonna be close, though.

Elemental Monster and Strikers was released in Japan yesterday. Elemental Monster did 419 connections, and Mario Strikers got a small, but noticable boost. Perhaps the release in Japan can move it a few spots up the chart.
