Alan Wake not on PC?

people want a lot of things.
But its not like wanting on PS3. It was announced for PCs too and was touted as a Vista and DX10 showcase. First gameplay shown was on PCs when the Quad-core demonstration was given.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft never makes software for the PC. They have a business incentive to drive people away from the Windows operating system and DirectX, both of which Microsoft hates and hopes to destroy and...

wouldn't surprise me if microsoft game studios are publishing it. they've made their intentions perfectly clear.

it's not good business to have a far superior version on an open platform for a lower price.

Microsoft was still the publisher years ago when they demoed the engine taking advantage of quad-core CPUs on PC.

Microsoft wasn't doing dumb shit like closing Ensemble years ago either. Things are much different now.

How can this not be released on PC? Hell, they've even demoed it on the PC before.

They will keep it away from the PC as long as possible and hope it sells 360s. Yeah MS still totally cares about PC gaming.

Lately MS has been really quite about PCs WRT gaming. They did announce DX11 etc but it matters shit if there are no games. They haven't announced lot of 360 games which they could cause they have publishing rights e.g. Halo 3, Fables 2, Gears 2 etc

why would they? they are going for a power coup, not profits.

In this thread people whine about unconfirmed news of console manufactuer securing an exclusive for their console.

Are they literally assuming that not talking about it means it's up in the air? If not, what is the source of that information?

I don't think anyone should really start speculating until we actually have something to go on.

Baby steps. The way this game has been going, I'd say the PC version isn't the only one up in the air.

ppl are already dreaming at the official forums:lol
Microsoft would actually be smart if they kept Alan Wake as a 360 exclusive. Imagine if Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction only became available on 360. It would bring a lot of pc gamers over to the Xbox, and MS isn't known for treating their pc gamers well.

Alan Wake is trademarked by Remedy, not Microsoft; I'm sure if Remedy really wants to do a PC version eventually they will. On the other hand it's not going to be in Microsoft's best interest to see the PC version shipping day-and-date with the 360 version.

Unlike Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction, this is published by Microsoft.

Why aren't all of you up in arms for Sony to bring their first party to the PC? Seriously.
How about Uncharted, Killzone, Warhawk, MAG? Wouldn't you all love those on the PC?
Or is it just that you guys need to bitch about every Microsoft game to come to the PC so that later on you can talk about how the 360 has no good exclusives?

And this game will obviously be released on the PC, although at a later date.

MS is really stupid if they think the 360 audience is going to a title of this nature a ton of support while abandoning a base that on the pc is usually there for remedy. Stoney that's nice and all but MS can't keep rumors down at all most of the time on things. Vast people aren't pissed at sony let alone PC stuff because they never indicate they are making version and do complete 180 on the original position they took. Basically since xbox and Halo ms has baited pc gamers time after time about platform for support. In this case it's warranted considering the title was shown to be a pc title upon revealing it in video the first few times.

Microsoft killed/is killing PC gaming!!!!!!

is what certain segments of gaf likes to harp on.

Wasn't it at E3 that it was made known that the priority to the X360 version was shifted way in front of any possible PC release? The game is going to need such a level of minimum spec on the PC, anyway, that it will likely sell like shit compared to a console release. (Remember, most people still have single-core computer configs and most of those that have multi-core setups have relatively low-end integrated graphics.)

It may very well not be coming to the PC (although I'm skeptical) but at this stage and with the amount of information we have its too early to go into rage mode for PC only gamers.

It'd be awesome to play Uncharted at 60fps on my PC. After getting back on the PC gaming train 30fps feels real shit.

Anyway the difference here is that Alan Wake was always considered a PC/360 game...until now anyway. Who gives a shit if the 360 loses a exclusive? The only people that lose here are the gamers. I guess congratulations on being stuck on a gimped framerate and at a semi-HD resolution.

Funny enough, Sony is supporting the PC better than Microsoft by having those two mmo games on both PC and PS3.

Best support Microsoft gives PC is having exclusive (well, not anymore) DLC for Fallout 3 meaning exclusive (um, yeah) to PC and 360.

a: ps3 architecture makes it more than a days work
b: see kabouter

the only people that don't want to see pc ports are zealots and communists.

MS can't be killing PC gaming that would require them to release a good amount of titles first that bomb. PC gaming isn't dying, though piracy is a problem but that is because devs refuse to agree on a centralized platform like steam and to use a security system that would dramatically lesson piracy without need for malware protection systems.

How did we get from Microsoft and Remedy only talking about the 360 version to there is no PC version?

Calling bullshit on OP's source.

I'm pretty sure we got from Take 2 and Remedy only talking about a PC version to now.
