Here's to hoping Shepard's and squadmate's PS2-quality armor textures are much improved -- and going by Liara in LotSB, they will be.

If they allow you to switch shoulder views than it makes sense for the bar to be duplicated on the other side.

It's where the weapons attach via magnets or whatever, they were present in ME2, only colored blue. Perhaps we can change the color of them now?

Indeed they did. Notice that there are no weapons on Shepard's back giving a clear view. I think they did go with a Dead Space approach. Maybe no HUD when not in cover and a HUD when you are?
