No THQ booth at E3 2012

"We're not producing a booth, but we will be participating in E3. We will be showing games to the E3 judges at their event coming up, and we'll be hosting a press and business center at the show for meetings (as well as participating with first party activities)," THQ told us.

Things THQ studios are developing, or the publisher is distributing:
- Metro: Last Light
- Darksiders II
- inSANE
- Devil's Third
- South Park: The Game
- Homefront 2
- Company of Heroes 2
- WWE '13
- 'Unannounced titles'

This means they'll either show stuff behind closed doors in private conferences, or they intend to show stuff at conferences hosted by others (see: Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo). THQ is doing some E3 stuff though. They have pre-E3 press events organised this month.

Sad news. They've consistently had one of the nicest booths at E3 for a few years running now.

I could see Nintendo giving them some time during their conference. They've been very vocal about their support for the Wii U.

Understandable. An E3 booth is not quite cheap after all. It's money they are better off saving.

Plus it is known that Crytek UK (ex-Free Radical) have Wii U devkits. We might see Homefront 2 pop up at Nintendo's event.

Darksiders 2 demo at one of the conferences would be great. And an unveiling for Patrice Desilets's new game, and Turtle Rock's new game at one of the conferences.

Fat chance

I dunno. Revealing a Cytek Call of Duty clone along with a new system seems about the right kind of stupid I'd expect from Nintendo partnerships :p.

DS2, HF2 and some other bits should be enough to make Nintendo give them 15 minutes of their conference, it can slot between the video package of family's smiling while pretending to play the Wii U and the half hour of graphs showing just how well Nintendo are doing.

I don't think Nintendo will give them a quarter of the conference. :p Either five minutes or part of a round table.

In the link a THQ spokesperson said that the booth decision was made months ago when they were in a very different spot from where they are now.
Hmm. Odd.

THQ seemed to be one of the biggest supporters of booth babes and porn starlets judging by the yearly trade show footage. I feel bad for them - the game footage will come out anyway.

It's a pity for big titles like Darksiders 2 I must say.
Hopefully the press demonstrations are of a high standard.

Nintendo should show DS2 at their conference if there's a visual gap between the Wii U and PS3/360 versions of it. Most rumors are pointing toward next year for the PS4 and Xbox 3, so Nintendo could pull in some of the core gamers by having new hardware and the superior versions of multiplatform titles.

Well, last time I was at E3 it was a monstrosity the size (and look) of a disneyworld attraction. Hardly necessary for a company that was already in trouble at the time. There's got to be a middle way betwneen this stuff and a no show.

Hopefully they'll show Metro Last Light on WiiU at least. I'm dying to see how they're going to use the Pad aside from the obvious stuff like the clipboard and the wristwatch.

The director already said that the Wii U version will not have better graphics.

Yeah, that's why I enjoyed it. They built awesome booths that had highly themed areas for each of their games, and I like the spectacle of E3.

No doubt they aren't a company who should be dropping money on something like that right now though.

Not actually that important

Director of DS2 said they're not going to improve the game graphics for the Wii U version versus other consoles'.

Don't they usually have a big presence with the WWE games at E3, or is that all promotional jargon?

Well, that's certainly disappointing. Not even a framerate boost? If the Wii U is packing more power than the current systems, then it would be disappointing if developers ignored that and went with straight ports.

I'd say most developers just can't be bothered.
"You'll get ports and you'll like it."

I think some other publishers are not going not have any booth at E3. Like SEGA - they have less AAA games than THQ.

Sure hope Darksiders 2 and South Park don't get canceled. Darksiders 2 has already been delayed once, and with the company slowly but surely failing, who is to say what will release and what won't.

Well, E3 is completely digital experience for their audience, so I can see why they wouldn't want to waste millions on a booth and valuable time preparing demos.

It better come out. The first one was such a great game. Hopefully someone else would step in and help them get it finished if need be.

I want to see Devil's Third. Or at least a demo to play it myself. :/

Saving money on marketing, here's hoping it doesn't backfire for them and their games get ignored completely.

Marketing on E3 with all the noise surrounding the event from all the other companies announcements is a waste. It's fun for us to follow all the turmoil here live but it's a complete waste.
