Should have known this wasn't a proper Origins sequel. Damn.

Misleading too, if this really is the case. This is probably all down to levels being built with multiplayer in mind, and the requirement of another player to help Rayman through a level via the gamepad screen.

Eh, I don't see why this has to be an issue. Another Canvas Curse-esque paradigm shift would be nice, to be honest, and after Origins I trust Ancel and co. to deliver.

Seems like a rent, whenever there might be an opportunity for multiplayer. meh, hoping for singleplayer Rayman in the future. (Preferably 3d)

As long as most of the levels are normal Rayman, it's ok I guess. Maybe they'll revolutionize escort gameplay!

I'm fine with that for some levels, but hopefully "a good portion" doesn't mean like 90% of the game. I would much rather have plenty more origins-style gameplay.

Can you not simultaneously control murphy and rayman on the gamepad? obviously that will be too difficult for the fast song sections, but it seems doable for the other parts

Well, he initially says that controlling Murfy is half of the single player campaign. But he then says that it's not half, but it is a good portion of it.

In the video he first says that we will have to play half of the game with Murphy, then he says maybe not half but a good portion. So I'm guessing around 30% of the game is made of levels like the Castle Rock stage where you play as Murphy and protect Rayman. I thought it sounded really disappointing at first but I'm sure it won't be so bad.

It was pretty clear to me that this was going to be impossible or either useless in singleplayer, so I'm not too shocked. I already gave up hope after more detailed E3 videos. You'd have to make a completely new game.

This would explain the Wii U controller content -> tablet comment.

You could port all the Murfy levels to a touch device and have it work quite well since you don't need to control Rayman.

I read somewhere that Murphy will be needed in some levels, but the the majority of the game can be played solo as Rayman or whoever you pick. You'll only play as him in levels that have lots of puzzles. I'll try to find the link.

I couldn't figure out why nobody seemed to have asked about how you can play the game in single player. They only ever showed coop and it looked required every single time.
