Homerpalooza had Sonic Youth in it, so it's automatically a favourite of mine.

Welcome to Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge. I am Carvallo.
Now, choose a club.
You have chosen - a 3 wood. May I suggest a putter?

Now push - 7 - 8 - 7 - to swing.
Ball is in ... parking lot. Would you like to play again?

I posted this in the other thread, but it fits in more so here.

I have been slacking off on watching The Simpsons this season, I'm about ten episodes behind or so now, but I just started catching up. Am I crazy, or is the quality this season a bit improved from the past number of seasons? It's certainly not what it once was, but it seems more focused in on plot and truer to what the show used to be than it has lately. I just got to the episode from December about Homer's dog and I thought that was one of the best episodes of the last decade. It actually had a great deal of heart, unlike most any Simpsons episodes lately. I even really enjoyed the one right after it, the one about the preppers and all of that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the show is at all how it used to be - just, better than it has been in a long, long time in my opinion. It actually shocked me a great deal.

Even Homerpalooza? All those episodes were good compared to most TV shows and the modern Simpsons though.

I love Homerpalooza. So so much.

Lisa: Wearing a Jamaican hat makes a bold statement about your connection to reggae music.
Homer: Well, excuuuuuse me!
(sticks a sticker on his hat that says "Too cool for this planet")

Then we have ones like "Three eyes on every fish", where I think it still has one of the best Marge moments in the entire show. "Lisa, always believe in your mother". Yeah, I forgot the exact quote, but it works.

Agreed. So very, very much agreed.

One of my absolutely favorite things about the Simpsons is how totally in love with it my (not-super-crazy) Republican dad and his (completely crazy) Republican brother are. They constantly talk about how one of the best things about the Simpsons is that it isn't biased, as they take the piss out of both democrats and republicans. I can kind of see how they could convince themselves of that, but it only makes things more funny for me.

I wouldn't say the overall quality is better per se... although I will say that outside of the two Tim Long-Zooey Deschanel-Mary Spuckler episodes this season has been more consistent in quality than any since at least Season 20.

You're also coming off two of the better episodes from this season in To Cur with Love and the "love it or hate it - I loved it" Homer Goes to Prep School. I would argue that Season 23's highs were higher and its lows were lower. And Season 22 was just awful.

There's been less wackiness but a whole lot of humdrum and forgettable been there, done that this year. Far too many storylines built around Abe's past (at least 3, there may be others I've forgotten). I suspect the next few episodes will be subpar to terrible. Finale night is going to be interesting as they've wedged the two episodes most likely to impress or be infamous for then.

I like Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins, but episodes where celebrities play themselves just rub me the wrong way. That episode had lot of good lines though.

I think the only band-playing-themselves episode I truly liked was Flaming Moe's, and I don't even like the Chili Peppers.

I thought Tom Jones was hilarious in Marge Gets a Job. Granted, that's more of a musical artist as opposed to a band.

Wiggum: Put out an APB on a Uosdwis R. Dewoh. Uh, better start with Greektown.
Friday: That's "Homer J. Simpson", Chief. You're reading it upside down.

Wiggum: Uh, cancel that APB. But, uh, bring back some of them, uh, giros.
Friday: Uh, Chief? You're talking into your wallet.

"Kirk, crackers are a family food - happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without."

"So that's it, after twenty years, 'So long, good luck?'"

"I don't recall saying, 'Good luck.'"

The wars of the future will not be fought on the battlefield or at sea. They will be fought in space, or possibly on top of a very tall mountain. In either case, most of the actual fighting will be done by small robots. And as you go forth today remember always your duty is clear: To build and maintain those robots.

Kent Brockman: Springfield has come down with a fever. Football fever, brought on by the biggest game of the year: the Pigskin Classic between the Shelbyville Sharks and our own Springfield Atoms. If you have the fever, there's only one cure; take two tickets and see the game Sunday morning.
Man: Warning: tickets should not be taken internally.
Homer: See? Because of me, now they have a warning.

Does anyone know why Homer kinda stutters onto this scene, right before he meets the SP? I'll try find a clip, but he kinda hops forwards on his heels. Reference? Or just a quirk?
Isn't it because of the extremely loud, reverberant guitar chord, precedingly? I am just trying to remember the scene off the top of my head here...

EDIT : beaten (as in I've beaten Kurita)

IIRC it's because a band starts playing very loud so I assume the shockwave or whatever is the reason.

EDIT : beaten

Mr. Bergstrom replaces Ms. Hoover teaching the class. Lisa's Substitute is one of their most literal titles, which ironically does make it harder to remember.
Although don't discount the title's double meaning: that Mr Bergstrom is a substitute for Lisa's father (which is the whole point of the episode I suppose), not just teacher.

Mind blown. Had no idea it could be interpreted that way as well.

Does anyone have a gif of that itchy and scratchy episode where they're pulling bigger and bigger guns out at each other then scratchy gets shot into the sun?
