Kinect' facial recognition in Kinect Sports Rivals

In case some of us were worried about new Kinect' facial recognition, this video is showing how it works, and the result seems to be quite accurate:

And with the real one/digital one at the end:

I think you can edit your hair afterwards, change the cut or the color... The scanning is mostly focused on face features.

There looks to be a lot of input lag here, I really hope that isn't the case at release. I will be seriously disappointed.

It's these kinda features were seeing being dripped out that make the XB1 seem true next gen to me, if it works people are gonna be asking why other systems don't have them

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Very interested to see a lot more examples of this to see how far the stuff varies.

If it works and gets some damn good results, great tech.

Would be interested in seeing it not in a cartoony game though to see how far it can really be taken.

Having your body and face scanned in is gameplay now? If dude knew what "turn your head" meant it'd be quicker. Though what are we comparing this scan against?

How can someone not know what "Turn your head" means? :)

This looks excellent tech though. Rather slow but impressive nonetheless.

That's awesome. Can't wait to see what people do with it on Pc.

A million times this. 2 original Kinect setups already work pretty well for basic motion capture with something like ipisoft (and you can use Moves for props, which is pretty cool). With a Kinect 2 setup results should be much, much better maybe even getting finger detection.

I have no interest in its gaming applications, since time and time again they've prove to be shit, but for motion capture it could be a game changer.
