I imagined Gundam Musou 4 could be a PS4 launch title like it was for the PS3.

Release the PS4 in Holiday 2014 in Japan and nobody will even notice.

Edit: damn, it's been awhile I had checked the Famitsu index. The PSP list is so small now and the PS3 one is huge.

"New" Gundam Musou probably means that this game may go in a decidedly different direction than its predecessors.

How much, we'll have to wait to see. Wouldn't be surprised if this goes more in the Gunpla direction like Gundam Breaker than anything else.

Considering the DW: Gundam games actually get localized I would be ok with this news. Actual Gundam games never make it out of Japan, if im not mistaken the last one was Crossfire at launch of the PS3.

I don't know, I thought there could have been a Musou for PS4 launch, but now there doesn't seem to be anything left; everything's for PS3 (and Vita) right now.

Thanks for posting the scans. VitaminX Evolution Plus and VitaminZ Revolution are both available on PSP, so they aren't exactly new titles.

Chances are that the next mainline DW is lined up for the PS4. So they wouldn't want these to overlap.

I wonder if Shin Gundam Musou will be more like the Hokuto no Ken and One Piece games and less like the standard musou titles.

Also, if this game makes it over to North America, you can be damn sure that it will be digital only. I'll put in my preorder as soon Ami Ami puts it up. Bet it's the big December title for Bandai Namco.

This piqued my interest because AFAIK, the last time this happened was when Sangoku Musou (Dynasty Warriors) was followed by Shin Sangoku Musou (DW2) which established the 3D brawler formula they've been refining/abusing for 2 gens now.

That also fucked the numbering in the West but whatever.

I wonder if Shin Gundam Musou will be the last Gundam game for the PS3, or if we'll see another one next year. Along with Full Boost, I'm really hoping they do another Unicorn game to wrap the second half of the story. The first one was a great game that went largely ignored.

Actually, there's a more recent example!

Our "Warriors Orochi 3", is actually "Musou Orochi 2", because our "WO2" was actually just dubbed an expansion "Maoh Sairin" over there. Clearly, they think that we value our numeral increments on our side than in Japan.

With the way that Bamco seems committed to the PS3 for the long haul right now? I wouldn't worry about it. Especially for franchises that cater mainly (or only) to Japanese crowds.
