Dave Chappelle is lashing out about the people who heckled him in Hartford, CT last week ... calling the crowd a bunch of "young, white alcoholics" and saying he wanted to pull a "reverse Kramer."

Chappelle took the stage at a show in Chicago last night ... and immediately went off on Hartford -- where he engaged in a nasty stand-off with the crowd after several loudmouthed fans heckled him during his set.

"I don't want anything bad to happen to the United States," Chappelle said ... "but if North Korea ever drops a nuclear bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut."

He sounds pissed.

Chappelle's Laugh Factory bit on Michael Richards and hecklers was actually the first thing that came to mind when I read the title.

That has been my experience seeing live comedy. Hell I'm one of them.

Only rich young white folks have the time, money and inclination to go to a popular show.

LOL Daves still got it.

I can see his Dave's relationship with his fanbase works like this, some of them are dumb white guys that actually think all of the characters and situations described are played straight and are actually a mock towards black people. He always has to wonder if fans are laughing with him or at him.

He's venting about it in his set, in a funny way. I don't see a problem here. Those people were assholes. Having a thick skin is a good thing but people need to stop standing up for hecklers.

I'm sure there were some total assholes in the crowd in Hartford the other night, but man he really needs to start acting like he's been in the industry for more than a month.

When can we all stop feeling sorry for Dave Chappelle?

damn, being from new haven, i can feel the heat of this burn, it's too funny / accurate for me to be heated....

what's funny is hartford has a lot of minorities, lots of crime, not the image of a drunk frat house type place, i wouldnt be surprised if the crowd was equal parts uconn huskies, "massholes", and hartford bro culture, also im proud to say i had friends there that had no part in this whatsoever...

no offense taken chappelle.

Or allow some people from the audience to volunteer to escort them into the alley and wail on them a little bit for a few minutes. Because fuck you if you're gonna waste MY money.

Everyone's being so dismissive of this post, but it's true.

no it isn't. if that's the case then young white alcoholics is basically the prime demographic of 'white people 18-35'. Is that what you think he's saying?

This is probably why Dave couldn't completely shit on an audience like people posting the Bill Burr clip in the last thread wanted. He makes a couple harsh jokes about his last show and now people treat it like he's "lashing out" or "melting down" about his shit audience. Any other comedian and it's a non-story.

Agreed. If Chapelle lashes out like Burr did, they would label him offensive, disrespectful, crazy etc.. It's a damn shame a lot of people don't realize this too.

I listened to the youtube clip and thought it was pretty funny. It was a part of his bit, even the reverse kramer part, where he had two different opinions as a black man and a comedian. I don't really see an issue with it to be honest.

If I recall correctly, that's pretty much the issue that led him to stopping S3- he got very uncomfortable with people finding it funny who didn't get the joke.

Hecklers are some of the lowest scum on earth.

They did that shit here in knoxville and he gave us all the middle finger at the end of the show. I appreciate him finishing the show and don't blame him for flipping us off.
