Well they are 1080p, they're just 1080p screenshots of the game as seen through a smeary filter of color errors.

Comment I was parodying disappeared into the ether. At first, I didn't see much of a difference between Brawl and SSB4's artstyle, but it's obvious that the new game's so much more beautiful. I especially love the facial animations.

I'm sure Sakurai will deliver a great final product, zoomed in screenshots just aren't that flattering for a game like this (at 1080p/60fps).

That just makes them badly compressed 1080p screenshots. Facebook compression on the 'original' size isn't that severe.
