Game Informer: Call of Duty: Blacksmith (Sledgehammer, Trailer May 4, first screen)

Game will probably focus on Private Military Companies. The new teaser website has VERY heavy hints in that direction.

I'll let you look for em, don't wanna spoil :D

Looks tight but I have no idea what this is about. I see an exoskeleton on one guy and a Dead Space style suit on the other.

Also, I think we've finally topped Final Fantasy Spirits Within visuals, in game.

I wonder if that suit of armor only matters in the singleplayer that some people only play once before jumping to the multiplayer?

Graphically impressive! Those helmets probably have something to do with some new gameplay element.

It's "next-gen first" according to Activision's last fiscal call, which implies 360/PS3 versions exist but are considered a secondary priority.

Sounds like a PR pleasing statement more than anything. Last-gen versions will hold the game back. Damn.

I remember another very pretty shooter that still suffered immensely in gameplay and narrative
Killzone Shadowfall
.

Loving Titanfall, so I can see myself returning to Call of Duty if things fall into place. Will wait to see more, but likely it will be another pass.

Ah OK, thanks. A stepping stone I guess. It could still have a lot of trappings of a - ahem - current-gen only game if they are willing to do a lot exclusively for the new systems, but that could result in a lot of separate work. We'll see I guess.

At least it looks like they are going in a different direction with it, which is needed. That said, I am not interested yet.

It's the same suit on both, an exo skeleton.

It's actually called Blacksmith??

Anyways, it does look good. I think I'm going to pass on both CoD and Battlefield this year but I wouldn't he surprised if I ended picking up this game.

Promising, I really wonder what they are going to do for a lead platform on this one. Do they go with the graphical power of the PS4, or the social power of the XB1, being "next-gen first" this year will be the true test. I don't think Ghosts was "horrible" on either platform, so we'll see.

I know Call of Duty always has Hollywood stars in them so I'm genuinely curious to see if that's really modeled after Idris.

That was the first thing that came to my mind as well.

I loathe the mentality that African American video game characters always resemble someone famous (ex: black males with dreadlocks = early Busta Rhymes, etc.), but when I saw this picture, I thought Activision was announcing that Idris Elba was headlining, and did the motion capture on, the next CoD. LOL!

Looks like Glen and his crew showed the game at a press event:
