The Order: 1886 Delayed Into 2015. [Stop talking about MS lineup]

Do you work In the game industry and have shipped a title ?

To make such a claim, I can assume you are in the game industry and have shipped a title? A lot of armchair analysts trying to explain something they have only a minimal understanding about.

Oh hey, look. It's the "YOU DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE HERE SO YOU SHOULDN'T TALK" line of defense.

A little ironic too, considering how much time a lot of us spend here on GAF critiquing various developments in the industry.

I guess we should stop talking about just about everything, since very little of us actually have anything to do with Game Development.

Yes, he hinted at a delay about 6 hours after someone else said that the game was delayed.

2 Days ago look below. He was confirming what was said.

Also around the first leak may 22

Hope am safe and this isn't off topic :p

OT - Not a massive delay but definitely doesn't do Sony any favours anyways as we have seen from Driveclub's delay ( Was longer albeit) it should help smoothing out some things. Game is looking awesome atm hope we see some werewolf combat at E3.

it's a better plan than "increasing the man power"

I just think they potentially nets you the same outcome, one just does so in less time.
Moot point right now anyway, so now I only have one game left to look forward to for the rest of this year.
Unless something amazing happens at E3 that is.

Goddamn are we even talking about the Order anymore?

Just go to the previews thread and let this one be the generic "Delays everywhere, well these games look boring / not AAA / not to my taste" garbage magnet that hopefully won't affect the proper one. It's a delay announcement thread, after all.

Sony will release a Crash HD trilogy collection this fall to prepare us for the new Crash developed by Naughty Dog next year.

Barren fall lineup solved.

I posted a few months ago about how I thought delays were becoming the rule rather than the exception and I was met with some resistance. I wonder if those people would agree with me now. This shit's getting ridiculous. I understand that delays happen and how they can benefit a game that needs work, but now that scenario is playing out for every damn game.

This sort of thing happen early in the generation. I think it's gotten much better since the days of the PS1 where delays were extremely common. I remember getting hyped by a ton of projects that ended up as vaporware.

Well, because it's EASY for anyone to say "hey I can do that job BETTER than you... even though I have no experience in it ...." You can't make those claim and don't expect anyone to respond that way. It's not the same.

Getting all of them day 1, but I was talking about new AAA exclusives. I bought the console to play all sorts of games, it's doing good in the indie and 3rd party departments, but it's missing Sony AAA titles.

I hope you realize that as AAA development costs have gone up once again you're going to be seeing a lot less of them in general as stated by many of the larger publishers. In the case of this particular game - a new, unproven IP - it's best to delay to ensure better quality than rush just so it can release half-baked in a sea of heavy third party hitters. You or others in this thread panicking may not like it but the game being pushed to February isn't the end of the world here. If anything a February release will allow the game to receive the attention it deserves during a period of typical drought.

Great news. Hopefully it's going to take all the way into the fall so they can make the gameplay look a bit less like you're going through the motions. I do not want this game turning into another Dark Void.

Wow. Chill. E3 is in two weeks.

Dude, I would be VERY surprised (hell downright shocked) if after E3 the situation for this year is substantially better.

E3 as of late isn't like the way it used to be. Titles are seldom announced and released in the same year.

I suppose there is a minute hope that Uncharted could come out this year, but the odds seem astronomical at this point.

Honestly yeah, I think this is happening.

*hold me*

If that happened, all would be forgiven. Does anyone ACTUALLY see this happening though? I'm talking in reality, not some vicarious fantasy.

It sucks the game is delayed, but the writing was on the wall for a few months now.

Ready at Dawn is a smaller studio who is making their first AAA title. They have yet to ship a single game that is built from the ground up in HD or with a multiplayer component. Give them time, let them learn, and hope for the best.

That said, if the game needs more time to be just right, I say go for it. This Fall is crowded as is it is. Also this concern trolling in every thread about every game needs to go. PS4's are going to blow up if the game doesn't hit this Fall.

I'd rather see this delayed and given proper prep time than thrown into a release-calendar "hole" to make message-board platform justifications easier. E3 is very soon. New titles will be announced, very likely some for the holiday season of 2014. Third party titles are still coming in. Smaller, downloadable projects have been released right along, and will continue to do so.

You knew what games will be out before you bought it. First, compare what AAA exclusives will be out for ALL the consoles then wait till e3 which is 2 weeks away... then come back and make that statement, if there are 0 Sony AAA titles :)

2015 is looking more and more like the year to jump on the next gen bandwagon. Is anything besides Sunset Overdrive coming out for ps4/Xbone in 2014 that makes a console purchase worth it? Think I'm just gonna dwell on my ps3 and PC until ground zeroes comes out

this is pathetic.. The game doesn't even have multiplayer.. I hope THAT is why it's delayed.

What an ignorant post. Because a game has a narrower focus doesn't mean it requires any less ingenuity and creativity. And they certainly aren't going to add an entire new game mode in a few months time.

Fine by me, there will be a ton of 3rd party games coming out for the PS4 this year that I'm interested in anyway.

Take your time, RAD.

How about competently developing a title and getting out polished and refined on time?

Believe it or not, this can be done.

I'm going to re-quote Nightengale:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=113613217&postcount=1046

TLoU was delayed. The Order was delayed. Driveclub was delayed.

Ryse was delayed. Crimson Dragon was delayed. Kinect Sports Rivals was delayed.

Pikmin 3 was delayed. Donkey Kong was delayed.

Destiny was delayed. Witcher 3 was delayed. Watch_Dogs was delayed.

BF4 wasn't delayed.

On time, like these? :)

This is mildly disappointing news but there is no shortage of games this Fall, games should get the time they need to come out as good as possible, and in a larger context this is not going to hurt Sony as the average video gamer is likely more interested in the big multiplatform games anyway.

I'm okay with this. Would much rather play a polished game than a rushed one, and this is coming from someone salivating over The Order.

It looked graphically amazing at the event, but the gameplay was very dry.

This delay will hopefully transform the game into the awesome game I hope it'll be.

Delay is good the game will turn out better as a result. No point in working something for years and then release an unfinished product.

I'm sure Sony have something else up their sleeve even if it's something like Ratchet, that can bulk the line up out a bit.

i think this is all part of a master plan regarding the release of Beast Souls and TLG in Q4

the only positive thing i can take from this news is that's gonna be good for my wallet, other than that it sucks balls

Ru just said they are 125 strong, plus the outside help on the game. That is a pretty sizable workforce for the kind of game it is.

This is pretty much how I feel as well. I'll be busy just keeping up with the third party games. I want RaD to take their time with this one. It'll be that much better when it comes out (hopefully) early next year.

No complaints here, my wallet appreciates the delay, and I have a Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One to buy games for so I don't think holiday 2014 will be scarce for games to buy.

No doubt avoiding the crowded holiday season is good for a new unproven IP, but I feel that a console should have 1 blockbuster exclusive for the fall season, always. The Q1 period is becoming more and more the preferred period to release a game in, and there is nothing wrong with that, PS3 had a steady outflow of games in Q1/spring in its lifetime (Motorstorm games, GoW, Heavy Rain, KZ, Twisted Metal, inFamous SS), but the console also always had a good output few months earlier in the Q4 season. My dissatisfaction stems from the lack of another exclusive to look out for this year, and that a launch game is now the only major one coming up.

edit: I reckon Sony also planted another game for spring 2015, so we'll likely get 2 PS4 games now, unless the other is pushed back.

That would be awesome if they were actually on a new engine with new textures.

PS2 games may get away with a resolution bump but that doesn't work on ps1 era games.

you keep saying feburary, that's pretty optimistic given that they're "targeting early 2015".

i mean, we all know what "targeting" means when it comes to AAA development. especially in regards to a period as vaguely defined as "early 2015".

wasn't #DRIVECLUB: PLEASE RT originally delayed until "early 2014"?

Greatness awaits. in 2015.

Good thing for 3rd party as Sony's 2nd half of 2014 is anywhere between abysmal to non-existant in terms of their own WWS. I'll buy TLOU again when it comes out though.

This thread is a prime example of the console war stupidity.

Most people have enough time/money/effort to get 1 console.

They make their choice and then spend the rest of the time trying to tear down the other console to make themselves feel like they got it right.

Just enjoy what games you have access to and stop crying.

Don't know why they do this. Any exclusive right now is a guarantied multi million seller. See KZ SF and second son. One a criminaly bad sp game and the other a fife hour open world game.
Cut the games to a manageable length and push it out. Care about the rest in the sequel.
