Given the gravitas of the article and the position of these two people, it does seem pretty official. I'm not sure the Editor in Chief would post something like this without adding "rumour" if they weren't confident about it.
And thus the thread title:

This is a damn shame if true. Maybe Sony purposely leaked false information to lower expectations, then at E3 blow everyone's minds away with it still coming on PS4 and with a release date..... I'll probably officially give up thinking this is coming if TLG is not shown or mentioned at this year's and next year's E3.
It's IGN's sources who told them this. Don't think they would have posted this if they didn't believe in it.

Yup, same. Have we even seen/heard much about this game besides the E3 trailer..five years ago? Seems like a cool idea but we pretty much only have a concept video so far.

If this is true, I'm not surprised, especially considering how long the game been in development and we heard so little about it. I didn't have much hope for the game to be good but this sucks a lot for people who looked forward to the game, despite how long it been in development.

they've released two games as "team ico", but remember that team ico is within the bigger studio japan. the members of team ico have been involved in many other projects from studio japan.
That's what I was saying! And so long as it remains simply a rumor, it can't be just an outright lie, right? I mean, come on, this news comes out less than two days before Sony's press conference. The only way we'd be more excited for a The Last Guardian reveal at this point is if we believed there was no way in hell it was happening. That's what the rumor is for.

Come on people, Sony wouldn't play coy for this fucking long on a game and waste that much money just to shitcan it like that. They know there is hype and they probably have IGN in on it as close as they are. They never officially cancelled the PS3 version, now they have. They are doing this two days before E3 to get peoples jimmies rustled then BAM standing ovation moment as they unveil The Last Guardian for PS4. Blatant media manipulation.
