No integrity over there. So even if Sony responded instantly to their requests before the article ran they would have STILL put the article up as may be canceled?

If you believe your whistleblowers/sources, you still put the article up with proper care. That what you have to do if you have some integrity and are not just a PR mouthpiece. I am not saying this is the case (I believe Sony is telling the truth and IGN sources might have picked the wrong thing up), but companies and people do lie at times.

Which is why my argument that if it really IS cancelled there needs to be consequences for him is valid. No one at that level would not know the true status of the game, nor stick their neck out and say that if there was now a chance of the game being cancelled soon.

Yeah totally agreed. I have never been more sure of TLG's existence than now. I mean the kind of backlash Sony would get if this gets cancelled now is the kind that could be bad enough to actually affect the brand. I just don't see him risking his neck like that.

This is why real journalists go to the official organizations (In this case Sony) and attempt to get a confirmation. You wait for that confirmation and then if you are slow-walked you post what you have - with caveats of course. That is how journalism WORKS. What IGN did here was not journalism. It was rumor-mongering. They rushed to get the story out and didn't wait for confirmation. They deserve all the shit they are getting for shoddy reporting.

Usually I'm on the "Guys, I don't think IGN is nearly as bad as you're making them out to be" train. I'm a reasonable guy.

But THIS? How they handled (and are handling) all of this? It's pathetic. They deserve every joke coming their way and every scoff at E3.

Every time a Sony spokesman was asked about the status of The Last Guardian they repeatedly confirmed it is still in development but they're waiting for the right time to re-introduce it.
