Actually, that was impa. IGN failed me.

The front of the hair looks the exact same as Link in SS, and Link hair in SS was browinish (more so than Zelda anyway).
I do agree that it's not the same exact Hero, I'm just arguing that it looks more like Link than Zelda.
Could very well turn out to be Zelda or a female-link or something, but if we're going to make comparisons with characters from previous characters, the model is closer to the last few Links than it is to Zelda.
Thank you
What if this one isn't a Gerudo and it leads into a completely new plot?
I'm practing my stretching muscle but I want to believe.
Yeah, the boobs may be debatable, but this Link DEFINITELY has hips. It's a female character.
But I don't think it's Zelda.
I really would rather it be a female version of the Hero of Time.
And, if so, I would LOVE for her to still be on a quest to save Zelda. <3<3<3
Come on, Nintendo. Prove how subversive you can be!
One choice in the character customization will differentiate the men from the boys
That design is awesome, regardless of however the character is.
It'd be nice for the franchise to have a female leading the game, for a change.
You just spoiled it, Zelda was born a scrawny looking male, and Link was born as Zelda. LE big spoiler.
You mean all but one of your signs are pointing to this being a different character, not necessarily female.
I thought it was female at first, but after the trailer concluded and nothing relevant was said I just brushed it aside. I can't even say for sure what gender I think this character is. It could go either way.
Really wish we could have seen a lot more.
Can I just say how beautiful this shot is?
No. Definitely not. Not at all.
Honestly, I'd love to play through as a custom character. You could make it look like a classic Link, or do something a bit crazier.
'Standard' template would be a regular looking Link, that appears in art (and of course, the box art).
I don't think they would choose a more feminine looking design if they were just going to decide on another male character so I really do think all signs point to a female character.
Especially the feminine features.
I was honestly under the impression that was a girl.

Yep. Finally lets "YOU" really be the hero of time.
Especially with the open world idea. Makes more sense to really immerse the player in the world.
My Link would of course be the classic version.
How do YOU know, he could be wearing makeup! And it will be totally justified.
It's not Ganondorf, that'd be ridiculous. Now if they made a game where you DO play as Ganondorf I'd be all over it, but the similarities on the bracers (they're not exactly the same) are superficial at best.
To hear what from him? He didn't say anything except that maybe that isn't Link since they're not wearing the tunic and cap. Literally nothing was said about gender. It's happening.
The gender discussion has been ongoing about the character shown for a little bit now, and all the theories are interesting.
To hear it from the man himself though, holy fuck.
The character doesn't look too different from other Link styles to me, so I didn't even think "Hey, wait, that's a girl..." but maybe I've been programmed to consider anyone who looks remotely like Link to be a guy. And it's kind of sad that without super obvious feminine visual cues that I'm like, nah, it's still gonna be a guy.I don't think they would choose a more feminine looking design if they were just going to decide on another male character so I really do think all signs point to a female character.

So now people want a female Link? God, I have never wanted to return more to "Zelda needs to be more like Dark Souls" discussions.
I see no boobs.
I'm sorry guys but maybe you haven't watched enough anime... there's nothing female about the 'Link' we saw. The jaws and shape of the face is all you need to go on.
I think what Aonuma means is player-created characters, which seems logical since 'Link' has always been a link between player and game.

But to be clear, it'd be Zelda though. As in, she(well, he) would talk, use magic and arrows, and have whatever personality she/he has. But would be a male.
If your answer remains the same, is it more about playing a girl then?
Can I just say how beautiful this shot is?
The Legend of Link: Zelda's Adventure. I'm going to call it.

I will bet money that this game is set in the Wind Waker world shortly before that world is flooded in the 'Era Without a Hero' and this new character, whoever he/she is, is trying to save the world but will ultimately fail and the world is flooded. Hence why this might not be Link, as that time period had no 'Hero of Time', and why some things look really Wind Waker-y. Would also explain the vast open world and the mountains as Wind Waker also had a HUGE world and the tops of the mountains became the new islands.
i could also be pulling this out of my ass and i'm WAY off but i'm sticking with it until otherwise stated!
I personally don't think Zelda is the right game for that, and would rather that didn't happen.
So? Not every girl has gigantic boobs. The outfit might be fitted to hide them.
