Rusland has never made it out of the group stage and SKorea has pretty much the worst form of all teams right now.
Oh I thought they both were supposed to be pretty decent. Well, I really have no idea what to expect thenThe Korean squad is the most unorganized, inexperienced squad I've seen in the 4 world cups I remember. I have zero expectations
I think it's inevitable that the U.S. will win a World Cup within the next 30 years. The sport is gaining a lot of popularity here and more and more parents will put there kids into soccer.
We're a country of 300 Million with the possibility of the best training and facilities in the world.
BTW how did China a country of 1 Billion not make the World Cup?
So Belgian GAF; are your bodies ready?
A lot of these "good" teams have been flopping pretty bad so far, so I'm not convinced yet, hopefully they show their worth today! Why forced? They have one of the most talented teams in Brazil, look at names like Courtois, Kompany, Witsel, Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku. They did a great job in the qualifiers. It's only logical people are hyped, now is the time to prove they are worth the hype. (And I'm sure they will)
I tried my best translating it but I reckon the joke is completely lost then![]()
Still pissed off when I think of the Nigeria match yesterday
It's okay USA and Ghana will lose against Portugal and Germany so hard anyway.
I'm so fucking nervous.
Happy Ghana lost so at least something good happened yesterday

does anyone else find it annoying when people refer to their national teams as "we" and "us" even though its like the only soccer game they've watched in 4 years?
No that's part of the fun.does anyone else find it annoying when people refer to their national teams as "we" and "us" even though its like the only soccer game they've watched in 4 years?

Have you been paying attention to their team? Nothing forced about it.
This is incredibly cool hahaSo I'm a complete and utter novice when it comes tosoccerfootball (as well as pretty much every other sport on the planet). But the hype surrounding the WC has peaked my interest, so I though that I'd use today as a test of sorts to see if I could get into it. So here's an analysis of today's games from me; an American who doesn't particularly care for sports and hasn't sat down to watch a game ofsoccerfootball since...ever?
Germany vs. Portugal- I was rooting for Germany in this one, mostly because (between the two) I'm more invested in them since I took four years of German in high school and like Germany as a country. I know absolutely nothing about Portugal or its team, other than apparently that Pepe guy has a history of being an asshole? Either way, that was a fun game to watch. That headbutt was ridiculous.
Iran vs. Nigeria - Well, this was a snooze-fest. That random camera shot of the blonde girl in the audience was easily the highlight. I wasn't rooting for one team over the other so I was ready for either to win, but the game kind of went nowhere.
US vs. Ghana - Obviously I was rooting for my home team, and was glad to see them pull out the win near the end. I was amazed at how much time Ghana had control of the ball and yet kept missing the goal by a country-mile. It was kind of sad to see their players who clearly knew what they were doing continuously blow it. From what I could tell, the US got pretty damn lucky at multiple points during the game. Overall it was very enjoyable to watch though.
I have to say though, the highlight throughout the day was reading this thread while watching the matches. The commentary being provided by all of you made the games much easier to watch (pointing out which players were typically shitty/awesome/etc and what were good/bad calls by the refs). This whole day has been a pretty good learning experience as far as understanding the rules of the game too (as well as how the World Cup works). By the time the US/Ghana match began I found myself actually explaining some of the rules of football to my girlfriend, rules that I had only learned earlier in the day :lol
I'm definitely hooked, looking forward to watching the games tomorrow.
Just because they have players recognisable to EPL fans doesn't mean they are good.
I've seen a few Belgium games and they have been disjointed at best; not much team spirit there for mine.
The men won the WC Field Hockey, it's only fair they let us win this one.
