Guys, what the hell, nobody was complaining about the grinding in this game before.

Ok, I don't know how this affects the online multiplayer because I only play solo, so maybe you're right to complain. But for me it seems you guys are overreacting. =P

Personally, as a racing games enthusiast, I do enjoy the slow progression.

Yeah I don't really mind the grind per se... I just wish we could do the big championships without having to do all the endurance and drift crap.

Yeah. I love endurance, but I don't enjoy much the tuner and street sessions. ;(

Under no circumstances did we make the game a grind on purpose (that much I can promise you), in the grand scheme of things it's still relatively easy to progress via single player and online it's not that difficult to earn money.

Regarding the extra rewards for x2 race length etc, it's unlikely at this time.

Sorry but it's sound exactly "on purpose" to me. You wanted get the sim community with GridA but put things directly from F2P and full arcade games. In my eyes you like rich people a lot more than serious racing players who want to play for real.

I've made a quick comparison to demonstrate:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_UkBvts_0U

GRID is on default steering settings, I am just changing the steering lock from 270 to 900 in the T500 driver. I could put any sim in the middle there, iRacing was just convenient to compare the same car and track. The video should hopefully show that GRID running at 270 exhibits similar responsiveness to steering inputs to a sim running at 900.

OK, I see your point but I still can't comprehend that shown 900 for iRacing is actually 900? The movement of the rim is simply too "short", there is nothing "natural" there. Shown 900 for GRID looks to me as 900 should look (and be executed) IMO?

I am surprised with the behavior of the wheel in the "900" mode in iRacing. Car is literally steering like it is F1 vehicle, even faster. Hm, I find it strange.

Shown 900 mode in GRASP looks way more natural and in line with the sensation I expect (and I have in the games I play) when using 900 mode.

Speaking of endurance, one bizarre thing that I've noticed is that the AI always go like crazy on the Sheene turn on Brands Hatch. They always brake insanaly late and put at least two tires on the grass. It's suicidal not leting the AI overtake you before that turn. They'll always ram into your car. Is there a way to fix that, Loore?

Just wait the AI behavior booster pack DLC.

Welp... So a bunch of websites picked-up Loore's post here about the paid DLC in Grid 2.

Was nice knowing you Loore!

I've not been taken out back yet :)

I won't stop talking to you guys either, it is my job to answer questions our Community has, sometimes the questions are hard, but I don't ever want to get to a point where we shy away from it. If we ever get to that point then I would have failed as a Community Manager, what's the point if you can't talk to your Community through the bumpy moments?

Honestly I really like your interactions with us becuase it makes you guys feel like human beings for once. It's refreshing and don't stop.

On the topic of DLC, the progression pack isn't anything new. I bought an unlock everything pack a year or so ago for burnout paradise because I lost my save. I buy the unlock everything for wwe games because I want all of the wrestlers. I can see how that sales. They are here to make money too and yes I understand how it looks but as long as they get to keep on making good racing games, id say let them. I haven't seen anything so far as to say that a booster pack is needed and I'm even doing 2x races.

I assure you that iRacing is seeing my wheel as 900 (actually about 880 after calibration). As with several modern sims, it applies the correct lock for each particular car. So in the case of the 12C GT3, iRacing sees the wheel as 900 but applies its own soft lock at about 540, as this is roughly the lock of the real car. The same goes for rFactor 2, PCARS and AC. RaceRoom sticks with the older convention of having a ratio adjustment, but the result is the same once set correctly. Thing is, even if I set the wheel to 540 in the driver to play GRID, I'd still have to apply more steering angle than these sims at 900 to make the same kind of balanced turn.

If you think my footage of GRID at 900 degrees looks correct, I have to strongly disagree. You can drive the car like that in a sim, but only by inducing massive understeer through every corner:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEvQkicV1iE

I've added a few more sims to show they all behave similarly with 900 set in the driver:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abQY6OtsyBs

RaceRoom's 12C seems to be the most understeery on default setup - you'll see I needed a tad more steering angle in certain corners, but it's still comparable to the other sims and nothing like GRID at 900. I used a Bathurst mod in its early stages for Assetto Corsa which is not very accurate, but the 12C itself is excellent, so still a useful comparison. I used the Z4 GT3 as a substitute in PCARS as my access is limited and I can't drive the 12C - their real-world steering lock is similar.

It's the story
Of a man named Pazuzu
Who was busy with six sims of his own

Love the video(s). Very interesting to see them all lined up like that.

Regarding the boost pack we did similar with GRID 2 as a car unlock, we got a bit of flak from that but in all honesty and without any PR bull shit...it sells. There is a silent subset of players that do like that sort of content but whether or not it's here to stay is something the industry is yet to work out.

I can't really say anything else, the only response I have for you is the total truth. I don't want to spin it or anything like that. I'll probably regret this post in the morning, but hey-ho :)

One of the best posts from any company representative on GAF IMHO.

Doubt it's last gen only unless they hit some development issues for next gen because Lee Mather already showed pictures of Xbox One/PS4 wheels in their office. Not trying to make anyone into trouble so I will not say who he is but another designer at F1 tweeted about giving a PS4 version to an ex-designer now at Ubisoft (now deleted ofc). Also T4RG4 has tweeted a couple of times about PS4 superior capabilities for development. Why make those tweets if you are not working on PS4/XB1?

What is really weird is that Codemasters still haven't announced it. Everyone thought it was because of GRID Autosport, which never made sense to me since everyone knows they are going to release it and they are not really competing between each other. But now it's been 1 month since GRID Autosport and still zero F1 2014 news. August is a terrible month for reveals that appeal to mainstream like F1 games does so it's quite weird they haven't announced it yet. Maybe that's why T4RG4 keeps wishing for Andy Gray to return to Codemasters.

My uneducated guess is that the game is going to be a late October/early November game. Or maybe last gen is typical late September/early October and next-gen is delayed and released later.

I think that they started working on the next gen version right after F1 2011, since the 2012 and 2013 iterations were made by Gobo Games, right?

Does anyone else get weird graphical artifacts when you crash? I noticed it in Grid 2 also. Is it an effect or something?

Isn't the camera effect supposed to be akin to a TV signal that goes awry? At least that's what I remember from Grid 2..haven't crashed much in G:AS

PC GAF, we just dropped a patch that fixes a few things as well as adds a couple of new things in.

http://blog.codemasters.com/grid/07/pc-patch-30th-july-grid-autosport/

Hi! There is a problem in Grid Autosport that's not fixed yet.

Everytime I select a higher than desktop screen resolution, game locks framerate to 50 fps. Going back to 1080p doesn't fix the cap. A restart is necessary. And then comes the second part of the problem (this bug exists in Grid 2 too); everytime the game is launched, resolution resets to desktop resolution if a higher resolution is selected. Editing config file and setting it as read-only, doesn't fix the problem.

So, in Grid 2 I can use downsampled resolutions changing ingame options every time I launch the game, but no workaround is possible in Autosport.

How important for pc gamers downsampling is?

Near 1000 posts in the 'how to downsampling' thread
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509076

More than 2198 posts in Gedosato thread (Durante's tool to downsample only render view in every game)
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=807472

Thanks!

I picked this up on ps3 today and online seems to already be completely dead? The game is not even two months old, and it's Sunday afternoon and not a single person playing online? Pretty disappointing. I guess the game must have flopped pretty bad?

I only played a little career... I wish there was a damadge option between full and none. In touring the AI seems super-agressive and in every race I tried by the second lap my car is practically falling apart through little fault of my own... Not exactly a great first impression...

Dead online for the PC too in many regions if the Steam forums are anything to go by..cheating doesn't help things either although CM are patching in VAC.

On another note, I hope the DLC picks up as what has been released thus far define the word underwhelming, more so when Reiza Studios releases a 3 GB download for Game Stock Car Extreme that is free which includes amongst a raft of changes, 3 new vehicles (including 2014 F1 cars) and 3 new tracks two of which have mutliple layouts.

If Codemasters are going to keep on using the current multiplayer matchmaking implementation on PC, DiRT 4, F1 2014 and any other future Codies titles are going to suffer from having almost dead multiplayer in some regions soon after launch due to the idiotic region locking in multiplayer. The region locking is based on Steam download regions. I'd guess that most people on PC are using UK - London as their Steam download server like in GRID 2 for better matchmaking with more players. I played very little of the multiplayer because the other Northern European players that I'd usually have to play against had no intentions of racing cleanly which is really annoying.

Well..this thread has died in the arse.

Team VVV posted a new pack has been released that allows players 'to revisit four locations from last year's Grid 2'.: https://www.teamvvv.com/en/news/com...Sprint-Pack-mini-expansion-for-GRID-Autosport

From the VVV article:
Each new geographical area ('Hong Kong', 'California', 'Cote d'Azur' and 'Okutama Sprint' ) contains six layout types, which are accessible through a 'Sprint' game type that's similar to a hill climb or rally stage

Looking forward to return to this game when I get my PC back up and running this week or next hopefully.

Really enjoyed the time I spent with it when I had it working a month or two back.

For £12 I bit on the season pass, tho the amount of free time I have vs. level of content in the base game means I dunno if I'll ever actually see any of the extras

The season pass, even at 50% off, seems a little stingy:

Car related (mostly from Grid 2):
  • Road and Track: Chevrolet "Tyler McQuarrie" Camaro, Nissan Auto Gallery Skyline GT-R, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde & Zenvo ST1 hypercar.
  • Coupe Style Pack: BMW Z4 GT3, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Cadillac CTS-V Coupe & Nissan 2009 (R35) GT-R SpecV.
  • Best of the British Pack: McLaren F1 GTR, 2011 Aston Martin Zagato V12 & 2007 McLaren Mercedes SLR 722.
Tracks/locations:
  • Sprint Pack: 24 new routes at four new locations for point-to-point races taken from GRID 2: California Coast, Hong Kong, Cote d’Azure and Okutama.
Non-Car related (but considered 'content' by CM):
  • XP Boost Pack: boost of approximately 50% more XP in career mode; 50% more XP, Vehicle XP and in-game Cash when you race online.
  • Premium Garage Pack: five additional garage slots for online car collection.

Loore confirmed on the Steam Grid:AS forum that the last of the season packs - Classic Touring (includes Silverstone and Donington Park) and Drag pack - are all that remain in the 'season pass'.

And for those asking if this title has died out (sad as Autosport a solid racer), here are the Steam stats: http://steamcharts.com/app/255220#3m
