Forza Horizon 2 Demo |OT| "Where we're going, we don't need roads."

I gotta be honest here, I did not expect FH2 to turn out as good as this demo is. I don't even think I'll be picking up Driveclub at this point (That's not flame bait guys). The graphics are pretty damned good, load time is minimal and due to that the events are seamless. I haven't noticed any pop-up and any jaggies (wasn't trying hard for the jaggies).

I know the game is 30fps but does it feel like it? I can't wait for the full game now.

this game is incredible. It brings me back to PGR4. There is so much to do and the racing just feels right.

I keep the radio on the "Bass" channel. Love it. The game is so smooth and it looks incredible. The presentation is also very good.

Hopefully that's just in the demo. I kinda think that will be in the full game though...

There's obviously a small concrete/rock wall area cordoned off there. I wouldn't expect to get past it.

Kind of silly to actually, as you wouldn't be able to get out.

It looks like a small area compared to the massive open area around you. I wouldn't be so concerned.

Soooooo good. Smile on my face all the time. Such fun and damn good looking.

yep caught myself smiling in one of the rain challenges using the Evo X 2008. The rain stage just "clicked" for me. No restarts, no rewinds and i finished first without coming off. Absolutely fantastic game and i cant believe how good the rain looks. Love the setting as well. it's like im driving around in top gear.

I think he means the stone walls that are littered around the demo map.

I haven't had the chance to play the demo (work), but do they actually seem excessive? I'm just looking at the roads outside my work, and I notice a lot of pretty natural things a car couldn't barrel over.

Just starting the off-road event. Just getting there and mowing down fields was hilarious.

Get there any way you can, as fast as you can, Top Gear style multiplayer runs should be a blast.

I've only encountered two so far. Too early to say if they are excessive, but the first one I came across came out of nowhere.

Was a little surprising, but it didn't feel out of place. It was essentially a wall surrounding a house.

Never played the first Horizon and im having a hard time with the driving.
Handling feels weird. I wish it was a little more sim. Does adjusting the settings make it more sim like?

Someone realized how to look around the car?
I have seen some gameplay videos that the guy, in 1st person, look at the mirros and all like moving the head inside the car. I tried on the demo with left stick but it just changes the camera angle.

Well, you could always turn off assists (Traction Control/Stability Control/ABS) and use simulation steering...

I wouldn't say they're excessive, just somewhat jarring. I've come across a couple in places where it just seems strange that there would be a barrier.

Online is unstable for me, I just got thrown out of the game and party. Also floating cars everywhere, haha, should have recorded that. Hopefully it works better for me in the final game.

Press the right stick forward, and from there just move it around.

Seems to me there are barriers where there would be. Doesn't seem harsh to me. Would seem odd with no walls or highway barriers.

how good are the fuckin rumble triggers? it feels so amazing when you hit curbs, drift, lose traction etc. It really is a game changer in racing games. Turn 10 have really used it much better with this as compared to Forza 5.

The presentation in the game reminds me of Grid (which i think is a good thing).

The Koeniggsegg Agera was quite twitchy :/

Can anyone tell me what track is playing in the video that plays if you don't press A and just leave the screen sitting there...? Please?

Much as I love this demo there are a few spots with pop-in and where reflections in the wet roads has a much shorter visual distance then everything else, include car reflections in that too.

But otherwise I love what i'm seeing in the demo.

Game looks insane, but there is some pop up indeed. Overall it looks glorious.
was about damn time for a good race game too.

Been waiting for ages for a racegame to be released on PS4/Xbox One.
This game, Driveclub and Project Cars will keep my quite busy for the rest of the year :D

CCan I throw some love on rumble triggers, it's really awesome having a feel for when the wheels don't have traction, and when the brakes are locking up. Like when you are driving it's the feel rather than what you see that tells you whether your visiting treeville or looking like a boss.

Jesus this thread isn't making my holiday console purchase easy. Was set on PS4 at first (primarily for Naughty Dog but hell that's gonna be a ways off) due to Driveclub but man, these impressions are making me salivate. Most racers bore me but the open world aspect plus those visuals really makes me want to play it. Arghh!

I found some pretty amazing looking spots by trailing other people's drivators. :)

And the feeling of swapping out my slower evolution for that amazing Koenigsegg was incredible. It was some speed objective, but the difference in driving experience was amazing. Another thing that I'm pleasantly surprised by is how much going off road changes the handling. If you actually believed that going off road is somehow exactly the same as driving on a road, you'd be highly mistaken.

I think Playground Games developed this, not Turn 10. Or maybe codeveloped?

Well I was really impressed with this game, but after seeing it I have one complaint. The per-object motion blur is pretty bad, how it doesn't blur outside the object's silhouette. Is that a limited frame buffer issue?

Is anyone else having the game sit at the initial loading screen after hitting A?

I've loaded it back up 5 times now and had it sit there for 15 minutes plus.
