THE EVIL WITHIN is the real deal! (UK Demo impressions)

It looks more like Action Horror I agree. But previews have been saying there isn't a ton of ammo so there's that at least.

It's a start. Dino Crisis never got rid of that ,,It's fucking Jurassic Park, dinosaurs aren't scary'' feeling, but the difficulty and low ammo definitely kept the tension way up. Though that game also still had Metroidvania exploration, puzzles, etc

It is not toast, because if it is great i am sure a lot of people will be buying it on consoles and think its great.

But if the PC version is an absolute mess and doesnt work right on so many machines that people consider high end as of just last year, and even this year, they are going to have a real problem as they have been pre-selling it for a long time now.

There will be people unaware that their 1500-2000$ beefy pcs cant run it and wont know it till release day. It is a necessity at this point they have the proper game settings to allow these people playable framerates in the 25-30 fps region.

Plus the fact that we aren't getting the same game we got for the last 5 years. I think we'll get over whatever happened eventually. It doesn't seem to fit. I'm gearing away from the PC version as long as the game is good. The BF, LoL, the MMOs, and the indies have all pushed me away from PC. Games need to go back to being good.

No demo coming before or after the game's release.
Pete Hines is a really cool dude for answering that.

Also, GAF hype train

I can live without a demo before release.

Now, no reviews before release? That's would bother me.

Curious why toned down? I feel the horror aspects already surpass what RE 4 horror was there.(at least from enemy design and locations I've seen so far) But I guess it depends on what exactly your referring to. If I get this before launch, Ill probably shit bricks on film.

Yeah, it's like the ears were cleaned out and a train is screaming down the tunnel. There's no need to belittle the hype we're already trying to establish here.

yeah that post was too ambiguous.

I mean toned down for the action/set piece aspect.

They toned down the action just enough all the while increasing the survival and horror aspects.

It's a positive remark, but came off wrong.

One thing I truly enjoyed about Dead Space was how Visceral took dying sequences and made each one unique. You were almost shocked by the way each creature could just tear you limb from limb. After the horror genre became semi-action genre we sort of lost touch of what that was. RE4 is by far a great game, but for a while that feeling was lost. I didn't care for Amnesia personally. I think they try and turn it into this Americana myth sort to speak, which is why I'm looking forward to TEW. The horror aspects yes, but it also brings back a reason to why I enjoyed the games to begin with.

So this is confirmed 30 fps on consoles, right? Wonder how much work they had to do to Id tech 5 in order to get that.

The Last of Us did a pretty good job with that. A Bloater sticking his fingers in Joel's mouth and stretching until a perfectly timed cut to the Game Over screen was pretty awesome. They weren't nearly as dramatic or lengthy as Dead Space's though. I fucking loved Dead Space.

Tomb Raider did that, too, for some reason... for no good reason.

Mikami at first said that this was his last directed game, but in some interviews he seems to have changed his mind. I guess that he will act more as a producer in general for tango, but i wouldn't count out at least one more game after evil within with mikami as the director.

Also it's funny how bethesda published possibly two of the best games of this year

Wolfenstein and TEW?

There's some good news about loading times:
-TGS build load times upon death were reduced compared to earlier showings
-According to GameWatch, the load times are even more reduced in the gold master/review version
-For those still hesitating which version to get: PS4 load times are significantly reduced compared to PS3 (same for X360/XboxOne).
The complete install of 40GB is only possible on PS4/XboxOne compared to the 7GB mandatory install on PS3. Also, bd-drives read more data faster than a dvd

TLDR: if you can't upgrade your PC, next-gen versions are the way to go for the best TEW playthrough. Not only the graphics are improved, but the load times are a lot better

Aww yiss.

I don't know why, but the past few days kind of made me lost hype for the game.
Better this way, because I don't know exactly when I'll pick it up so it would be a bummer if I have to wait a couple of months to get my hands on it.

I'll stick around, but not as enthusiastic as before :(

Make it an impulse buy. Go out of your way and just do it. Call it a seasonal offering.

Were you planning to play on PC? Cause that is what eradicated my hype the past week. Real bummer.

Is it because of the PC specs situation? That's really the only thing that has put a damper on this game thus far.

It:s already pre-ordered, but I looks like I'll only receive it at the end of November because of delivery issues and the Correios (the company that delivers the mail and things wr buy online) are saying they'll start a strike.

This kind of bummed me out a little bit too. But now I'll get a PS4, so it will run. But as stated above, I'll have to wait longer. So I'll keep myself less excited for it because I can't stand more 2 months of pure hype...

Do you have anyone you know in a surrounding area who can get before you can? Then all you'll need to do is drive and pick it up. Pay them for the hassle.

I already posted this on the Requirements Thread. I thought I may repost here because the hype train is in this thread:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CyHfSOv.jpg

From the Steam Community. A guy asked Bethesda and they replied the 4GB are concerning "Total Shared Memory" ... see Picture.

For example: My 770 has 2GB dedicated VRAM and 2GB shared VRAM. Together that's 4GB. It's a weird way of posting Requirements ... but well. I thought I should post it."

That is an option, but I've pre-ordered from Amazon because I want that sick backcover, and I'm pretty sure the game in my region won't have it (it usually don't). So, even though I pick it up at Correios when it arrive, it will only be in November...
At least I'll be playing Shadow of Mordor until there (which comes out here September 17th)

We actually have conflicting reports from official sources.
Wah.

My money is on miscommunication between Tango and Bethesda.

Let's put an end to the worry.
The development hardware specs from the people at tango are HP Pavilion Elite HPEs with an i7 and an Nvidia card.

Here's a list of all released models:
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?..._client=S-A-R163-1&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=us

The latest models are the 570t/580/590t series. These ship with these nvidia cards:
  • GeForce 405 (1 GB)
  • GeForce GT420 (2 GB)
  • GeForce GT440 (1.5 GB)
  • GeForce GT440 (3 GB)
  • GeForce GTX460 (1 GB)

Note that debug versions/running IdStudio itself requires a more powerful machine.

The coders are also rocking some HPE Elite H8/H9 desktops.
You can find the models here:
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?..._client=S-A-R163-1&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=us
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?..._client=S-A-R163-1&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=us

Surprisingly the "best" GPU selection these ship with don't have 4GB dedicated video ram.
  • Geforce GT 640 (3GB)
  • Radeon HD 7670 (1 GB)
  • Radeon HD 7770 (2 GB)
  • Radeon HD 7950 (3 GB)

This is development hardware, so everyone should relax.

...so unless I'm missing something, .who wrote these specs ?

Im alone on this or not but thinking about this game and in Mordor, both side by side and thinking wich one I want more, this one always comes on top for various reasons, it has more realistic gore, is not an opne world and is a horror game, I have not played something like this in full game since RE4 I think, Re4, Alone in the Dark 2Disc version on PS1 I think that was the game with some great soundtrack.

Im not saying Mordor is worse or will be worse it could be the contrary and be the better game, weird things had happened before but so far as of right now I want to play this more than anything else*.

*Not named Diablo 3 RoS

Guys, help.
I lost ALL my hype for the game.
I'm even considering to pre-order Shadow Warrior with the money I was going to use on TEW.
I even changed my avatar!!!

Don't know what to tell you.

It's hard because the trailer was really well done and gave me a bit of "fresh air". But one day later, the "air" is already "polluted".
It's probably a phase, I'll wait before I make a bad decision regarding towards whom I'll e putting my money at.
