This better not be happening. I was planning on picking up a discounted copy during the holidays.
In stock at every bestbuy around me.
Nintendo has a record of under shipping 3DS and Wii U games. The gamestop near frequently doesn't receive enough copies to cover pre-orders and then suddenly weeks later they receive another shipment.I think it's just shops not ordering too much aside from pre-ordered copies.
There were like 10 copies at my local Best Buy last night, heh. Pretty easy to pick up for me. I was actually kinda sad to see so many copies still sitting there.

You'll have it Tuesday if you have Prime or if you sign up for a free trial for Prime. You're in NYC, though, right? I'd think someone's gotta have it there, like a Target or one of many, many Gamestops in the city, or Mom and Pop shop.
In all seriousness if nobody preorders the game then they aren't going to carry a ton of copies. That makes plenty of sense.
Man, I lucked out so much at Target, then, I guess. I got the last copy and the guy who got it for me was cute.
Target is a magical place. I remember when the Gamecube released, I went out bright and early to Best Buy right before they opened *just in case* and to my horror there was already a line some 20 people or more long. The Target next door was already open, so I decided to check it on a whim. To my surprise they had half a dozen Gamecubes in stock. I grabbed one and high-tailed it home, the people in line at Best Buy none the wiser. Suckers.
Nintendo has always shipped adequate copies of games before.
Good job for telling them.

This is a recent thing this generation. (Wanna pimp the eShop perhaps)

I was counting on something like the W101 deal(s), but perhaps you're right. You're looking at getting a secondhand copy because I wouldn't expect that in retail for a game like B2. There would have to be excess stock for that and I doubt retailers are taking the chance.
I see it available on Amazon.com. From what I can remember, it was one of the first places to be hit with sever undershipments last year, right after Fire Emblem: Awakening launched.
Should've pre-ordered, might be different in America, but Nintendo only ships to retailers to cover preorders.
Because stores aren't ordering as many copies of their unknown games as before because those games aren't selling well anymore.
I mean, I feel like this is a genuine question I should ask since I kind of just presumed people knew the answer, but
Do you guys know how the store-publisher relationship works and why some games have more copies than others on shelves? Hint: If your answer includes "The publisher decides how many to send alone," then you're wrong.
Doesn't Amazon deliver on release day?
I reserved and Gamestop didn't get enough copies in to cover their reserves.
Bayonetta 2 on the eshop is only $49.99 bucks, Bayonetta 1 is discounted to $9.99 if you buy Bayo 2 making your total purchase $59.98 so it's the same price (cheaper by 1 penny)I went to Best Buy at opening yesterday and they only had five copies out, so not surprised. Would have gone digital but wanted the first for free and not a discounted price.
He's lying and he's not even being shameless about it. Nintendo doesn't decide that, the corporate offices at Gamestop decide that. Let's say a Gamestop has 2 people who preordered Bayonetta 2. Chances are they're going to send enough to meet the preorders and maybe a few more for those rare people who didn't preorder a niche game. (If it's niche, always preorder.) Preorders dictate how many copies each store should get, and the person in charge of distribution for the various regions at the corporate offices are the ones who decide what stores get how many and how much excess stock they should have. Low preorders means there aren't many extra copies for non-preorders if any at all.Store manager at gamestop told me basically that nintendo is very reserved when it comes to shipping games to stores. Certain games are fine (smash bros and zelda and mario), however games like bayonetta, wonderful 101, and others are essentially determined by preorders.
more preorders, more copies sent. store can get 10 preorders, and 1 extra copy for non preorder. Thats how GS is with nintendo. not sure about other retailers.
