What Wii and DS essentials am I missing?

Short backstory: I skipped most of the Wii and DS generation because I was too busy with MMOs. In January 2013 I bought a 3DS to play OOT, which led me back to console gaming where I am overloaded with things to play on 3DS/WiiU/Vita/PS4.

I've decided that I should go back and pick up all the essential games that I'll want to play down the road for Wii / DS while they're still semi-available.

Here is what I have collected so far... (many of these are thanks to your suggestions)

Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Pikmin 1 and 2
Zelda TP and SS
Rayman Origins
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Little King's Story
Rhythm Heaven Fever
The Last Story
Punch Out
Trauma Center New Blood
Sonic Colors
Wario Land Shake It
Zack and Wiki
Wii Sports
Pandora's Tower
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
A Boy and his Blob
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
Okami
Klonoa
Resident Evil 4
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Mad World
Samba De Amigo
Epic Mickey
(played Super Paper Mario)
(have DKC:R for 3DS)

DS:
999
The World Ends With You
Chrono Trigger
Advance Wars Dual Strike
Pokemon HeartGold / Black / Diamond
Final Fantasy 3 and 4
Sonic Collection
Rhythm Heaven
Elite Beat Agents
Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise
Radiant Historia
Hotel Dusk
Last Window
Devil's Survivor
Radiant Historia
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Diddy Kong Racing
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Mega Man Battle Network 5
Dragon Ball Z Attack of the Saiyans
Dragon Ball Origins
(played Bowser's Inside Story)

On my radar: (going to add to this as people post games that I will probably get)
Wii:
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Trauma Center

DS
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow

What *must have* DS/Wii games am I missing?

You are missing every DS Atlus game for starters. Those are some of the best games on the system.

Radiant Historia
Etrian Odyssey 1-3
Strange Journey
Devil Survivor 1-2 (1 has a 3DS remake, 2 will do soon)

Also missing the Dragon Quest games, Infinite Space, and a load of other stuff that I'm not thinking of right now.

This was your first mistake, OP. Get all the Ace Attorney games on DS, you'll thank me later. Or you can get the Ace Attorney Trilogy on 3DS and then buy Apollo Justice and Ace Attorney Investigations separately. Also get Ghost Trick and Hotel Dusk since those two games are great as well.

If you're at all interested in importing you should get Ouendan 1&2 and Jump Super/Ultimate Stars. (All for DS.)

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
I'm gonna need time to think about this and look over my collection. You're looking to like triple your games though, you are missing so many must haves :(

For starters, like many said, you are missing all the Atlus games on both systems.

He has a 3DS though, I don't know if the new ports are any good but that might be the better (and cheaper) platform for them.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii

The other Castlevania DS games are also pretty good, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia.

He has a 3DS though, I don't know if the new ports are any good but that might be the better (and cheaper) platform for them.

Either way, he'd still have to get Ace Attorney 4 on the DS.

I actually realized that a few moments ago, so I edited my post. He would still need to get AJ and AAI on DS though.

I just noticed the OP doesn't have Donkey Kong Country Returns. That one is essential if you want to play the greatest games on the Wii.

No Bowser's Inside Story? Anyone? Get that OP.

Also kinda related but I'm going on a trip with my 3DS, and I have both Chrono Trigger DS and Radiant Historia to play for the first time. Which should I tackle first? Feel like the answer will be Chrono Trigger but just curious

Just saw the OP's edit. Even if he has DKC Returns on the 3DS, he still owes it to himself to get the Wii version so he can play it at a flawless 60 fps framerate.

Hotel Dusk for the DS. And the sequel, Last Window, if you can get ahold of it.

Oh yes, these two for sure. If you live in North America, OP, you can easily import Last Window from the UK since DS games a region-free. They're a great set of visual novels and the game where the dude in my avatar comes from.

If you have any interest in Pokémon/dungeon crawlers/roguelikes, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is pretty good.

And on the topic of Pokémon, Black 2/White 2 are worth a look. Skip Diamond for Platinum - Platinum fixes the crappy battle system delays from Diamond/Pearl and has additional content too.
