Update: For PC, apparently. Xbox One am cry.

DirectX 12: DirectX 12 enables PC developers to have a new level of power and control and is a single API developers can access across Windows devices. As shown with Fable Legends running on Unreal Engine 4, there has been a 20% improvement in performance. And as announced today, Epic is creating Unreal Tournament using Unreal Engine 4 running on DirectX 12, which sets a new bar for visual fidelity in PC gaming.

That is a nice boost actually. The X1 is looking good with all the updates.
Going to pick up one over the PS4.

so why does this performance boost only affect Xbox One? Aren't they pretty similar in architecture, GPU-wise?

Yes, but DirectX is the software API that games use to communicate with the GPU. Since it's a Microsoft proprietary API, it's only supported on Microsoft's platforms.

THE SECRET SAUCE WAS REAL.

Seriously though, if that means 20% more space for resources, we could see a much needed graphics boost in terms of framerate and res.

Oh you guys...

Microsofts marketing/pr department does these things just to watch this place burn.

The clouds are now a thing of the past.

Funny that.
