PlayStation Network Service now has a status page

Gone are the days of manually updating support FAQ entries on their knowledge base to indicate whether or not the network is down.

Now they might finally have something that detects that stuff automatically?

Still can't log into the PSN store on my laptop using Chrome (Waterfox works, as does the PSN store on my PS4). But hey, a status page is good to have.

Please keep the console wars bullshit out of this thread, nobody cares about who invented this revolutionary feature.

I use both services, hence seeing the PSN page yesterday and also knowing Live's has had a long life. Answer my question and don't turn it into something big.

I think they may have. PSN has been running pretty well as of late
PSN is not one thing.

PS4 services differ stack wise from PS3 and PSV services, while of course also sharing resources and baggage design decisions made in 2005 and even earlier.

FWIW PSN has been fine for me since PS4 launch, aside from the major DDOS attacks and a handful of times where messaging was slow.

It seems to be different for people which makes me wonder if it's a regional server issue or something

I mean they have been re writing the code and making it more agile for future advancements. They finally got master account access for sub account. I think. Something has been changed under the hood.

Yeah sure. My point was more that there is a continuous rollout and migration going on.

Not everything is that happens surfaces to the customer level but they've been migrating hosts for years.

Sony must finally be starting a server farm. With all the new digital services such as Vue, PS Now.

Sony PlayStation has been migrating to OpenStack since 2012 (earliest public information I know of) and has been an Enterprise Customer for RackSpace since 2013.

PS Now is a different thing, though. Gaikai had a plan in 2009 for their world wide data center network and Andrew House granted the budget to make it happen after the acquisition.

Whatever is happening has been in the works for years, not months.

PSN has also had a status page, they just changed how it works. It's not a major thing at all.

In the grand scheme of things it's not major. Within the domain of transparency about network services it is a big deal.

Assuming this is now automatic.
If it still isn't, then it's still pathetic, just in a different way.

Is PSN down or is it just me?

Saying maintenance, but I am wary because I was fucking around with my DNS settings, so Im not sure if its me or PSN.
