What about Moa Racing?

Moa jousting :D

I loved Reach's credit/exp system, it gave the game some longevity. Reach is the only Halo I played the campaign numerous times due to all the daily/weekly/monthly challenges. I enjoyed trying to get all the armor and cosmetics items. Never did make it to Inheritor, that was a bit ridiculous to get!

Yup. There might have been better longevity with free maps, but I always felt like they missed out on the cosmetic DLC train at the time especially considering how long it took to get the higher-ranked items (and saving up for them too).

I'm offended that you'd even joke about me voting for Halo 3 AR starts.

<3
lol For what it's worth, you're like the upper echelon of Halo 3 fans imo :] I can't hate 'em all.
Cover looks beautiful. It's nice and clean.

By the way, looks like they're bringing back the original trilogy Banshee.

Saw Fuchs mention this the other day; it's exciting. With all the new stuff they're doing, I'm glad they're still tapping into the nostalgia of classic Halo and Legendary weapons are a good example of that. Hoping for weapon skins too, like the classic BR or Reach AR, etc.

Bullshit.
You're a liar.

But be warned... you may not return the same

So that makes your avatar a girl right?

I think I got this anime logic down.

Really don't like the box art. Works well as a big wallpaper, but cropping it down and pasting a logo on the bottom looks bad. Not to mention that trying to squeeze two characters beside each other in a horizontally limited space is messy. At least at the scale they are at.

Placeholder was so, so, so much better.

Pre-orders gave the hint that there will be exclusive stuff to enhance Spartan combat. So be prepared for anything. I'm saying it still, I think there will be Infinity 2.0, customizable scopes, weapon skins etc. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm fearing I'll be right.

Is it still equal starts if people who rank up or are progressed further, get scopes or sights that are easier to use in combat? Ie. The difference between iron sights and holo or red dot sights in call of duty etc.

What's the general consensus on any kind of weapon customization? If it doesn't affect damage or ability a player and the weapon is it cool?

Daaaaamn

Fixed
Mainly that it's only cosmetic, and even at that it doesn't really belong in Halo imo, but I'm not so salty that I won't wait to see it in action before I pass judgement. I've seen things that look much worse work just fine and become something I enjoy.

The Arena will be its own thing, IMO.

Everything has been carefully worded for equal starts in The Arena, it'll be different for the rest of the MP suite.

Spot on, I'm perfectly fine with diverse playlists and styles. As long as the H5 beta is the foundation I'm good to go.

Yeah it seems pretty obvious that the classic arena style of Halo is going to be the minority of H5's offerings. Whatever, at least it's there.

Now that I don't really play MP FPSes, I think I'm vastly more interested in campaign. Crazy what a difference a few years make.

No one will end up playing the "Arena" playlist. It's a terrible idea to segment players like this, it hasn't worked in the past and I really don't think it will work now.

Or 343 will just get rid XP unlocks and everyone will start with the same traits/weapons in every playlist.

Is that necessarily a good thing? During the Halo 4 discussions, I brought up the fact both styles of play Infinity vs. Classic are so different that having both may seem like a good idea giving choice but one inevitably suffers, and as we've seen in the past, the mode that is tougher, requires more skill and doesn't pander as much to the lowest common denominator is always avoided (Hardcore, MLG, Pro, Reach Arena, Throwdown) etc.

So what I mean is, if we get Infinity Multi-player Mode, and Arena Multi-player mode. You know Arena will suffer. I swear I hope I'm wrong, or that whatever non-Arena is, the base game remains the same. No ordnance, no instant respawns, static weapon spawns.

Match 1:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 3
Map: Valhalla
Gametype: Assault
Final Score: 2-1 Victory (Personal score: 10k/9a/8d; 0 Objective)
Comments: My roommate and I were on base duty the whole game and it was actually fun. The enemy team was actually assaulting our base and we were assaulting theirs. One downside to the match was that players joined in late.

Match 2:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 3
Map: Standoff
Gametype: Big Team Slayer
Final Score: 100-95 Victory (Personal score: 12k/12a/8d)
Comments: Roommate had an overkill on 2 Hogs without Rocket or Laser. I played very average like. Real competitive match.

Match 3:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 3
Map: Avalanche
Gametype: Big Team Slayer
Final Score: 6-0 Victory (Personal score: 2k/0a/0d)
Comments: Game started as a 7v3. Enemy team lacks the Halo Honor, and quits after a minute.

Match 4:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 3
Map: Rat's Nest
Gametype: Assault
Final Score: 3-2 Victory (Personal score: 4k/3a/3d; 1 Objective)
Comments: Roommate and I attacked for our 2 objective points, and I was on base defense after their second goal.

Match 5:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 3
Map: Longshore
Gametype: 1-Flag
Final Score: 2-0 Victory (Personal score: 8k/7a/4d; 0 Objective)
Comments: Our first round offense was fast, as roommate and I coordinated to get the flag in about a minute. Half of the enemy team left after they failed on their first round of offense. Also a guy named NevaQuitDude quit.

Match 6:
Playlist: BTB
Game: Halo 2
Map: Headlong
Gametype: BTB Slayer
Final Score: 100-63 Defeat (Personal score: 25k/3a/17d)
Comments: Game starts as a 7v6 with me on the 6. My roommate spawns between 2 of the other team. The other team has one player who is very good and the rest are in the decent to good skill range, while my team has me and my roommate and 4 people who lack any modicum of skill.

Match 7:
Playlist: Swat
Game:Halo 2
Map: Sanctuary
Gametpye: SWAT
Final Score: 50-40 Victory (Personal score: 20k/0a/10d)
Comments: We swapped bases and spawns just decided to place us anywhere afterwards. I'm fairly convinced Halo 2's spawns are just screwed.

Match 7:
Playlist: SWAT
Game: Halo 3
Map: SWATless
Gametype: Team SWAT
Final Score: 50-31 Victory (Personal score: 19k/0a/6d)
Comments: Game starts as a 3v4 with me on the 3. My performance with a K Frenz and double Trips rallied my team to a decisive victory. Shame the match started off on bad terms. Also it was good to see that Boundless is in the MCC now.

Match 8:
Playlist: SWAT
Game: Halo 3
Map: Citadel
Gametype: Team SWAT
Final Score: 50-35 Defeat (Personal score: 14k/1a/10d)
Comments: Game started off a 4v3 with me on the 4. TangoKiller and DesVDaBeast went an amazing -22 and went afk.

Match 9:
Playlist: SWAT
Game: Halo 4
Map: Monolith
Gametype: SWAT CTF
Final Score: 2-1 Defeat (Personal score: 33k/3a/34d; 1 Objective+all of my team's flag carrier kills, literally)
Comments: Halo 4 CTF should have been canned. It isn't fun. If your flag is away, you spawn at the back of the base. Melee contests were seemingly random. Also my teammate was carrying the flag and died, so the flag to fell on me and I automatically picked it up, which resulted in the loss of a potential triple kill and my death. That was enough for me to say, enough is enough for the night.

I don't think it's terrible, just the reality of what players want to play at any given time e.g. solo vs. small party vs. big party of friends playing. If I want to play ranked equal starts I play arena. If I want OBJ specifically I play that. If I'm part of a 6 or 8 man party we go BTB.

I agree they'll look to unify abilities, reduce randomness and hopefully the beta is that foundation of even playing field. I don't really see an issue with some playlists having differing starts/settings to suit that style though. Look at Grifball vs slayer, they're quite different and segmented but work for what gamers are looking to play at that time. Action Sack and/or rotational playlists achieve a similar thing.

The key is to use the experience from Halo 4 and move on playlists being more specific in their settings rather than the diverse vote variants and starts that introduced. Playlists should define the experience and vote variants are within that, not stretching across differing starts and abilities etc within a single playlist.

The cover art tells a story, place holder just has two guys in armor and that's about it.

I'd love a 2v2 playlist at launch with Legendary Magnum starts. A 1v1 playlist would be welcome too in order to set the precedent that lower player count games are important to Halo, I hope.

A 2v2 playlist needs to be there though.

EDIT:
You just want to turn H5 into CE2.
The tools are there already (granted the Legendary Magnum will be a thing), just need a CGB to show people the light, 1 minute OS/Camo spawns and all.

Well, more #HunttheTruth, of course. I'm also expecting some character intros for the teams; there are 8 Spartans, we've got 8 Sundays between us and E3, the timing works out.
You work out.

I'm really excited about blue team tbh, I was kinda leaning towards Locke just because it seemed like some real challenge was going to be in the chiefs way, but now? Chief will win for fucking sure.

I read that as 8 days... the sudden excitement hurts.

It's a god damn box art, who cares?

Well we know that AA's are out at the least. There's potential that Loadouts could return I suppose, but they were fairly inoffensive in Reach so that shouldn't be too much of an issue in H5 (assuming perks aren't returning which I doubt they will). I'm not too worried about instant respawn returning either since 343 ended up taking it out of most of H4 iirc. The only thing I can see having a fair chance of returning would be Ordnance drops with some changes.

Personally I think that Arena will encompass all of the smaller modes while the potential crazy changes will be reserved to stuff like Super Invasion and BTB Ultra Spartan Boogaloo. If that's the case I'm fine with it (assuming the changes don't suck). The difference in gameplay is already there because of the emphasis on vehicles and scale so I'm sure it won't hurt arena that much if at all.

The battle between John and Locke will probably be a fierce
ly short
one.

I'm excited.
