RIME: how Tequila Works wants to create the GOTY from Spain (35min video, Spanish)

Looks dope !

The art style is simply incredible. The game feels like Ico met Zelda Wind Waker.

My only concern is the fact that the same studio worked on "Dead Light" which was nothing to brag about.

I so hope this ends up being as good as it looks. Everything we've seen and heard about it so far is just incredible, it'd be a tragedy if it ends up disappointing.

Perhaps this is a chance for them to prove themselves. Pretty much everyone agrees that this looks pretty. Now we just need to know how playable it is.

It's a completely different type of game. Bungie also made Oni, which was pretty bad. I would have been more worried if they were making Deadlight 2.

Looks nice but I'm still not convinced that there's anything particularly fun or clever about it.

Can't wait to see more.

This will be my system seller. Game looks like it was just made for me, it's absolutely gorgeous, stunning, perfect looking.

Even if you ignore the fact that Sony is publishing and funding Rime, and Tequila Works seem happy with the relationship, the fact it needed sales to survive is in no way a healthy work business model.

The fact that it needed sales to survive is in no way a healthy work business model, huh? What am I reading here.

The article says they don't have a date to finish the game, so I wouldn't expect it soon, not even this year. This and the witness are my two ps4 most expected games.

Curious to see whether they'll be able to recommit to a 2015 release. At the moment, I don't believe it's anywhere close to likely.

It's great to see Sony giving devs a lot of freedom, just a shame that they don't have a good line up this year -_-

Looks and sounds amazing. :)

Seems like it might not release in 2015 for those who are expecting 2015.

Edit: never mind, they're targeting 2015.

And they don't release Rime on Steam. Fuck logic.

Because RIME is being published by SCE.

Some main points, though:

The RIME IP belongs to Sony.
Main inspirations are Sorolla, Dalí, Ghibli and Chirico.
The studio got saved by Deadlight's sales on Steam, but it will be a PS4 exclusive. It's expected to be released this year.

WHAT? I did not know this

Not like it's important, but that's almost always (if not, always, save for the PS1 era?) the case for games for games published by SCE. Well, it goes with most publishers, but there are some exceptions like Destiny (Bungie) and Sunset Overdrive (Insomniac Games).

I watched the video, here are a few points I thought were worth translating for those interested:

- You're playing an eight-year-old on an island in the Mediterranean. There is a strong focus on exploration.

- The atmosphere is a core part of the game. They specifically state how important their dynamic sound/music is to the experience.

- They're avoiding text boxes and outright telling the player what or how to do things. They feel modern games tell too much to the player and it ruins the experience.

- The art-style is heavily influenced from the paintings of Joaquín Sorolla.

- They're not going for a hardcore experience, where you're heavily punished for failing, but some intelligence is required for the puzzles and island navigation.

Saw a guy in the video browsing Twitter and Spotify instead of working :/

Stupidest thing I've read all day. In what kind of tightass computer-based job nowadays would an employee not be allowed to browse the net and/or listen to music ?

Everyone does that everywhere.

What matters is that you do the work well and on time, not which internet tabs you've got open at any point in time.

By the same logic we should probably make sure no one goes to the toilet except during lunch break because what tells me they're not taking that as an opportunity to slack off during work hours ?

No English subs after 3 mins :(

How do subs work, does it leverage HTML5 video so the video is loaded from youtube and subs are loaded externally, or is it a youtube supported feature?

Awesome!

Im glad its not a hardcore thing. The game looks like the type of game youd just love to do nothing and walk around in. very few games give me that vibe. The last game was Ni no Kuni.

My most wanted Playstation game, period. What little we saw last year was what sold me a PS4.

It was revealed pretty early on. Sony is funding the game. I don't see why people are so mad.

The game got rejected by Microsoft and the game wouldn't exist were it for Sony supporting them.

I knew they were funding the game but I didnt know that meant that Sony now owns the IP because of it

Indeed. I did that all time at work, and always delivered on time or earlier. If I couldn't take internet-surfing breaks every now and then I'd actually be less productive.

Very interesting, thanks for the info!

This is seriously among my most wanted games, I'm on media blackout but I appreciate the translated info, thanks guys!
- They were nervous to be compared to ICO and Wind Waker, their general influences weren't those two games
The first thing that popped in my head when I saw this game was it's ico with colors, lol.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Deadlight was pretty disappointing (I still beat it), but this game looks soooo gooood.

That's what makes me hesitant about getting hyped for this game. Deadlight also looked great beforehand, so they clearly have no problem nailing atmosphere and visuals in their games. I really hope they can deliver on all fronts with this game though.

Accurate
Well I hope it will go well since all the things I heard about the development don't inspire confidence.in the game.

But maybe it changed a lot since then so I will be optimistic.

P.S: Deadlight was a ps3/pc exclusive (i saw it running on a ps3) until Ms paid for the exclusive. Then Tequila asked again MS with Rime but they rejected it.
