Nor does it imply optimal games either. You guys are really jumping to conclusions here.
Android does not imply sub-optimal games.

So does this eliminate the possibility of an x86 processor?
Seems extremely likely.
Please be a phone. This is the perfect time, considering Samsung's diminishing market share.
RIP NX. It was fun while it lasted.
What does it mean exactly?
I know nothing about OS and things like that.
You Know... NintendoomWhy?

As long as the hardware is significantly more powerful than PS4 and X1 I'm ok with whatever OS Nintendo uses.
I never replied to your post, but I still won't eat crow on it because once again
1) You assume that the NX will replace the Wii U
2) You used no sources outside of speculation
3) You still are screaming to the high heavens how this HAS to replace the Wii U
So no, I still completely disagree with your original post. From my opinion, I think the NX is trying to be a "between" system from their home consoles and their portable consoles. But feel free the scream about crow and being all vindictive.
I dont know why some peoples think OS=Graphics...
I had to look this stuff up, I had no idea the Nvidia Shield was that good, I assumed the only way you'd get games like this on it was through streaming. Makes me super hopeful for the next Nintendo handheld.
Don't most game developers hate working with Android because it's so easy to pirate games and Google provides no assistance to keep with the open nature of the platform?
If that's the case, Nintendo is trying to repair their body by setting it on fire.
This grows my expectations that it's a phone-gaming hybrid. I already expected the focus to be Android, somehow to finally mix core gaming and a phone together.
Would explain the third pillar talk.

Maybe in some ways, but still - a lot of the patents MS holds are because they were one of the first smartphone developers with windows mobile. Don't know how much of those are valid for non-phone devices.I wonder If Nintendo will have to pay MS(for the pattens) like other Android hardware companies like Samsung, etc

Wouldn't it be easy to install whatever apk is needed to play games on any Android console?
Maybe I'm missing something here... Seems ripe for piracy.
Classic GAF
overreacting based entirely out of ignorance.
1. Android does not imply handheld. I guess the chromebook is a handheld.
2. x86 can be used for android, look at the Zenfone 2 as a more recent example.
3. Nintendo has no reason to release a tablet or handheld only console.
4. Stop overreacting based on snip of information. Playing the wait and see approach works here. If you are right in your overreacting OK, life goes on.
Nintendo would have plenty of power to make that difficult, here. They'd just end up doing exactly what they're doing to try to squash 3DS exploits: update.

Don't forget people here keep links to threads for years - you can be quoted on this when you talk about your new Nintendo console in Q4 2017.
(although being released in 2012, that would give the console a 5 year lifespan)
Also, FYI, this may open up the NX to UE4 support. UE4 supports Android already pretty well, and it's improving all the time.
For their console, this may be possible.
But much like the Remote Play functionality was ripped from the Xperia and ported to basically any Android device, couldn't the same happen to whatever service is used to play games on the console?
That's mainly what I was referring to.
So assuming this is true, would that make WiiU backwards compatibility impossible? Orr....
Can someone who knows tell us what the benefits of this would be?
Anybody and everybody is free to quote me, 'cos I always mean what I say and I always stick by what I say. If the Wii U doesn't get a FULL 5 years I will never again buy anything whatsoever from Nintendo - EVER.

Epic will never, ever directly support Nintendo hardware. Not in their DNA.

It depends on how Nintendo handles the kernel
No it won't! So Nintendo's new console can run all the games I have bought for my Wii U, but I have to shell out for a new console to play new games. If the Wii U doesn't last a "normal" length of time, Nintendo can go *&$£45$%%$%^$ and &$£%&$ themselves if they think I would put up with that (feel free to fill in your own expletives). I, for one, would never ever buy anything from Nintendo ever again.
However, to be fair, Iwata has said that they would stick by the loyal fans who bought a Wii U, so your scenario should not happen (if you can trust what Iwata said and it wasn't just PR bullshit).
Why would they implement backwards compatibility for what is likely to be their least popular console ever?
