Two giant robots with blazing guns is what apocalyptic nightmares and Michael Bay films are made of. While those autonomous machines continue to live in the fictional world, a breed of towering rideable robots is becoming a reality. One such machine is the MegaBot, a 15-foot tall bot large enough to seat two pilots. Unlike Hollywood's gun-wielding destructive machines, this one is armed with a paintball gun and is now ready to use it. But, of course, the Megabot needs someone its own size to pick on. So the aviator-wearing co-creators of this behemoth, draped in American flags, have thrown down the gauntlet and challenged the 12-foot tall Japanese KURATAS robot to a duel.

This vision was first introduced when the MegaBot made its Kickstarter debut late last year. The massive bot didn't meet its $1.8 million target. But the team went on to complete their prototype, the Mk.II, with the help of Autodesk this year. The KURATAS, on the other hand, has been around for almost three years. It's also been available on Amazon for $1 million since the beginning of the year. If team Japan accepts the challenge, the bots will be prepped and modified for the battle, which will take place a year from now.

Japanese mech looks cooler and they have a cute girl on their team, I'm very disappointed in my country.

hell come game time Japan will probably say their mech had a malfunction and then proceed to bring out an actual Gundam.

USA bot looks like it came from a future where cool superpower robots fight for freedom and shit

Japan bot looks like it came from a dystopian future where it is a part of an army of identical police/military bots that rule humanity

The turn radius of the U.S. Bot looks awful. I bet the Japanese Bot runs circles around it, pelting it with paintballs nonstop.

This makes me hate companies like Apple and Microsoft with their billions of dollars sitting around that could have gone into cool shit like this. You know, things that will advance humanity.

Lol, look at that scrapyard USA bot.
Japan has two miniguns mounted on one arm, USA has what.. 2 pipes?

Y'all are shitting on the American bot, but you know that the second they take out that camera on the Japanese bot it's as good as dead.

It sounds really cool, but I sort of don't want it to happen in case they both control really awkwardly and we end up watching people struggling to move around and aim.

They'll have a year to train the pilots and make sure they can actually control these fucking things.

At first glance, the US Maker bot seems it could just blow away leaves on your backyard. Where Kuratas seems to have a fucking missle rack/beam weapon hidden in there.

Neither looks particularly agile, so I'm imagining this 'fight' as just two big lumps of metal squaring off and pebbledashing paint at each other until the mags run dry.
