Atlus x Vanillaware HD Project

Neat. I own Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown
and have yet to play any of them.

Muramasa is the easiest to get into.
Odin Sphere as a good starter character. Then you do the game over and over with all the others. Too bad the second and third characters sucked because I could never play the last two that looked the most fun to play.
Couldn't get into Dragon's Crown. Should try again soon

The nico stream page says the new title announcement is the first entry in this new HD Project thing that Atlus and Vanillaware are teaming up for. Could it be a series of remasters? Wonder if stuff like Princess Crown and Odin Sphere are on the table too.

Perhaps a Vanillaware HD Collection?

That'd be hella cool.

All the pre-Dragon's Crown games bore me so none of those please.

Dragon's Crown HD would be nice. Just think of all the sexy delicious
food
in HD.

But Dragon's Crown already is in HD on PS3 (and technically vita)....thatsthejoke.gif?

PC, DC and this would be the only ones that Atlus would have access to unless they managed to work out deals with Marvelous and and Nippon Ichi for the rest of their catalog.

Still it's nice to see that DC was a big enough success for Vanillaware that it doesn't seem like they need to search around for publishers anymore.

I'd love to play Odin sphere with a good framerate. They could add more characters too if they felt like it.

I'm prepared to love anything by Vanillaware. :D Though the only one I've finished is Princess Crown on the PSP (the others are still unplayed XD).

Really looking forward to hearing more about this, but if it were a remaster of an old title, why would they need to team up with Atlus?

No remaster, brand new entry would be nice. Hopefully its not just a Vita remaster of Odin. Of course...

Really wish they'd try their hand at an RPG like Grand Knight History again.

I was just thinking the other day that it has been way too long without Vanillaware announcing a new project. So excited!

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I hope it's Vanillaware doing the graphics and Atlus doing the gameplay because we all know majority of Vanillaware games aren't what you call fun and interesting sans the graphics.

I think above all that, the biggest upgrade Odin Sphere would gain is widescreen display.

Since it had that map in the HUD to show what's ahead and behind you, but more than that it would be nice just to be able to see more.

Hopefully it's not as boring as Muramasa and Dragon's Crown.
Pretty games with great soundtracks, atmosphere and boss fights but all the good stuff is padded so far apart with boring shit.

I'd love that psp game

That's a no go since it's owned by Marvelous. Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown are the two Vanillaware games that Atlus published. They also published Princess Crown, which was a game that Kamitani designed before founding Vanillaware.

It's probably going to be Odin Sphere, but I'm still hoping it turns out to be an HD remake of Princess Crown. Would be a great opportunity to fix the limited inventory system, the repetitive dungeons, and the save points being spaced way too far apart. Wouldn't hurt for the backgrounds to receive a fresh coat of paint either.

Vanillaware has always been a top tier developer to me. Sure their games may not be the deepest out there, but they are nowhere near as shallow as others say. They are all also very unique, especially compared to what most of the market puts out.

EDIT - Am I the only person who thinks that "Touch me" is a dead giveaway for something on iOS/Android?

This sounds pretty cool. I loved Muramasa, but couldn't get on with Dragon's Crown weird 2.5D combat. Would be excited to play an HD Odin Sphere though.

I could only hope that this "Touch me!" in teaser image doesn't mean that we are getting mobile game.

Re: Atlus x Vanillaware HD remasters - what about EU then? If I recall correctly, Dragon's Crown wasn't published by Atlus here.

Hmm... I kinda doubt they'd waste their time to do a live stream just for HD remaster titles.

Dragon's Crown "Reaper of Souls"-style expansion for PS4 would be nice, maybe with a new class or two, a new world or two and some more loot...

...a man can dream, right?

Haven't played any of their other games, but thoroughly enjoyed Dragon's Crown (especially with the local co-op aspect of it), so I hope whatever they put out next has the same multiplayer fun.

It's a series of announcements of some sort though. The stream is also specifically tagged as the "Summer" stream in this series. So presumably there'll be another one in Fall and another in Winter. Nice to see Vanillaware get a long term contract with Atlus either way.

I have Odin Sphere but only played few minutes of it. Of all their games I have played Murasama the most which was a lot of fun (outside the copy and paste locations and enemies). So hyped for any announcement as long as it is a new game.

I'm thinking Odin Sphere HD.

For PC hopefully.

If it is a re-release they'll probably do more as well, depending on what they have the rights for.

Well, you can "touch" things on both Vita & PS4 as well, so we'll see.

Though I wonder if this is somehow SEGA-induced phone porting.

Either way, interested to see how it turns out. With how both Muramasa and Dragon's Crown sold on Vita, I'd be surprised if they skipped the platform with whatever this is.

YESSSSSSSS!!!!! Was wondering what Vanillaware have been up to. Dragon's Crown is 2 years old now, so their next project must be quite far along. Man I'm excited.

Ah I see, thanks. In that case you're probably right. Looking forward to the announcement!

So maybe... Odin Sphere HD, Dragon's Crown Remastered, and Princess Crown HD?

Odin Sphere is a very, very repetitive game. If they're going to remake it, I hope they work on improving the content too. If it's just a remaster, that'll be very uninteresting.
