So Amazon have their own shipping service now...and it appears to be terrible.

I was on Amazon looking at the shipment status of an order I made, and it showed that AMZL_US will be shipping my item. This being my first time seeing this, I Googled AMZL_US and found that it is Amazon's own, internal shipping service. I looked at the reviews for this service and saw almost entirely negative reviews about it. I've spent the past 20 minutes reading horror story after horror story of how terrible AMZL_US is. Reviews cover everything from packages not being delivered to packages getting lost to packages being left several feet from the front door to deliverymen not bothering to ring the doorbell. It sounds like Amazon is hiring the cheapest deliverymen they can find off the street.

Amazon says AMZL_US is delivering my package tomorrow, but given these reviews, I'm 50-50 on whether I will actually get it. It is a fairly expensive item, too, so it getting 'lost' or mis-delivered will piss me off. I'm paying too much for Prime to get such shoddy delivery service.

Has anyone else had stuff delivered by AMZL_US?

This is the first time I've heard of it and I've been using prime for quite some time. Did this come with prime 2 two day shipping or was it under the cheapest delivery option?

Just learned about their new shipping service this week. 2 of 5 orders were to be delivered by them. One was lost. The other was delivered 3 days late, 5 miles away.

My copy of Godzilla came via their own shipping service as well and boy they are odd. Lots of people have reported issues with AMZL_US on their forums and they deliver at odd times. I think both attempted deliveries came at 6 or 7 am to a residential area. X.x Also since I am in a gated community there were issues with that too since it didn't come through the usual delivery services that don't typically have problems getting in. I normally get Amazon shipments via USPS so it was weird to see this pop up in the order details.

No Prime and free btw.

It was with Prime with free two-day shipping, though the seller was a third party.

yes.

The first package I had delivered by them, the guy called my cell and I didn't answer because it was some random number. He didn't leave a message but forgot to turn his phone off and recorded about 3 minutes of him and some other guy in his car. I couldn't understand a whole lot, but part of the conversation was some guy like "yeah, amazon, like a reputable company, you know" and "get his number" and other weird stuff. I thought it was some failed phishing attempt.

He calls the next day and it went like this:
"hi, uh [wrong name]?"
"No, this is [right name.]"
"Oh, hi. This is, uh, amazon prime. Is your address [wrong address]?"
"What? hahahah" *hangs up*

then I checked the status of my order and saw that it was actually amazon logistics instead of the usual USPS or UPS. I had a conversation with customer service and they told me to give them the building code, to give this guy access to get in the building. Got pretty mad and said that I wasn't going to give some random guy access to the whole building. They gave me a free month of prime and had the guy just leave the package at the door.

I guess this is how they're gonna start cutting costs. No doubt it'll improve, but my prime packages have been constantly late since this started. it's shit.

Never heard of it. Where are you guys located that have had it before? Maybe it's only in a certain part of the country right now or something?

This sounds like a nightmare.

Well, as always, make sure to leave them feedback if you have a bad experience with this new service. They'll probably throw money and loot at you, if history is anything to judge by.

I'm in Los Angeles.

I also get packages delivered by ONTRAC and while most people I know have mostly bad experiences with them I have a great delivery guy.

People would rather complain and share their poor experiences than the good ones. That's why I take a lot of negative scored items with a grain of salt.

I think they have been used for the last year or two. Googling AMZL or AMZN_US will show a lot of complaints on Amazon forums. Basically no one likes them.

In SoCal here btw.

I'm in Chicago. Reading around, this seems like Amazon's way of cutting shipping costs. If AMZL_US going to be a regular deliverer, I think I will hold off buying stuff from Amazon until they get their shit in order.

I've received a book instead of my god of war 3 remastered. I even posted pictures in the OT thread showing the package.

ontrac used to be pretty bad imo but they have really improved. i no longer fear getting my package when they are delivering.

"You. Yeah you, with the crack pipe. Want to make $5 and half of this sandwich? Here, deliver this shit."

AMZN_US in a nutshell.

I don't understand. How can they possibly be cheaper than the USPS?

Not interested in that shit. Fucking amazon. I used to worship you, but these days they sound awful. Ya know, Google might be evil, but at least they've got their shit together.

I feel like I remember there being a story about them doing an Uber-style delivery service. Is this it?
i think they and ontrac use regular people. the people who've made deliveries are usually driving regular cars with no logo on it.

Yup..I've gotten a bunch of packages from some dude in a blue caravan here in Florida..was really confused. No missing items, so far..

Yes, they are terrible. I remember first my experience with them was them throwing my package at the door. I filed a complaint and haven't had a package delivered by them since.

Well, give em a chance and see how they go. Honestly, if you google'd "UPS" or "FedEx" you'd probably get more complaints because people usually only take to the internet to complain about these companies when there's a problem.

... How has anything changed except for the better on Amazon over the last 3, 4, 5+ years?

It didn't even have the invoice or anything. The amazon rep didn't want to believe me.

This one is especially shady cause you can't really find any info about it other than what Amazon tells you in the tracking info. They could at least be transparent about just what AMZN_US or AMZL is instead of having people have to search for info if things go wonky and get led to all the negative comments.

This isn't exactly with their shipping, but I ordered 2 nexus 6's on monday on my fiancees account with the prime shipping. I get a call to my phobe looking for her. Sounded like an indian girl or little boy. I told them I would not give her number to them, but they could call me back later when she was home. I googled the number and it was amazon. I guess if you make a large purchase they will call and verify your address. I dont know why they called me instead of her, or how they got my number. At least mine is coming fedex.

I live in the bay area and use Prime's 2 day shipping quite frequently and this explains why last package I received was not placed on my doorstep but at the bottom of my hill.

I'm always surprised but not surprised how shitty an American company is in the US while it's doing pretty well elsewhere.

They're doing pretty great here. Shipping companies never leave packages at the door, they always do re-delivers if no one is at home. They'd never accept a signature from a neighbor either. Threads like these make me realize how lucky I am, and how bad I feel for your shipping services and lost packages. It must be insanely annoying and frustrating. :<

Anyone know how this actually works? Are they just employing local contractors/couriers or is this a legitimate play?

Given the reviews, I assume it's the former. I've always learned to be wary when amazon uses a local ship service instead of the big 3. Every time that's happened, my package either arrives 2-3 days late or in terrible condition.

Amazon used to be a great company but now they are terrible.

They used to have good video game deals now all they do is match other store's sales (Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked stomps all over them), and they can't package things for shit (I've received so many damaged games/books from them that I've mostly given up on even ordering from them if any other online store has the item in stock).

I still order from them every once in a while, love getting Kindle books from my library, and Transparent is great but beyond that they are useless.

For the past 2-3 years everything posted by Amazon has gone through Amazon Logistics (I'm in the UK) and I haven't had a single issue (and I order a lot).

At least it's not Lasership
This. Amazon always used UPS for my orders, but for a period of 3 months they started using this company. I ordered like 4 things in that time frame, and none of them ever arrived. I'm pretty sure I had to get 2 replacements for the first item I ordered because they used Lasership to deliver the first replacement, which also got lost.

That makes perfect sense. I lived in SoCal for a while and half my packages wouldn't show up on time. I'd call in and find out they were just left at the post office because the guys couldn't get past my gate. Didn't even leave one of those notifications either.

Oh look
America is now finding out what Hermes is like.
Yeah they are terrible, took 5 days to get the guy to deliver to my office. He wouldn't go in because there was a gate with a security guard/builders at the front....whereas every other delivery company would go in.

Amazon Logistics used to be a legit courier company which Amazon took over (could be wrong though), probably why there aren't as many complaints, hardly any depots around the country though.

Wow, GoW 3 for The Secret? Quite a downgrade.

You just didn't ask-believe-receive hard enough.

op sounds like every delivery service to me.

people will just throw shit on your doorstep. if i'm lucky they'll actually knock. otherwise my package might be sitting there the entire day before i even know to go check.

luckily amazon texts you when packages are delivered now so its not as bad as long as the person scans that it was delivered.

Yeah I quit prime a few months ago....Don't wanna say too much because my brother-in-law works there but Amazon is nothing like it used to be.
