Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone (arcade port) announced for PS4

Super hyped.......then read the 'will be released as a download title'. DAMMIT!!!!!!

Would've imported a disc version, but i'm not buying a new PS4 to create a Japanese account just for one game.

Chances of a western release? I'd imagine pretty slim if we've PDX coming later next year.

Holy crap. They actually did it. Won't this compete with Project Diva X??
Digital-only is a huge bummer though.

Sega needs to announce a localization ASAP.

You can have a JP PSN account and US/EU PSN account simultaneously on the same system from any region.

PS4 isn't locked like Vita.

That SEGA jingle. I swear to God, if SEGA keeps doing their old-school jingle perhaps with characters doing it or without characters in every game from now on. SEGA, you are reaching towards the Redemption Company...

No way, this isn't true, surely? I bought a second Vita and created a JP account as switching between accounts got tiring real fast.

How would I go about signing into my already created JP account on my PS4 without losing any of my PAL games/saves/settings?

Now that I remembered, but Arcade is harder than PDF games. And if I am not mistaken, there is another difficulty level beyond extreme.

Your PAL games can be accessed by the JP account too. I guess the saves too.
Settings won't change.

It's the same as the PS3. I wil download this on my JP account, but will play in my US one.

Thats awesome news!!! What are the downsides though(if there are any)?.

I assume everything will be in Japanese. Will it know I have a Vita linked to my JP account and cause any issues with that? Anything important I should know?

It seems almost too easy (unless I was just expecting Vita levels of annoyance!).

I'll by googling up on this tonight, I need me some Miku :)

Games yes, saves no. Switching back and forth is as simple as holding down the PS button.

Only real annoying part about it is remote play is limited to whatever account is on your vita.

Soooo, i'm in my UK account playing whatever and want to play Miku. Quit game, hold PS button and switch accounts, i'm in my JP account with access to the store and Miku. If I want to play (and save) with my UK games, switch back to UK account? Thats it?

Too simple :)

Yup.

You could even play it on your UK account, without switching.

I forget about DLC though, may be limited to the DLC bought on the currently-active account. I'm not sure as I don't think I have bought much DLC on PS4 yet.

Even simpler than that if it works just like the PS3, you don't need to switch to the Japanese account at all unless you're buying more DLC or prefer to earn trophies on that account.

DLC is almost never region free. So if you do digitally purchase this game on a Japanese account, keep in mind that it will only read DLC purchased from the Japanese account.

This is why it's still good to get a localization announcement for these games. Not only is DLC for the North American version usually cheaper, but you can keep it all on your main account where it's easy to add money, unlike JP where the only simple way to get funds on there is to import JP PSN cards (pain in the ass sometimes and usually has an unreasonable markup, on top of the usually overpriced DLC for music games it can be quite the financial hit).

I forgot the password to my Japanese account.

I'm so glad I saved that on my computer's password manager... god bless you Lastpass

Yeah, I would assume DLC is region specific. Hopefully, before this comes out on the JP store we'll have some sort of announcement as to a western release.

If not, i'll be skint with all the PSN cards i'll have to buy for the DLC in this game!!!!

Thanks for all the info/help guys.

This is kind of a misleading statement. It's true that stuff from the home version series tends to trickle down a year or two after the fact, but more than half of the songs in Arcade never go the other way around. The song count just posted makes that point pretty clear, considering all the home version songs added together would not even come close to that total.

Agreed, the track list for the FT is too huge. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this when it comes out to find out how Sega adapts the simultaneous button pressing mechanic to a Dualshock 4 controller. They might also collaborate with HORI again to make another arcade controller for the PS4.

Supposedly, but the trailer cuts away from the controller to focus on the screen when all 4 buttons needed to be pressed at the same time. I imagine that might be feel a little awkward on a Dual Shock 4. The project Diva Arcade FT cabinet has the buttons placed to easily accommodate this action with easy and comfort. But maybe I'm just over thinking this.

Edit:
Correction, when 2 buttons needed to be pressed. Still, I think it might be awkward to hit all 4 at the same time on a standard PS4 controller.

Guys, i'm currently signing into my JP account on my UK PS4, its asking if I want to activate it as my primary PS4?

If I select yes will it mess up anything with my UK account?

was never a fan of the character models in this game, but In need more rhythm in my life.

I agree, but Future Tone does look significantly better than vanilla Arcade, especially with the proper lighting.

Just compare it to Dreamy Theater, it's like day and night.

(assuming you mean Arcade specifically, not just Project Diva in general.)

Tell me about it. The dedicated hardware and graphics engine used for FT makes the game look absolutely gorgeous. And personally, I've always liked the character models used in the Dreamy Theater games and I always felt that FT presents them at their best. Hope it looks exactly the same as the FT arcade when I purchase it.

Your dead difficulty?:p

More like epilepsy or just like your avatar: what the hell is going on.

The combinations of buttons were really hard to get it right and they came fast.
I tried this song in the arcades:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAUxPO0ihG4

It was also in PDF 1

and I failed miserably. Eventually I made it.

Now seeing the menu, I am not sure anymore about the extra difficulty. Not sure if there was an extra one or if some songs went beyond the 10 star limit in the PDF games

EDIT:

Another example:

I noticed in the trailer that they're not showing any slide inputs. I wonder if the PS4 touchpad can handle directional multi-touch input.

Since Arcade version has like 200+ songs, I'm really curious how the pay model will be. If it's something like pay per song then it will cost around $400-600+ to own all songs in this game lol

That... song. The nightmares from the project diva 2nd version are coming back!x_x Still looks quite insane near the end lol.

The mechanics looks interesting, but wonder what the PS4 version is going to be like, since I not sure if some of those mechanics are going to work on the PS4 controller heh.

I think hold might get unconfortable. The arrows work, the touch pad recognizes multi touch if I am not mistaken.

Nice, Sweet Magic is a cool song from Project Mirai. Probably cut, but it will do.

The other is Eletric Rosachureita. I probably translated Rosachureita wrong, but I have no idea what other words it could be.

It's Electrosaturator by tilt-six.

Also, here is the comparison of Sweet Magic between Mirai and Future Tone: http://youtu.be/d2i7zaIi7r0

In this particular case the song lengths are the same. It's also a good demo of how the Mirai songs have been enhanced for Arcade.

I haven't been a fan of the arcade models but these are growing on me as a nice change of pace from the F games. The extra detail adds a lot I think.
