NPD Sales Results for November 2015 [Up3: Combined Hardware For PS4 + XB1 + Wii U]

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I'm curious how Wii U did.

LOL, still funny. Ice cold.

I saw a relatively compelling argument that Tomb Raider would have done a lot better if it was debuting against Uncharted 4, because of media "which one is better?!?" hype whipping up platform warriors etc, but once Uncharted got delayed to next year and Fallout 4 got announced for the same day, that synchronicity disappears and suddenly it's dead in the water.

Bummer; I enjoyed the 2013 game and am looking forward to eventually playing this as it sounds like it's really good, but there is a ton of stuff coming out in 2016 and my backlog keeps on growing as it is...

Just to recap:

1. Activision Blizzard
2. Bethesda
3. Electronic Arts
4. Electronic Arts
5. Take-Two
6. Electronic Arts
7. Electronic Arts
8. Microsoft
9. Ubisoft
10. Ubisoft

Bethesda and Microsoft release titles like this about once every three years. It wouldn't be uncommon for their spots to go to Activision or Take-Two.

It feels like either Nintendo, Sony or MS will always get one of these spots but your analysis is not far off. Activision should be stronger next year.

Something like

PS4 ~1.55m
XB1 ~1.25m
WIU ~0.25m

Doesn't sound too far fetched, that is assuming that XB1 and WIU aren't too far away from last years results and that WIU isn't being overestimated.

Uh guys are saying it's less than 300k, so it may be 1.5 to 1.3 or so. Still I told many people that this year would be higher in the predictions thread because there was so much more in terms of incentives to buy.

Too bad I don't get points for that though.

lol I feel like Ubisoft is going to be in trouble. They dont have big franchises like what EA and Activision has now. Their AC is almost dead and other aren't that big seller. I doubt Division, Far Cry or Ghost Recon will sell anywhere near the Destiny, COD, BF, Star Wars, Titanfall etc.

Not sure the state of watch dog 2

Oh btw, Sales of PlayStation 4 this November were higher than any November for the PlayStation 2. (In the US)

That is crazy.

I have to be honest, I thought PS4 sales would start winding down by now. Seems both consoles are doing pretty decent all around.

Wow at TB selling only 200k... but then again it went against COD, Battlefront and Fallout 4.... if the guys at Square Enix launched the game this month probably would have sold better.

Don't want to get you in trouble or anything, but I know you have some contacts with SE. What is the internal response from SE regarding TR's sales? Also, is there any exit strategy or clause to get out of the mess, in order to attempt to re-invigorate sales, perhaps releasing other versions sooner, or anything like that?

I haven't really bothered to ask TBH.

A year from now, when the PS4 version of Tomb Raider releases, do you think it will crack the top 10?

If Uncharted 4 releases in March, yes. If Uncharted 4 releases in October/November, no.

Funny part is that depending on what other games get released, ROTTR could be the best game two years in a row that no one bought. LOL.

LMFAO at this! How the hell did he even come to that conclusion? Like what possible logic could there be to that statement?

I think Kuchera's logic (if he had any) was that the game would sell very well on XB1+360, that Square got extra money for the deal, and that they would sell equally well when the PC release and eventually PS4 would happen and still sell just peachy.

The fact that it released on a console which is not historically where the fans of the series are (PC/ PS), that there is a population hungry for this type of game (cf Uncharted) on the competing one that won't see it for a whole year, and that what the biggest install console will get is a year old game which will still get tons of competition next year completely escaped him.

The ROTR deal is imo a disaster, both for SE -and- the gamers who got dissed (PC and specially PS4).

I know this has been beaten to death at this point but I'll never understand what Square Enix was trying to accomplish by making Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive. Seems like they had everything to lose and very little to gain. If they were "disappointed" by the first Tomb Raiders sales I wonder how they feel about this one.

Those FPS games weren't as popular as Halo or nearly as good. Uncharted is pretty damn popular, it's associated with the Sony brand in a big way just like Halo is to Microsoft.

Actually yes they were. Just like how Sly Jak and ratchet were popular but SMS on the third place Gamcube took dumps all over most of their installments. It wasn't even the best selling game on the system.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
How dissapointing for Tomb Raider; it's a great game.

Nintendo is non-existent this holiday season. Any hints on Youkai Watch?

Install abse has nothing to do with software sales it's common sense, actually think about it for a second, how many FPS games that were best selling ont he PS2 beat Halo 1 or 2?

How many of the POPULAR PS2 platforms beat SMS in sales on the Gamecube which was third?

Install base has nothing to do with it? So a title can sell 10 million copies if the platform it's made for has an install base much lower than that? You're exaggerating to the point of being ridiculous.

Wait, so almost 2mil for STBF... let's say 500k are PS4 sales. Which is probably close to the real numbers (maybe even more). How come there are usually only 70k or 80k people playing :|

Game is mad fun, ffs

So did Rock band die or something?

Also what happened to Skylanders? Did Disney Infinity Flop even with Starwars? Was Lego Dimensions Reconfirmed as a bad idea? Amiibo increasing or decline yoy?

Also what about Tony Hawk 5? the sales were massive for that at this store i was at this one time recently at some point.
Skylanders and Disney Infinity were mentioned in their category going up in sales, so maybe that includes Dimensions? Infinity 3.0 has actually beung selling higher than last year's. But no infi of this NOD yet, outsude the growth.

Ubi has never been close to EA or Activision in size.
