Halo 5: Guardians |OT2| All Hail The Conquering Hero

Sounds like people are really digging the Arena Breakout. I wonder how the Breakout maps would work with these mechanics...

breakout should have always been full shields, having them reduced in breakout just turned halo into an annoying version of counter strike, which is what they probably aimed to try and do anyway.

arena breakout feels better because you know the weapon balance, you have a shield, you can do more then headshot rush.

Just got back from a week with no internet access. Did I miss anything major? I've read the weekly update. Seems like the new maps and forge are coming soon still.

Take Breakout and Arena Breakout, put them both into the dedicated Breakout list, free the rest of us from the suffering this mode in the Team Arena playlist plz&thnx

Breakout Arena in Team Arena would be good, there's few enough gametypes as is. Since the same balance rules apply in Breakout Arena there's no reason for it to be absent in Team Arena.

Yeah, about that.... if only fans were requesting the return of several classic modes since day 1....

Anyway, I agree it works better in Team Arena than the current Breakout does. But I'd still prefer both off in their own little corner, and classic Halo modes fill the Team Arena playlist.

There's a reason SWAT doesn't come up in Team Arena, despite the low selection of modes. And I don't consider Breakout any closer to legitimate Halo than SWAT.

But I'm happy 343i is doing something for a weekend playlist aside from 'hey community, which single-weapon slayer gametype would you like?'

I can't wait for adjustable acceleration, I over aim so much that half of my deaths are from sloppy 1 on 1's that I feel i'm losing because of controls.

Frankly, I'm less interest in Breakout rules on Slayer maps than Slayer rules on Breakout maps. Or rather Space Forge maps.

Depending on how much room you get, you could make some killer straight-up slayer and CTF maps in that environment.

I get that sentiment. And I am actually having more fun PLAYING arena break out (because I sucked at breakout)... But the tension added by the reduced Health makes OG breakout more fun to watch.

I'm torn.

If you're anything like me, you clear their shields with body-shots like it's nothing, then your reticule starts bouncing back and forth across their head when you're going for the kill shot, because you keep 'skipping' past the deadzone trying to get it to move that last touch.

Maybe it's just me though.

whoever it was that went over ranking and how it most likely test your skill by placing you against higher and harder opponents, that's how I feel it works and I hate it.

skill matchmaking that places you against opponents forcefully higher then you is a bad way to balance skill, it really should be play people the same tier as you and progress out due to natural skill creep then forced highs and lows.

I think one of the larger problems is matching randoms against teams, a lot more people roll in teams in the higher ranks. I'd still like to see a playlist where it's team games, ranked but solo parties only.

Agreed.

I also feel like the system determines you're 'too good' way too quickly...and then takes it's sweet time deciding to scale back the competition. You can be matched appropriately and go on a good run, and then all of a sudden you're playing opponents that are perfect shotting you while 360ing off platforms and shit.

It feels like it was 5 great games for the game to decide you're ready for tougher competition and 50 terrible games to decide it might be time to scale back.

THIS IS WHY 1-50 in halo 2 worked so well, it would pair you with similar rank unless there was no one near your level, thats understandable. Halo 5 is like "well you won 3 matches now play these semi-pros in a team cya" and fucks off leaving you to eat mud.

Playing halo again after a few weeks is a nasty feeling when you bump into this kind of shit.

When I lose in halo 5 it's not just because I played bad, it's because I was stomped by bad matchmaking pairing.

Very soon, this upcoming Tuesday. They added Arena Breakout to Weekend playlists and it's great.

Details on Controller settings for the next update: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-5-advanced-controller-settings

First time seeing this and I'm very pleased. Deadzone settings are exactly what I've been hoping for. They say that it is the same as past Halos but something has to be different there. Maybe the deadzone settings work differently on Xb1 controllers or something but I didn't notice this issue with the MCC. Guess I'll just have to mess around with them until I figure out what feels best. First goal is to make the inner deadzone as small as possible.

Making fine reticle movements in this game, e.g. repositioning it to where I expect enemies to appear, is really tedious right now.

Ok. Only 3 games in.... but I'm actually really liking Arena Breakout so far.

The difference full shields makes is enormous.

Exactly. It's not an uncommon feeling, and I'd be shocked if it wasn't a HUGE part of both population decay and abundant quitters.

There is merit to the idea that you only get better by playing people better than you. There is however, a ceiling on HOW MUCH better the people you're playing against can be before you're learning nothing and your fondness for the experience as a whole atrophies completely.

Hardcore fans will stick around. New or lapsed players will not, have not.

You got those nostaligia glasses. Halon2s matchmaking got used and abused

My main reason for disliking Breakout is because of the lower health/shields making it not feel like Halo. It became too much about who sees who first.

Now that we have full shields on real maps the mode feels great to me.

My game of Dota just finished, great timing. Shame we lost.
Internet DC'd as we were about to win. Threw the game... Not salty.

That aiming update looks like it's JUST what we needed. Cannot wait to tinker with that, especially once I get my Elite controller :O

Arena Breakout is the shiznit...

I wish the opening cinematics showed weapon placements, because I can't seem to find a damn thing on most maps.

Sneak peak for January update coming at the end of the stream confirmed. Woop woop! If gametypes aren't here this update, I hope it's an infection tease.

Everyone is loving it. I'm excited to jump on after the stream :D

Daily win packs! Your first match from both Arena and Warzone will give a free REQ pack (no mention of rarity). That's a decent step towards better bonus stuff.

Now bring back daily and weekly challenges :3
