Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

In unrelated blonde hair news, myB is 1000x better than Gfriend. The new song is maybe semi decent at best but it's a hell of a lot better than the previous one let alone that Glass Bead which sounds like it was created as a cure for insomnia.

Hopefully. Yezi is godlike.

Hardly.

Yezi had a bite and natural energy on stage that I don't think the songs released have 100% captured.

Seems very unnatural to me, and that's what bothers me about her. The performance I just watched seemed like she was trying way too hard to be...hard.

Also I feel like her company is just using her newfound popularity from the show to throw her out there with this new image. But if she was always like this then maybe I will slowly change my mind.

Yea I saw it. While some of it was cringey, it wasn't too bad. I don't doubt that she's a good rapper or anything. I just dislike the image she has right now, and feels fake and opportunistic by the agency.

Keep in mind I also just dislike the "hard" image of most artists in kpop. It's why I can't stand 2ne1 90% of the time. They just can't pull it off, especially when the next second they are acting sweet and idol-like.

Having said that. Yezi's song in general is just bland to me. Her last song in UPRS2, forgot the name, was pretty good though

I agree. On the one hand, even when people have their whole life "being hard" it is an act, even if their life really is hard, but I dislike it as nothing but a pure act, a momentary expression of some kind of feeling they want to convey. When you're all rough and loud and trying to act like you're out of society's control then go "감사합니다~<3" with a bow immediately after you finish I'm like "um, okay." I feel the same way about rock stars who say a bunch of tough shit but in reality they're just on a stage with a guitar. Okay, express your feelings I guess, but I feel like at some point you need to reconcile the fact you don't do any of that shit and are a perfectly respectable member of society to those feelings by realizing you have all sorts of other moderating feelings, and maybe the most honest and meaningful expression of yourself is somewhere in that complex matrix of feelings. You know? Why act like only your extreme feelings expressed on stage are the real you, when obviously there is more to you since you are a cool and collected person the rest of the time.

Yea but at the same time, they gotta make money, and I can respect that. Nothing wrong with the hustle. It's just that some can pull it off better than others.

My biggest issue with Yezi is that it's just such a cash grab by the company after she gained a small following from rap star.

I'll take bad bitch Yezi over, boring rapper doing another ballad collab, which IS the safe route currently in korea.

Yezi pulling this angle while being under the idol umbrella is bold (independently if it was her call or not for Unpretty Rapstar). We know how easy is to get backlash from netizens just being correct, nomal idol. Also, you can tell she really enjoys provocating, and I'm all in for idols doing what they enjoy on stage.

And of course the company is going to exploit what made her gain some kind of recognition, isn't that the point? What other thing is she supposed to be doing now? Playing an instrument?

It's like complaining of Taeyeon doing ballads. Let Yezi do what she is good at.

I've said it before, Yezi's "eat a bitch for breakfast"* flow is easily one of the best things about her. I don't need profound lyrics, intricate wordplay or social commentary from her. There are others better suited to those elements.

There's something about her presence and flow, where the more voracious her delivery the better she is. As Peru noted however, it's best experienced with a live performance as the feel isn't quite there yet with the recording studio material.

*not like that you pervs

Surely SM are going to release a 4K Bluray of f(x) Dimension 4. Until then I'll keep watching this link and using my imagination:

f(x) --- 에프엑스_the 1st concert DIMENSION 4 - Docking Station_Teaser

I agree with that quote tbh. Love the live performance too.
Same. I was lukewarm on the "Cider" upon first listen, but the performance helps enhance it.

"I Miss You" is immediately one of Mamamoo's best songs. It will be great live and I can see them performing it for years to come.

Like I said, can't really blame them for wanting to mak a quick buck. I just don't enjoy it for reasons explained by myself and Dice earlier. Doesn't help that the actual songs don't sound very good, live or not, imo

Artists act, almost without exception. Tough ass? Cute innocent? Both acts. You can't go after 2NE1 for being all gangsta when you don't go after A Pink or GFriend for their fake coy shit.

It used to be..now not so much. Hyuna's solos are getting worse and worse too.

lolwhat. Roll Deep is her 2nd best single.

Huh why it looks so different to the daily charts?

The reddit thread for your ranking seems to be deleted, but comments called it the "item support list" or something, and implied that it didn't reflect the actual rankings. My ranking was apparently shown at the end of episode 2 according to the reddit thread.

Jung Ah's graduation from AS finally hit me and now I'm depressed.

Also if the translations of her message to the Playgirlz cafe + Pledis' own statement were near exact, it seems like Pledis didn't bother negotiating to renew her contract, rather than her deciding to leave like Jooyeon, Kahi, Bekah and Soyoung did before her... Of course it's just a hunch but I'm sad either way.

All the original members are gone. I wanna cry.

I really hope AS come back this year though (but not with a Gfriend concept like Lizzy wants because I ain't here for that).

---

I'm only watching Produce 101 because of Kahi lmao. I love her so much.

So, in the 3rd episode of Produce 101 (not yet aired), the girls will be split into groups to perform girl group debut songs:

+ T-ara - Lies
Seems like a really cool idea.

What a mess. Although I'm surprised Jungah didn't leave before, she is clearly out of place with the current lineup.

I really enjoyed the first episode of Produce 101. Highlights included:

 • Making all the trainees choose their own seat on the pyramid. That was a stroke of genius.
 • Chanmi claiming the throne at the top.
 • The musical actress completely failing to hit any of those high notes at the end of IU's Good Day and, to her credit, not giving too much of a fuck afterwards.
 • Everyone immediately standing up and bowing the moment Our Lord and Saviour entered the room.
In other news, I can't wait until 'Asia's Prince' Jang Geun Suk finally enlists in the army and they give him a proper haircut.

YES, that was really good. I'm looking forward the use of the pyramid chairs to dramatically reveal the final lineup. I agree with that Peru said that they should have made the show an ongoing thing that keeps rotating the lineup according to the audience votes, like tthe AKB groups. I feel like we are not going to see a lot of them be featured enough to even have a chance to showcase themselves with the current format.

As messy as the concept of the show sounds, there is a lot of good ideas there, like the letter grades right after the 1st pefromance, and that determining their position in the Pick Me Up stages.

Finally finished doing the post for the results of the awards, will post a thread in the OT, still two questions left before I post:
1. In one of the award someone voted "everyone but x", should I decrease 1 vote to x? It's actually pretty important.
2. Do you guys prefer that I post the result of best member of kpop gaf here or I can post everything in the new thread in the OT?
Is Cuddler around? When's the 2nd part of the Awards expected?
Sorry, I've been late with this but I finally finished.

Hahahahah, I want to know what is this about. And I don't know, do what you feel is more correct. We trust your judgement.

I know. I write songs myself, and even stuff that was one the realest stuff becomes very much not who I am anymore over time, so if I play it I gotta fake it. Yet, I don't feel like the acting side of it is a thing to make a blanket statement over that it's all fake and nothing has a connection to the natural except to fulfill a gap in desired expression for the work. I didn't say I know how to explain it, I just personally don't make sense of certain things, and tough persona is one of them. It's not like judging them for it, just something that doesn't connect to make sense to me, like why someone would even want to take up those roles when it's so compartmentalized.

The reason community threads exist is to keep the niche stuff we like but not everyone is interested in off to the side. Even aside from the inevitable annoying reactions of posters who hate kpop on principle and/or misinformation, it may upset the mods.

To play devil's advocate, I think community threads exist for continued discussion on a subject, with off-topic forum threads allowed for events and news and other short-term affairs related to that. But I'm not sure our internal awards are of value to people outside the thread, and maybe confusing more than anything else, so yeah... it might be best to keep this particular thing here.

Thank you, I think you would be able to see who x is when I post the results.
Please don't do that. Just post it in this thread.

I thought it was a good opportunity to expose people to many kpop artists/type of music that usually isn't posted in the OT since the only kpop threads posted are usually of the same artists or someway negative about the industry, but if you guys are scared of the possible negative reactions I post the results only here, no problem.

AOA sub-unit coming on the 12th of Feb. Hints taken from their instagram accounts:

If I had to guess I'd say Cream was the name of the single instead of the sub-unit. These Orange Caramel-esque pics, thanks FNC for delivering what Pledis can't!
